The Best Drugstore Liquid Eye Liner: CoverGirl Intensify Me

The Best Drugstore Liquid Eye Liner: CoverGirl Intensify Me review

Why is a good liquid eyeliner so hard to find? You would think it would be easy to get the liner to be well pigmented, and flow well out of a pen applicator. But alas... not so much. In the past I've done really well with a few much higher priced liquid liners (my favorites are this one and this one), but at about $20 each that's pretty expensive.

The Best Drugstore Liquid Eye Liner: CoverGirl Intensify Me review

Well, CoverGirl has come to the rescue! Their new Intensify Me Liner is amazing. I am not exaggerating. It is super pigmented, the black is super black. Just like it should be. The colors (such as the beautiful green shown here) are just the color you expect them to be, and they look very pretty on. They flow out of the pen and apply perfectly. The coverage is solid and dark, not at all patchy. It lasts through the entire day without fading or smudging.

One of the best things about this liner is the applicator. Instead of the typical pointed pen, this one has a paddle. This means you can easily chose how thick you want to line your lash line! Want it thicker? Apply with the thick part. Want to tightline? Twist the pen so you're using the thin side. This makes it very easy to get a precise line right at your lash line, no more guessing if your line is the same thickness as your other eye!

The only problem I have with this liner is that it is not waterproof. This isn't an issue for every day wear, but I tend to wear only waterproof eye makeup during the summer in case I decide to swim in my pool. So, I'll need to switch to a waterproof liquid liner once it warms up a bit.

You can buy CoverGirl Intensify Me at Target, ULTA or Amazon!

Adding Some Depth: Eye Makeup Alternatives

As much as I love the classics, after a while black, brown and taupe get a little old when they are the only shades that you use to create your eye look every day. Yes, they're pretty, but sometimes a girl needs to do something a little bit different!

Currently one of my favorite ways to spice things up a bit is to use the Stila Got Inked Cushion Eye Liner in Smoky Quartz (you can read my full Stila Got Inked Eye Liner review from August). I love that this color has a bit of metallic shimmer, is neutral but definitely not boring!

Is It Safe To Line Your Inner Lashline?

Sponsored Post

Is It Safe To Line Your Inner Lashline?

Tonight I'm participating in Swissper's #SleepNaked Twitter Party! If you were on Twitter, you saw me answer a few beauty questions sent in by my readers. I thought 140 Characters wasn't enough to really answer these questions, I decided to write more complete answers for the blog!

This is a really great question! I've often wondered it for myself, but since I'm an not an ophthalmologist, I asked one of my favorites, a med school classmate who practices in Nashville. She said that she cautions patients against using eyeliner on the inner eyelash line because of 2 main reasons: first, there is a risk of harming your cornea or conjunctiva with the pencil if you slip. A corneal abrasion will heal, but it is very painful! Second, the Meibomian Gland orifices are there, and they're important for tear film health.

What little glands is she talking about? You can see the openings in this image from Gray's Anatomy (the classic medical textbook, not the ABC show). There are about 50 of those little holes on your upper lash line, and 25 on your lower lash line. They secrete something called Meibum, which is an oily substance that helps your tears from drying up basically. You want these glands to be open and to secrete normally. If they get backed up, you'll have dry eyes. The glands can get inflamed, this is blepharitis (not fun).

How do you minimize the effect of eyeliner, if you do chose to wear it?

1. Use a softer eyeliner
My friend mentioned the risk of injuring your eye with the pencil, and that is a real concern! It stands to reason that using a very hard pencil is going to injure your eye quite a bit more than a softer pencil would if you happen to slip and hit your eye. My favorites include Elizabeth Arden, Urban Decay, Too Faced, CoverGirl, and L'Oreal.

2. Apply below the lash line, not directly to the waterline.
In the picture above, I applied my eyeliner to the lashline, and immediately below it. This is definitely better than right in my waterline as far as effects to the Meibomian Glands, but if you look closely, you'll notice that there's still liner on that waterline, it's moved.

A recent article in Eye Contact Lens (yes, it's a journal) found that eyeliner applied outside of the lashline (not on the waterline) takes longer to migrate into the eye and less of it gets into the eyes. However, even liner outside of the lash line gets into the eyes. If you have dry or sensitive eyes, this might be a good reason to avoid eye liner completely.

