Long Lasting Lipstick That Really Lasts: Yes, It's Chanel

Chanel Rouge Double Intensité Lip Stain Review and SwatchesChanel Rouge Double Intensité Lip Stain Review and Swatches

As much as I love a great looking lippie, when I'm at work I am super low maintenance. I want to put on a lippie in the morning, and not think about it until that night. At the most I want to be able to grab something out of my pocket and swipe it on (while walking down the hall, so no mirror) and have it look decent without spending much time on it.

So, you can imagine that I'm pretty much left with stains, long wearing lipsticks and lip balm. Lippies that take intricate work to look great, such as a pigmented lipstick or even many tinted balms, aren't a great choice for me.

I've been using one lippie over and over for the last few months, and I thought since we're sharing our favorite long lasting makeup today for Makeup Wars that it was a great time to finally post about this lipstick. The Chanel Rouge Double Intensité Ultra Wear Lip Color. Yes, it's a huge splurge. But it is so worth it!

My 10 Favorite Fall Nail Polish Shades

I Bought It Affiliate Links

best fall nail polish shades

As soon as the weather gets a little cooler, I want alllll the dark nail polishes! I tend to reach for dark reds and purples the most, but I also have a lot of browns and metallics that I'll use as well. And yes, I do have all of these shades, except for that sequin one from Alexa. It's been hanging out in my Nordstrom cart for the longest time while I covet it. I'm still including it, I need to just buy it!

What is your go-to color this fall?

Chanel Morning Rose Nail Polish

Chanel Morning Rose Nail Polish, swatch, summer 2011
A pretty mid-tone rose, this color is almost a bubble gum pink. There is fine gold shimmer that is so subtle that only you will know it is there.

This color does have some streaking issues, so use a very light touch with application and I recommend letting each coat dry for a few minutes before adding more polish. I needed 3 coats to reach opaque.

Read on to see a few pinks in the same color range.

Chanel Mimosa Nail Polish

Chanel Mimosa Nail Polish, Yellow, Swatch
I admit it, I bought in to the hype and bought "the" color of the season, Chanel Mimosa. This yellow is a bit more wearable than I had thought it would be, as it is a tad darker than most highlighters (I had feared it would be that ugly bright yellow highlighter color). It does have a little bit of same color shimmer that just can't be captured in a picture.

I would like to point out that this color is very difficult to work with. Yellows have always been known to be finicky in the world of nail polish, and I had been hoping that the nail polish gurus over at Chanel would be able to fix this. Not so. The formula is a bit streaky, and something with the brush just seems to drag and make it much worse. Use a light touch and let your layers sit for a few minutes in between to help keep the streaking at a minimum. I needed 4 light coats to reach full opacity without visible nail line or streaks.

Also, I should add that I'm not really sure why, but I seem to be really gripping the bottle in this picture! I swear my fingers aren't that red in real life. For some reason I guess I was worried the bottle would run away??

2 coats to opaque, this light lilac nail polish has very subtle same color shimmer that only you will know is there.

Chanel Kaleidoscope

Chanel Kaleidoscope, nail polish, swatch
This is an interesting shade. In some lights it is a gold foil, in others a silver/pewter color and on occasion it will flash green. 2 coats to opaque, definitely worth the money if you can find it.

Sneak peeks of Fall 2011 have been showing up on-line, and the nail polish looks similar to Kaleidoscope. The best info I've found about the collection was from Temptalia if you're interested.

Edited to add:
When I published, Blogger made my picture look a little lighter than the polish is, so I'm adding this picture so you can see the depth a little bit more. The pic above should show you how it is gold and silver at the same time (compare the different fingers, you'll see what I mean), but the polish is more like this picture in terms of how dark it is.

Chanel Pearl Drop Nail Polish

Chanel Pearl Drop Nail Polish, Spring 2011, Swatch
This nail polish really does look like the surface of a (real) pearl. There is amazing gold shimmer and shine (the gold is more pronounced in real life, this is the best that I could capture it), I think only Chanel could capture this in a nail polish. It is a bit deceiving in the bottle and images as I think this polish is actually warm toned, not the cool you would think a white polish is. As well, it is surprisingly opaque, I only needed 2 coats for full coverage.

Chanel's Black Pearl Nail Polish

Chanel Black Pearl Nail Polish Swatch
Chanel's Black Pearl has caused the usual fervor over a new Chanel. As part of the Spring Collection, it promises to sell out relatively soon.

I have to be honest, even though I kept hearing how much green was in this, I still really wanted this polish to have more black or dark grey than green (more like the Estée Lauder Wild Storm, but a few shades darker).

About 95% of the time it looks like this, a dark greyed jade green, which is very pretty. There is some shimmer, it is very subtle, even for a Chanel, and I have to look very closely to see it.
