Tarte Amazonian Clay Blush Palette Color Wheel Review and Swatches

Tarte Amazonian Clay Blush Palette Color Wheel Review and Swatches
Tarte Amazonian Clay Blush Palette Color Wheel Review and Swatches

One of my all time favorite Tarte products has to be their Amazonian Clay Blushes. The colors have just the right amount of pigmentation, they show up but don't overwhelm your face and are just so pretty! I had some years ago, but hit the pan and never replaced them when I finished them. The life of a beauty blogger... you have so much other stuff that sometimes it is very hard to justify purchasing a favorite product again.

When I was drooling over the new holiday shadow palettes they released, this new blush color wheel palette caught my eye. It's a great way to get a selection of the blushes that I like so much, but I don't need to have the full sized versions!

Hourglass Ambient Lighting Edit - Surreal Light Review and Swatches

I've heard the hype for a long time. Those Hourglass Ambient Highlighters... amazing! My friends (mostly beauty bloggers) have been raving about them, snapping them up as soon as new ones are released, discussing in Facebook groups when the next version will be released... it goes on and on. And I've been over here in the corner going... really? Is it really that special? And refusing to buy. Because really, those shimmer powders seem expensive, and they're always sold out so...

But, yes, they're always sold out. Is there maybe a reason?

So, when this new palette was released on Sephora's website recently, I snapped it up. I was finally going to try this stuff out, and this palette had enough different types of the Ambient Lighting powders, that I kind of felt like I was getting an ok deal.

Too Faced Chocolate Shop Palette Review and SwatchesToo Faced Chocolate Shop Palette Review and Swatches

My obsession with holiday palettes continues! Every year Too Faced comes out with a huge holiday collection, with a bunch of palettes. And while I have found the shadows in these palettes to be a bit more powdery than their normal palettes, they are still very well pigmented, blend well and the colors are great! In short, they're a steal. And the real issue is deciding which on you're going to buy.

This year I bought the Sephora Exclusive Chocolate Shop set.

Read on to see pictures, swatches and see if this year's palette lives up to previous year's palettes.

I am a complete and total sucker for holiday palettes. If you look in my vanity drawer at home, you'll find a huge selection of holiday palettes, and this year already seems to have even better palettes than in the past! I've already splurged on the Tarte palettes from their site and Sephora, and I'm trying really hard to not buy the one from ULTA as well, but... we'll see!

Of the palettes I've bought so far, this one is the one I've been reaching for most often. Read on to learn more about it and see swatches of each of the shadows!

The Perfect Nude Shadow Palette For The Pale Girls: Bare Minerals Nudes Review and Swatches

I'm a big sucker for an eye shadow palette, especially if that palette is neutral! I bought this shadow palette from my local ULTA about 3 weeks ago and have really loved it! I find that the shimmery shadows are perfect for my pale skin, they don't wash me out but also don't look chalky on my skin.

You can read on to see why I love it so much, but be warned... this Summer 2016 release is already hard to find! It's barely June, and I can no longer find it on the ULTA website, and it seems to only be on the BareMinerals UK Site. If you see one at your local ULTA, be sure to snag it!

Charlotte Tilbury Instant Look Palette Review, Swatches and Quick Look

I'm a sucker for a good palette. Usually I want eye shadow only palettes. Shadows that work together easily in a preset trio or quad, neutrals that are all interchangeable, I want them!

However, recently I heard about this new all encompassing palette from Charlotte Tilbury, and I knew that I had to have it. The palette has 3 shadows that work together for a pretty, glowy look, a bronzer, 2 blushes and a highlighter. It's everything you need a neutral look in 1 palette, it all works together and is perfect for throwing in to your gym bag, taking with you when you're traveling or to just grab on a day that you're in a rush.

Read on to see swatches and how the palette looks when I use it!

It Cosmetics Naturally Pretty Essentials Shadow Palette: Review, Swatches and Quick Look Tutorial

It Cosmetics Naturally Pretty Essentials Shadow Palette: Review, Swatches and Quick Look TutorialIt Cosmetics Naturally Pretty Essentials Shadow Palette: Review, Swatches and Quick Look Tutorial

So, I'm not usually a matte eye shadow girl. I always think it is just kind of... boring. I want a little shimmer. Not a lot, but a little. Something to catch a little light. I usually use some satin and shimmer shadow in every eye look.