3. Remove your eyeliner and eye makeup completely every night
It's definitely best to fully remove your eyeliner every night. I recommend using one of my favorite eye makeup removers and a quality eye cotton round (which won't leave fibers all over your eye!). Tonight's Twitter party was sponsored by Swisspers, but I fully admit that I agreed to work with them because I will only buy their exfoliating cotton rounds. They're a bit textured, so they grab onto eyeliner and mascara a bit better.

Top 10 Tuesday: My Favorite Alternatives to Black and Brown Eyeliners

Product Sent for Review Affiliate Links I Bought It

My Favorite Alternatives to Black and Brown Eyeliners

Today for Top 10 Tuesday we're sharing our favorite colorful eyeliner alternatives to black and brown liner. I'm definitely an eyeliner girl (I have a huge collection), and while I have my fair share of blacks and browns, I really love reaching for another color to add some depth to my eye look. I had a really hard time coming up with this list, but these are the ones that I seem to reach for most frequently. I even found a drugstore dupe in my collection for one of the discontinued Urban Decay pencils!

Urban Decay 24/7 Eyeliner in LSD Swatch
1. Urban Decay 24/7 Eyeliner in LSD (get it here or here)
LSD is a navy shimmer with bright turquoise micro-sparkle according to Sephora. I love to layer this one over a black eyeliner and smudge it out just to show off a hint of the shimmer.

Elizabeth Arden Beautiful Color Precision Glide Eye Liner in Blackberry Swatch
2. Elizabeth Arden Beautiful Color Precision Glide Eye Liner in Blackberry (get it here)
I'm usually a huge fan of the Elizabeth Arden Smoky Liner, but they recently sent me a few of their Precision Glide Eye Liners to try out and I'm in love! They last all day, the colors are beautiful, and I can't stop wearing Blackberry.

L'Oreal Infallible Silkissime Eyeliner in silver and gold swatches
3. L'Oreal Infallible Silkissime Eyeliner in Silver
4. L'Oreal Infallible Silkissime Eyeliner in Gold
(get them here or here)
These are by far the best applying, most vibrant metallic liners I've ever used. They do have a few tricks to using them (see my full L'Oreal Infallible Silkissime Eyeliner Review) such as a few tricks for properly sharpening. They're worth the trouble!

Make Up For Ever Aqua Eyes Eye Liner in 12L Swatch
5. Make Up For Ever Aqua Eyes in 12L (get it here)
This is a super pretty blue With Green Highlights, I wear it usually as just a hint of color on my upper or lower lash line.

Elizabeth Arden Beautiful Color Precision Glide Eye Liner in Sapphire Swatch
6. Elizabeth Arden Beautiful Color Precision Glide Eye Liner in Sapphire (get it here)
Similar to the eyeliner in Blackberry, this is a great black/brown alternative. On the eye it is hard to tell that it isn't just black, but it adds some great depth to my eyes. It really does look better than black many days!

Urban Decay 24/7 Eyeliner in Crash Swatch
7. Urban Decay 24/7 Eyeliner in Crash (get it here or here)
I hadn't realized that Crash was discontinued until I was looking it up for this post! It is one of those cult colors that UD seems to release in special sets frequently. I have 2 of them (this is my back up), if you keep your eyes open it will be available! According to their "discontinued UD liner page" they recommend trying Delinquent or Rockstar as alternatives.

Urban Decay 24/7 Eyeliner in Mars Swatch
8. Urban Decay 24/7 Eyeliner in Mars (get it here or here)
Another discontinued liner, I got this one in a special holiday set and really love it! It doesn't appear on their discontinued liner page like Crash does, and while I initially thought Junkie on that page would be a similar green, it's pretty different due to shimmer.

Urban Decay 24/7 Eyeliner in Mars dupe with CoverGirl Vivid Impact Jade Comparison Pictures
Urban Decay 24/7 Eyeliner in Mars vs. CoverGirl Vivid Impact Eyeliner in Jade (buy it here or here)
But!!! I found a drugstore dupe for Mars! Check out my CoverGirl Vivid Impact Eyeliner review.

L'Oreal Infallible Silkissime Eyeliner in Cobalt Blue Swatch
9. L'Oreal Infallible Silkissime Eyeliner in Cobalt Blue (get them here or here)
Definitely the brightest blue liner I've ever owned! (see my full L'Oreal Infallible Silkissime Eyeliner Review)

L'Oreal Infallible Silkissime Eyeliner Review: Super Pigmented All Day Wear

Product Sent for Review

L'Oreal Infallible Silkissime Eyeliner Review: Super Pigmented All Day Wear

Have you seen these liners at a store near you? They came out with them a while ago, though L'Oreal recently sent them to me to try out with some of their new fall items. I'm pretty much in love. The colors are so, so, beautiful!

