Bond No. 9's Hamptons

I've been trying to figure out which Bond Fragrance is my favorite, and let me tell you this has not been an easy task! Smelling all of the scents over and over, I do find myself drawn to a few over and over (Andy Warhol's Silver Factory and Saks for Her among them). One that I've found really growing on me is the Hamptons fragrance. I've been wearing it all weekend, and I like it more and more as time goes on!

The Hamptons is more of a unisex fragrance, and it's meant to invoke thoughts of the Hamptons. The Hamptons scent makes me think more of the green meadows meeting the sea, a la Diane Keaton's home in Something's Gotta Give (a movie I love so much that I remodeled my kitchen a few years ago to look like hers!).

Top Notes: Lime Blossoms, Bigarrade Oil (from bitter oranges), lemon-limey Bergamot, Armoise Oil, Cedar and Sage

Middle Notes: Magnolia, Jasmine, Turkish Rose

Base Notes: Amber, Sandalwood, Cashmere Musk

I haven't looked at the notes in this fragrance until now, and I guess it should come as no surprise that I love this fragrance! Initially I smell mostly Lime Blossoms, Magnolia and a bit of the Sandalwood when I smell the scent in the bottle. Once I've had the scent on for a while, the Sandalwood starts to fade into the background, you smell a bit more of the Bergamot and Amber, with definite notes of Lime Blossoms and a bit of Magnolia that hours later melts into Jasmine. Absolute perfection!

Bond No. 9's Saks Fifth Avenue for Her

This fall Bond No. 9 and Saks Fifth Avenue made history. Saks became the first specialty store to commission a perfumery to design a scent, and they chose Bond No. 9 (which I think was a great move, especially after smelling the amazing results). Two scents were created and I've really enjoyed wearing them both.

The Saks Fifth Avenue for Her is a classic gardenia eau de parfum, which means that I will automatically love it, as I love all gardenia scents. What makes this one different from others is the addition of jasmine and vanilla. When I wear this fragrance I initially smell mostly the gardenia, but that soon blends into more of a jasmine scent on me. I love the combination of the jasmine with the gardenia, it strikes me as a very fresh, contemporary take on a classic floral scent.

Top Notes:
• Jasmine
• Tuberose

Middle Note:
• Gardenia

Base Notes:
• Vetiver
• Vanilla

The scent is available in both a black and white bottle (to match the new Saks logo) and in the superstar flacon (seen here). You can purchase the fragrance at Saks Fifth Avenue and Bond No. 9

Bond No. 9's Andy Warhol's Silver Factory

It seems like Andy Warhol is everywhere lately, doesn't it?

Inspired by Warhol and his favorite haunts, this new scent from Bond No. 9 is pretty amazing! They were trying for a "smooth, smoky, spicy blend of interlacing incense (a key scent of the '60s), wood resin, and syrupy, seductive amber." Well, let me tell you that they definitely succeeded! To me this is a unisex scent, that you or your husband will love. It has some smokey undertones, but the bergamot top coat really comes out on my skin, making the scent very smooth. To help keep the scent from becoming too heavy, there are notes of jasmine, iris and violet (one of Warhol's favorite scents). The jasmine also comes out on me after about 30 minutes or so, and when combined with the bergamot, I'm in fragrance heaven!

Top Notes:
• Citrussy Bergamot in a soft and gentle mode (as if it had a hangover)
• Impudently zesty Grapefruit
• Mood-altering Lavender

Middle Notes:
• Non-shinking violet (Andy Warhol's favorite scent)
• Intoxicating Incense summoning up the '60's with a single sniff
• Criminally sultry Jasmine
• Elusive, metallic Iris, smelling the way silver might smell

Base notes:
• Velvety-soft Amber- a tranqulizer in fragrance form
• Syrupy Wood Resin, hinting of a raunchy breed of vanilla
• Cool but sensual Cedarwood

Bond No. 9's Andy Warhol's Silver Factory will be available only in 100 ml flacons (that's about 3.3 ounces), and you can buy it starting December 2007 at the company's four boutiques in New York, Bond No 9.com, Saks Fifth Avenue nationwide and Saks.com

Bond No. 9 Perfumes

Bond No. 9 is not your normal perfumery company. While it seems like most companies are simply trying to collect celebrity fragrances, Bond No. 9 has been trying to turn back the clock on perfume, and restore artistry to the practice. To accomplish this task Bond No. 9 is collecting perfumes dedicated to New York neighborhoods, rather than celebrities! Each perfume really does have a personality of its own and each fit the personality of that local.

Bond No. 9's creator, Laurice Rahmé has ensured that everything about the line is different, from the quality of the ingredients in the perfume to the way it is purchased! First, the perfume itself contains a much higher percentage of eau de parfums than others on the market at 18-22%. In the store, the perfumes are purchased very differently than other brands, where you chose a cellophane-wrapped box.
In the store, they have "Anti-Spritzers" which are large mannequins that hold amphoras. You can sample each perfume from these, but you also fill your bottle from these Anti-Spritzers. I think one of the most unique things about Bond No. 9 is that in the store, you have a huge array of bottles and spritzers, and then fill the bottle! The bottle is refillable at the store, and they actually encourage you to mix fragrances.

I'll be reviewing a few fragrances from Bond No. 9 this week, but if you are new to the company (or if you are looking for a great Christmas present), I strongly suggest checking out Bond's Bon-Bon Box (pictured above) or Perfumista's Box, both of which contain 16 individual 0.2 ml travel sized fragrances.