And then I read on someone's blog (or maybe it was a YouTube video? I think that was more likely) that some makeup artist claimed any shimmer on the lids was tacky. Tacky. WHAT?? I argue that's wrong. I certainly don't bling myself out like a disco ball on the regular.

But this stuck with me. So, I started to break out a few matte shadows that I had at home. They were, as expected, a bit... blah. Boring.

Then It Cosmetics (one of my favorite brands, I truly believe they can do no wrong), sent me an unexpected box. And inside was this cute little palette of essential shadows. And they say they are pretty! It's there, in the name! And if things are too matte for me, then I can always add a little of their transforming pearl shadow.

So, did this cute little palette change my mind about matte shadows?

NARSissist Toujours L'Amour Eyeshadow Palette Review and swatch

Have you seen the newest NARS shadow palette yet? It is everything. Everything.

The shadows are just a little bit creamy almost, very well pigmented, and they blend very well. They last all day, but I still recommend using them over a lid primer as usual. I love that the palette has a nice range of neutral shadows but a few not-crazy accent colors.

Laura Mercier Candleglow Luminizing Palette

I'm a sucker for anything that makes me look glowy. I want to look like I'm lit from within. Especially on days that I got almost no sleep the night before and I don't look great (spoiler: I got about 4 hours of sleep the night before I took these pics. So don't harp on my undereye bags, they are much better looking in the pics than they were before I put on makeup!)

Bobbi Brown Telluride Palette Review, Swatches and Quick Look Tutorial

Bobbi Brown released her Telluride palette in the middle of the summer, and it is really amazing for the transition to fall! The colors are warm and cozy, but not too dark. There's just the right amount of shimmer, and I've totally fallen for it! It's limited edition, but you can still buy it at Sephora, Bobbi Brown, or Nordstrom.

Urban Decay Smoky Palette Swatch and Review

Urban Decay released their Smoky Palette earlier this summer and the blogosphere went nuts. I bought the palette on the first day it was available, basically stalking the Urban Decay website until it appeared!

And once it came... I wasn't quite sure what to do with it.

The colors are beautiful. As usual, Urban Decay has created shadows that are well pigmented, blend well and last all day, particularly when used over one of their Primer Potions.

Top 10 Tuesday: My Favorite Neutral Eye Shadow Palettes

I love a good eye shadow palette, and if the shadows are neutral, then I love it even more! Here's a peek at the neutral shadow palettes that I'm obsessing over right now. And really, is it any surprise that the first 3 are from Bobbi Brown, given my recent obsession? I didn't think so!

1. Bobbi Brown Greige Eye Palette: The newest one from Bobbi, this really is full of the perfect taupey-grey beige colors. Both matte and shimmer. Read my full Greige Eye Palette review and swatches, buy the palette from Bobbi Brown or Nordstrom.

2. Bobbi Brown Secret to Standout Eyes: This was the special palette from the Nordies Anniversary sale, but you can buy it still, just at a slightly higher price now. It's taken up permanent residence on my vanity counter, it is pointless to put it away! I'm hoping Bobbi releases Oyster as a shadow single, I'll probably hit pan in the next month or so. Here is my Secret to Standout Eyes review, you can buy the palette from Bobbi Brown or Nordstrom.

3. Bobbi Brown Shimmering Sands Eye Palette: Check out my full Shimmering Sands Palette Review and Swatches, you can buy the palette still from Bobbi Brown or Sephora.

4. Too Faced Boudoir Eyes: This is one of my old stand bys, I'm on my 2nd palette. Yes, I repurchased a palette. That is love people. Read my Too Faced Boudoir Eyes review, you can buy it from Too Faced or Sephora.

5. Urban Decay Naked: How could you have a neutral palette list without this palette? You can't. It's a classic and it works for everyone. It is definitely worth the steep price! Buy it from Urban Decay, Sephora or Nordstrom.

6. Urban Decay Naked Basics: This palette is filled with the neutral mattes that go perfectly with the Naked palette, and there's a #2 version to go with Naked2 (I have both, but prefer this version). Definitely get it if you find you are hitting pan on the neutral mattes you need to create looks and you're hitting pan! Buy it from Urban Decay, Sephora or Nordstrom.