L'Oreal Infallible Silkissime Eyeliner Swatches: Super Pigmented All Day Wear

The pencils are soft and very well pigmented. They applied very easily to my lash line, and once you've blended them (you only have about 60 seconds to do this), they stay put all day long. And these swatches don't really do the liners justice, I definitely will be buying a second Green Ivy, that color is absolutely amazing if you blend it out a little.

There is a problem with these pencils however, and that is that they are pretty hard to sharpen correctly. They really will break very easily, making you resharpen them over and over. It is enough to make you wonder why you bought the pencil in the first place (look at the swatch of Green Ivy again, you'll remember!)

I found that to get these liners to sharpen there are a few tricks. First, you really do need to use a L'Oreal sharpener. I think it must be something with getting the closest size fit possible, but my Urban Decay sharpener (which is pretty new and works great with my other liners) seems to be a smidge too big, the liner wobbles a little, then it breaks. Go for the L'Oreal one. Second, you need to be sure that your liner is cold. On days that it is a bit warm and humid, try putting the liner in your freezer for a few minutes first. So much easier! And finally, you need to go. slow. Taking your time with these liners makes a big difference!

Makeup Wars: The Best Black Eyeliners

Product Sent for Review Affiliate Links

The Best Black Eyeliners

I looooooove eyeliners. Remember my eyeliner drawer? (Yes, I have a whole drawer.) So when we decided to showcase our favorite black liners for Makeup Wars, I knew I'd have a huge list. I think I've tried most of the formulas that major brands (aka, brands you can buy at places like Walgreen's, Meijer, Sephora and ULTA) have to offer. I haven't tried as many department store brands, in large because I don't really shop at those stores. (Something about the women in their tunics intimidates me.)

So, here are the brands and formulas that I have in my drawer and have repurchased multiple times!

Gel Liners
I like to use a stiff angled brush to apply these liners, and they're usually pretty long lasting. I featured 3 products here, but there's also a great version from Bobbi Brown (I haven't bought it in a few years, so it was left out of the collage), and L'Oreal makes a good one that I just couldn't find on-line.

1. Maybelline Lasting Drama by EyeStudio Gel Eyeliner: This is a great drugstore version of the gel liner. It isn't quite as pigmented as the Urban Decay and MAC versions, but it is close and a fraction of the cost!

2. Urban Decay Super-Saturated Ultra Intense Waterproof Cream Eyeliner: This is a new product from UD, it's sitting on my vanity waiting to be reviewed. I think it is more pigmented than the MAC, and for me it is longer wearing.

3. MAC Fluidline: What would a post about black liners be without mentioning MAC Fluidline in Blacktrack? It's the gold standard of gel liners, the one that most makeup artists and many of my friends swear by. I do think it's pretty great, though I have smudging after about 10-12 hours. So, for me this is a night out liner, not great for a full day at work.

Liquid Felt Tip Pens
Putting liquid liner in a felt tip pen makes it much easier for me to deal with than a pot and brush! I've tried 30 or 40 different kinds of pens, but these are the 3 (!) that make the cut. I want the felt tip to be longer and very pointed, and a little bit flexible. I need the tip to have very pigmented liquid that applies easily from the pen, none of those mostly dry pen tips for me! I should note that I've heard great things about NYX's The Curve liner as well, but I just bought it and haven't tried it out yet.

4. Urban Decay Ink for Eyes Waterproof Precision Eye Pen: Again, another new product from Urban Decay! This is the darkest of the 3.

5. Stila Stay All Day Waterproof Liquid Eye Liner: This has long been my "go-to" liquid liner pen.

6. CoverGirl Bombshell Intensity Liner: Very similar to the Stila, this pen is a fraction of the price and I love the smaller size! It fits right into the palm of my hand very easily.

Pencil Liners
As much as I love the other types of liners, these are the ones that I tend to reach for the most often.

7. Urban Decay 24/7 Glide-On Eye Pencil: If you want black, Perversion is the darkest black from UD. There are some amazing colors in this formula as well.

8. Too Faced Perfect Eyes Eyeliner: This is my favorite for lining my waterline, it seems to apply the easiest and stays put all day.

9. CoverGirl Perfect Blend Eye Pencil: A great drugstore find! It's just soft enough to blend easily from the lash line.

10. Elizabeth Arden Beautiful Color Smoky Eyes Pencil: If the Too Faced is too soft for your waterline, the Elizabeth Arden is the way to go. It also stays put all day for me, and the formula is just a tad harder (which can mean fewer smudges).

Automatic Pencils
11. Smashbox 'Always Sharp' Waterproof Kôhl Liner: I discovered this pencil when a makeup artist at Nordie's used it on me in Chicago, and I think I've repurchased it about 4 times in the last year. My favorite part is that if you twist the cap, it sharpens the pencil! That's super easy, and it saves space when you're traveling. I have it in black, brown and my favorite is actually Penny Lane.

12. Stila Smudge Stick Waterproof Eye Liner: I stock up on this pencil in Black and Damsel. It is great for in the lash line and it smudges just enough with a brush for a pretty smoky look.

13. CoverGirl Perfect Point Plus Self Sharpening Eye Pencil: My go-to drugstore pencil, it's very similar to the Stila but smudges a little less.

What's your go-to black liner? I'm always looking for a new one!

Makeup 101: Fun with Color

Product Sent for Review Affiliate Links

basic makeup kit for teens

Today we're continuing Makeup 101, in which I share with you what I'd buy/suggest if we were shopping together and you were a makeup newbie or a teen, putting together your first makeup kit. Yesterday we went over skin makeup, BB Creams, foundation, concealer and powder.

Today, it's time for the fun stuff! Color! After much debate, how much to discuss, I've decided to do basics (well, what my basics are), with neutral colors. Most of these steps really are optional, you can pick and choose which ones you want to do. Tomorrow we'll go over what order I apply all of this stuff in, because it isn't in the order that I've presented so far, and the order changes up depend upon what I'm wearing that day.

basic basic eye shadow palette to buy
4. Shadows
Obviously changing up your eye makeup can make a huge impact on your look. Whether you want a very natural look, something fun and colorful or a soft and neutral every day look, much of the look is in which shadows you use and where you place them. For the beginner, I recommend starting with a soft and neutral look, that will be appropriate no matter where you are or what you're doing. School, brunch with relatives, work or a job interview. Soft and neutral works for all of those settings. When you're first starting out, I recommend using a trio or quad palette. This limits the color options to shades that already work together, so you won't look crazy and you'll save time.

I've tried shadows from just about every brand in the mass/drugstore markets and the higher end department store/prestige brands. My preference is for shadows that are well pigmented (so you don't spend forever applying more layers of shadow), blend easily and last all day. Below are my favorite starter palette picks, but I'll also tell you just in general which brands I do like for shadows.

Splurges:
Too Faced Natural Eyes (my Too Faced Natural Eyes review), if you need darker shades try Natural at Night, and if you want more options I'd go for the Too Faced Return of Sexy Palette, which is basically 3 quads in one palette.
Urban Decay Naked Basics (my Urban Decay Naked Basics review), this is a great collection of matte shadows. You can create some great looks with just this palette (here are my favorite Naked Basics tutorials), but this palette is perfect for adding in one or two other shades for a great look.
In general: Too Faced, Urban Decay, MAC, Bobbi Brown, Laura Mercier, Stila, Cargo, LORAC, Smashbox, NARS, Tarina Tarantino, Clinique, Chanel, Lancome, Make Up For Ever, Tarte

Steals:
CoverGirl Eye Enhancers in Urban Basics 320 shown, also try Sheer Nude 265, Pure Romance 235 and Coffee Shop 260.
Wet'N'Wild Color Icon Collection Eyeshadow Trio in Walking On Eggshells shown, also try Silent Treatment.
In general: Wet'N'Wild, CoverGirl, L'Oreal, Maybelline, Prestige

what is the best eye shadow primer

Shadow Primer
If you're going to wear shadow, then I consider the companion primer to be not an option. Not at all. Primer will make your shadow more vibrant, prevent it from creasing and smudging and make it last hours longer than it would when used alone. This is 15 seconds well spent!

Note that even if you aren't going to wear shadow that day, I still recommend wearing a primer or concealer to even out your lids. Well, I recommend this if you're like me, a pale girl with a lot of visible blood vessels in my lids. I few pats of the NYX Eye Shadow Base (my pick because it is the same color as my skin tone) evens things out and really pulls my look together, even without any shadow over top.

There are a lot of great shadow primers out there, try a few out and pick the one that works best for you. It won't necessarily be the same one that works great for me, everyone has a different amount of oil in their lids and that seems to affect things quite a bit. Also keep in mind that there are "basic" primers like I've featured here, different colors of primer (Too Faced has several) and there are even glitter primers for the days that you want to use a glittery or very powdery shadow (ELF and Too Faced make the best glitter primers).

Splurges:
Too Faced Shadow Insurance, Urban Decay Primer Potion

Steals:
NYX Eye Shadow Base in Skin Tone is my every day go-to favorite for the added vessel coverage, I also love the primers from Milani and ELF.

basic makeup kit eye shadow brushes you need

Eye Brushes
Another not so optional add-on if you're going to wear shadow. The brushes that come with most palettes really don't do a great job. They're either too big, too small, not the right shape or just won't release the product evenly. You'll need a big, expensive palette like the Urban Decay Naked3 palette to get a decent brush.

There are 6 different brush shapes that I think everyone needs, but that's my personal bias as these are the ones I use the most often. The good news is that you can get really good brushes from ELF to fulfill all of these needs. All of the brushes you see above can be purchased for a grand total of $6. Yes. And they're really good quality, I find myself reaching for my ELF brushes over much more expensive brushes every single morning.

e.l.f. Essential Eye Shadow Brush: I own about 6 of this brush, it's great for everything. I swipe shadow onto my entire lid, the brow bone and sometimes blend with this brush.
e.l.f. Essential Smudge Brush: I'll mention this brush more in a few minutes with liner, but I think you should be blending your liner a bit, unless you're going for a very stark, liquid lined look.
e.l.f. Essential Eye Crease Brush: I could only get a small picture of this one, but the brush is the same size as the others. It is a bit longer and pointier than the blending brush, I use it in my crease and to apply shadow to very specific areas like my outer or inner corner.
e.l.f. Essential Blending Eye Brush: I like to run this over everything to blend it together a bit. It definitely makes my eye shadow look better!
e.l.f. Essential Eyeliner Brush: Great for lining the eyes with shadow or just blending liner (again, discussed under eye liner below).
e.l.f. Essential Brow Comb + Brush: I have the ELF version of this, but if you can find a metal comb version (mine is from Sephora, they don't always sell it), then grab one! I use my metal comb version more often. I use the comb for de-clumping my mascara, the brush is great for grooming brows.

Splurges:
MAC, Laura Mercier, Sephora

Steals:
ELF, Real Techniques (at ULTA), Sonia Kashuk (Target), and Coastal Scents (on-line)

**Note there are a lot of You-Tubers who swear by Sigma brushes, and they fall into this price category. I've heard mixed reviews from those that aren't affiliates, but they're mostly dupes for MAC brushes at a lower price point. I've never tried them, but I did want to mention them as an option.

basic beginner's makeup tips and products

5. Eye Liner
Eye liner is optional, and it's even optional for a lined eye look. If you're just starting with liner, I recommend sticking with a sharp, brown pencil (black is usually too harsh), and applying it basically into your lash line. Just smoosh it in there, pretending your lashes aren't in the way. The line doesn't need to be perfect, but it shouldn't be 4 mm above your lashes at one point and non-existent at another. Just consistently in your lash line works. Then grab that smudge brush I mentioned above and run it along your lash line. The imperfections will be gone, you'll have a pretty smudged brown liner and your lashes will look instantly thicker!

I've been blending my liner like this since high school, but over at MaskCara you'll find a great post about blended eye liner. The key is to not stress about needing to draw a "line". People who do that usually draw a line a little over their lash line, and the gap always looks a bit strange.

If the pencil is too intimidating for you, I recommend using the eye liner brush with the darkest color from your shadow palette. Press the brush into your lash line, and wiggle it around a little. You can do this with your brush wet or dry, but wet will give you more intense results. The powder will last all day, but the look is softer than with the pencil.

Splurges:
Too Faced Perfect Eyes Eyeliner, Urban Decay 24/7 Glide-On Pencil, Stila Smudge Stick, Smashbox Always Sharp Waterproof Kohl Liner

Steals:
CoverGirl Perfect Point Plus Eyeliner, CoverGirl Vivid Impact Liner

best mascaras for beginners
6. Mascara

Mascara is one of those things that I don't like to leave the house without. Strange but true, my lashes feel naked without a little mascara. The mascara I'm reaching for every morning is currently the Too Faced Better Than Sex Mascara, but I have a lot of favorite mascaras, and a lot of mascara application tips.

If you're going to be wearing mascara, I really do think that using one of those crazy looking lash curlers is an absolute must. It doesn't hurt, and it won't pull out your lashes. Unless you are much too close to the base of your lashes, in that case you should unclamp and move out a few millimeters. I've tried a lot of lash curlers over the years, and I really do think that you get what you pay for. Cheaper curlers are more likely to be loose and accidentally grab your lashes. The curl will also last longer with a better curler. My favorite curler is the Tweezerman ProCurl, but I also like the Shu Uemura Lash Curler.

Splurges:
Tweezerman ProCurl Lash Curler
Shu Uemura Eyelash Curler
Too Faced Better Than Sex Mascara

Steals:
CoverGirl Clump Crusher is pictured here, but I think all CoverGirl mascaras are great (really, CoverGirl is all kinds of amazing in my book). L'Oreal also makes great mascaras, and most Maybelline ones are also good.

easy brow makeup

7. Brows
Brows seem like they should be more advanced, but they can make a huge difference in how you look. You can read a lot more about how I groom my brows (aka- obsess over them), but I do have to say that I like them a lot more since I started having them professionally done every 3-4 weeks. I have big, bushy brows that grow fast, so if you have skinnier brows you probably won't need to go as often as me. But it is definitely worth the money!

I think the easiest way to fill in your brows is to use a pencil. A few well placed strokes with a pencil can make a big difference, and a pencil is much harder to mess up than a gel or even a powder. My favorite pencil, the IT Cosmetics one, is a little bit of an ashy brown and works for pretty much every brow color. Look for a pencil that is a little lighter than your brows (unless they are blonde, then you need to go darker) and the color should be a bit grey-ish.

The tinted brow gel seen here is very easy to just run through your brows, it makes it look like you've filled them in without being obvious. Super easy!

Splurges:
IT Cosmetics Your Brows But Better Brow Power Skinny Pencil
Benefit Speed Brow
Anastasia Brow Wiz

Steals:
NYX Auto Eyebrow Pencil, also look for pencils from CoverGirl and L'Oreal.

basic makeup kit blush

8. Blush
Blush is obviously optional, and there are some days that I skip it all together. Pinks, peaches, plums... what works for you depends a lot on your skin tone and what other makeup you're wearing that day. I recommend using a blush brush for powder application, a brush or your fingers will work for creams/gels. For longer lasting blush, I like to layer a cream with a powder.

Splurges:
Tarina Tarantino Dollskin Cheek Blush Palette, Too Faced Sweethearts Blush (my Too Faced Sweethearts Blush review), I also like MAC blushes and Stila Convertible Color.

Steals:
CoverGirl Clean Glow Blush, NYX Blush, Maybelline Dream Bouncy Blush

beginner's makeup kit

9. Lippies

If you haven't been wearing much other than plain lip balm, the transition to color can either be fun, or almost feel like and out of body experience. I recommend starting with a lip stain under your regular balm (my fave is Julia's Lip Tint, which now comes in a very easy to use bottle with an applicator inside, I need to take pics still), or a tinted balm. Tinted balms come at all price points. From there I'd move up in pigmentation to a gloss or a glossy stain before finally trying a lipstick.

Splurges:
Julia's Lip Tint

Steals:
L'Oreal Colour Riche Tinted Balm and Colour Caresse Wet Shine Stain
Lipsmackers (Yes, really! Dr. Pepper is my favorite)

Ask Away: Everyday Products and Using Them Up

Product Sent for Review Affiliate Links

Ok, this is sort of stupid...but....I have so much makeup and I am always stumped what to keep in my daily get ready bag (not a bag that you take in your purse). I try to switch it up by the week but honestly at this rate I will never use anything up! Does anyone else have this issue?

So, there's no way I'm every going to use everything up. I could stop buying now and still have eyeshadow well into old age (and I'm going to live a long time, my grandma is 105!), if you need proof, go look at my beauty storage post. Warning: do not look if you are a minimalist. I have a lot of stuff, and yes, most of it is organized in drawers, but apparently having things out on a counter makes some people twitchy.

The truth is that I rarely finish a product unless it is a true every day product. I thought I'd share the products (well, makeup and skin care) that I tend to finish and repurchase over and over! Some of these probably look very familiar!

Repurchased Beauty Blogger Products

1. Kiehl's Ultra Facial Moisturizer SPF 15 (buy it here): You're probably tired of me talking about this lotion, but it's my go-to for in between other product testings.

2. Kiehl's Midnight Recovery (buy it here): Amazing for when my skin is dry or irritated.

3. Hard Candy Take It Off Eye Makeup Remover: I stock up on this at Walmart! It takes everything off with basically no work. Love that!

4. Pond's Luminous Finish BB Cream: I swear, I will write a full review some day! I'm using this pretty much every day instead of foundation, and I have a few friends and my mom hooked on it as well. I got an emergency phone call from my mom last week about it, she was at ULTA with my sister looking for it! She thought it would be perfect for her on an upcoming vacation.

5. Amazing Cosmetics Concealer (buy it here): Well pigmented, it lasts all day and comes in a lot of different shades. I use it alone or mixed with primer, BB Cream, highlighter, you name it! I'm light golden.

6. Cream Blushes: I use cream blush almost every day, and I tend to use either Stila's Convertible Color in Lillium (which I listed as one of my 9 Best Products From Stila, buy it here) or Maybelline Bouncy Blush.

7. Mascara: I'm a big mascara girl, but I rarely buy the same one twice (in the interest of "research" for the blog, but I admit that I've always been this way). Two that I have repurchased (multiple times) are Too Faced Better than Sex Mascara and CoverGirl Clump Crusher (which was one of my 5 Favorite CoverGirl Products.

8. IT Cosmetics Your Brows But Better (buy it here): This is my favorite brow pencil. I have others that I'll use, but this pencil is skinny and automatic, so it is like you just sharpened it. I featured it in my how to groom your eyebrows and fill them in post.

9. NYX Wonder Pencil: I've been using this pencil in multiple shades and have just repurchased them. The light is great for over and under my brows for a bit of added definition and I use the dark on either side of my nose for a bit of contouring. I recently featured the Wonder Pencil in my best concealers post.

10. Eye Liners: I've previously established that I am an eye liner girl (check out my eyeliner drawer on Instagram), but even though I have a pretty big selection at home, I fully admit that I have a few formula favorites and I like to keep them stocked up in the basic shades of brown and black. There are some days that I just want the Smoky Liner from Elizabeth Arden, or when nothing else but the Perversion Liner from Urban Decay will make me happy.
Stila Smudge Liner (buy it here): Damsel is a super dark brown that I love
Stila Stay All Day Liquid Liner (buy it here): I keep this around in black
Elizabeth Arden Smoky Liner (buy it here): This one I have in black, brown and midnight, which is a very dark navy. I'm out of black and brown, and forgot to repurchase the other day when I went to 2 (!) ULTAs on the same day. Obviously next time I'm bringing a list!
Smashbox Always Sharp Waterproof Kôhl Liner (buy it here): I bought this in Penny Lane over the summer when one of their Makeup Artists convinced me it was amazing. And O. M. G. she was right! It is just soft enough, smudges beautifully and stays all day. You twist the cap on and it advances the liner automatically and sharpens it. So cool! I use Penny Lane as more of an accent on my lower lash line since it isn't a dark color, but I just bought black a few days ago and I know this formula is one I'll be collecting for now on.
Urban Decay 24/7 Glide On Eye Pencil (buy it here): Pictured is Perversion, which is a deep matte black. This is definitely one of my go-to black colors. However, I think this is probably my favorite overall eye liner formulation, and if I want a "fun" color, then I always check Urban Decay first! The colors are always rich and true and I would much rather have that purple in the 24/7 formula than anything else! Grab the Ocho Loco2 Eye Liner Set while it's out there, this thing is a steal!

11. Eye Primers: I never skip this step! Eye primers make my shadow look much more professional, not to mention making it last all day and covering up any visible blood vessels (I'm super pale, so I have a lot). I use the NYX every day, it is basically like a concealer with primer capabilities. For days that I need to grab on to a little more powdery shadows, I'll add a light layer of Too Faced Shadow Insurance on top, and if I'm going really glittery I'll add ELF Glitter Primer (not pictured because I haven't repurchased, though I did buy 3!)

12. Wet N Wild Nutty: This is my go to taupe shadow! I love to use it in my crease, it pairs up great with pretty much everything. It's a near dupe for MAC Satin Taupe, though the lower level of pigmentation makes it work a tad better for me.

13. Lippies: I have a lot of lip products, and usually have around 20 in my purse at any given time. Yes, I have issues. The ones that I repurchase are usually these 2, the L'Oreal Caresse lip gloss stain (Lilac Ever After is a great pinky-nude) or the CoverGirl Smoochies, hydrating tinted balms. I haven't used any up, but I want to collect more of the Urban Decay Super-Saturated lip gloss pencils and Too Faced Lip Injection Color Bombs. So, I'm buying new colors!

Makeup Wars: 5 Minute Face

5 Minute Makeup: What Products to use when you only have 5 minutes

We all have those days, when you're in a huge rush and at the most you have 10 minutes to get ready. Including clothes, hair, brushing your teeth... you get the picture. Which means at best, about half of that is for putting on some makeup. Absolutely, this is something I need to do in order to feel my best (though I will skip everything other than throwing on some clothes if it is in the middle of the night and I'm running in to my ICU. In which case everyone can just deal with the circles under my eyes and my fuzzy teeth.)

Anyways, these are my go-to products when I'm running around trying to get ready ASAP. Often there's a certain 2 year old girl "helping with makeups", which means I'm mostly smearing on with my fingers.

1. Pond's BB Cream: Somehow I haven't written my review yet, though this stuff is amazing and I've already repurchased it a few times. It is just hydrating enough, offers light to medium coverage that can be built and I don't need to do any special blending. Just smear!

2. Currently, my favorite concealer is Amazing Cosmetics. I put a small amount on the back of my hand, add a small smear of the Smashbox Photo OP Under Eye Brightener and mix with my finger. This goes under my eyes in a triangle (the three points are my inner eye, outer eye and the corner of my nose), around my nose and a little on my chin. I smear and pat with my fingers, but once it is just about where I want it I'll grab my Beauty Blender sponge (if I'm in a big hurry I just use it dry, the sink is waaaay across the room) and bounce it around my face a little to help blend.

3. Once I've blended with the Beauty Blender, I use it to pick up a little bit of my Cargo HD Picture Perfect Translucent Powder (Cargo HD Picture Perfect Translucent Powder Review), pressing it under my eyes and in my t-zone. The powder is very fine and with the Beauty Blender it just sinks into my skin and you can't see it there at all!

4. I love the NYX Shadow Base! I use the nude color, and I just use my fingers to pat it onto my lids. It makes all of my vessels disappear (a much cleaner look!) and will let my shadow last all day.

5. Stila Not So Nude Palette: For shadow, I'll grab something pretty neutral. Lately I've been obsessing over a few colors in this Stila Palette, and I keep meaning to go back to ULTA and buy the other 2 palettes (I was soooo close to just buying all 3), I need to do it! Mostly I use Sugar, a light pinky-nude with shimmer that isn't overwhelming.

Once my plain shadow is on (this is a 1 shadow look!) I'll use my fingers to get a little bit of the cream Convertible Color and apply a little to my cheeks. I like that it is in the palette so I don't need to dig around for anything else.

6. Too Faced Perfect Eyes Eyeliner: I really love these liners, they're just soft enough to really smudge nicely but they stick around all day! If I'm running behind on time I only smudge the liner right in between my lashes. If I have a little bit more time (about 30 seconds) I'll grab a smudge brush and run it over the liner as well.

7. Too Faced Better Than Sex Mascara: While I'm usually a big one for layering my mascara, when pressed for time I just quickly curl my lashes and reach for this mascara. It offers nice length but really great volume, which is what makes the biggest difference for me.

8. L'Oreal Colour Caresse Wet Shine Stain (in Lilac Ever After): This is my default lippie. I think I'm on my 2nd or 3rd stain of this shade. I really need to buy stock in L'Oreal.

And I didn't include it in my collage (because I know I'd be completely out of time at this point), if there's any way to sneak in 1 more product I'd go for the Benefit Gimme Brow, which is an amazing new find for me! I have a review coming up soon, but really you just swipe the little brush over your brows, which is about 10 seconds, and it looks like you spent a lot more time filling them in perfectly. Totally worth going over in time a bit!