7. Urban Decay Naked2: I think this palette is likely the most universally useful/flattering of the 3 Naked Palettes. Buy it from Urban Decay, Sephora or Nordstrom.

8. Urban Decay Naked3: This isn't for everyone, the rose-gold leaning of this palette is definitely easier for some to pull off than others. But, it's the Naked palette I reach for the most! Buy it from Urban Decay, Sephora or Nordstrom.

9. MAC Nordstrom Naturals Eyeshadow Palette: There are slightly different versions of this palette, but this one is my favorite. It has MAC shadows like Satin Taupe, Carbon and All That Glitters. For an amazing price! I use mine frequently. I have pictures taken, I'll try to get a full review up soon! Buy it from Nordstrom.

10. Stila Eyes Are the Window Shadow Palette in Soul: I have this in Soul and Spirit, and I use them a lot! I use Soul a little more frequently, that's why I've featured it here. Check out my Stila Eyes are the Window Shadow Palette Review and Swatches, you can buy it at Sephora, ULTA or Nordstrom.

Bobbi Brown's New Greige Eye Shadow Palette Review and Swatches: Buy It!

I Bought It Affiliate Links

Bobbi Brown Greige Eye Shadow Palette

Hello, my name is Christine, and I am a Bobbi Brown Addict. I can not help it, I have a sudden, overwhelming urge to buy. all. the. Bobbi. Brown. I must have it!!

The Telluride collection recently came out (and, yes, I have some of it, I need to edit my pictures to write about it), but the Greige palette is where it's at. OMG. Yes, if you like Bobbi Brown, you need this palette (and The Secret to Standout Eyes, which is a great companion palette. They work very well together).

Bobbi Brown Greige Eye Shadow Palette

Just a quick glance at the shadows and you can see why I love this palette so much. It's classic Bobbi Brown. This is a smallish compact, the outside is a faux navy leather, and the inside is very sleek, and it includes a large mirror on the inside. It closes with a nice metallic click, and I don't worry that it would accidentally open when I travel with it. Note, I wouldn't necessarily carry it open in a big tote, but it would be just fine in a makeup bag to carry around every where.

Bobbi Brown Greige Eye Shadow Palette
Bobbi Brown Greige Eye Shadow Palette

The shadows are swatched over Too Faced Shadow Insurance Primer, pictures in indirect natural sunlight.

You can see that they are pretty average in pigmentation for Bobbi Brown shadows, which is less than other department store brands like MAC. (Which, I have to say, are sometimes so pigmented that I do think they can be hard to use.)

To get the most out of these shadows, I actually layer 2 shadow primers. I start with a shadow primer base, usually my NYX Eye Shadow Base because it provides coverage and hides any visible blood vessels. Then I pat a light layer of e.l.f. Essential Glitter Primer on to my mobile lid, which is where I want my pigment to be the most... well, pigmented. It does take about 1 extra minute for the 2nd primer, but the results are well worth it! I can then layer on my shadows. The shadow lasts all day, looking perfect the entire time.

Bobbi Brown Greige Eye Shadow Palette Quick Look

Here's a peek at how I looked a few days ago using the palette. This is a very simple look, I have Greystone on my mobile lid, Brown Haze in my crease and Ivory above that on the brow bone. I lined my eyes with Bobbi Brown Perfectly Defined Gel Eyeliner in Chocolate Truffle and finished with Bobbi Brown Smokey Eye Mascara.

You can buy the Bobbi Brown Greige Eye Shadow Palette from Bobbi Brown, Macy's, Bloomingdale's, Nordstrom, or Neiman Marcus.

Stila Spirit and Soul Palettes Review and Swatches

This post has been a long time coming. I bought the Stila Eyes are the Window Spirit and Soul Palettes in August 2014, on a pre-birthday vacation run to ULTA for travel sized body wash and shampoo. The palettes had just come out and while the reviews were mixed, I'm a big fan of all things Stila, and especially Stila shadows. So, I splurged and bought both for myself. And obviously I took them on my trip the next day, so my pics are post-first use (sorry! It was my birthday, birthdays come before beauty blogging!)

Too Faced Rock n' Roll Palette Review and Swatches

Too Faced Rock n' Roll Palette Review and Swatches via 15MinuteBeauty.com

I'm not sure why it has taken me soooo long to get this post up, but it really has. (I guess I did mention this palette over in my Makeup Wars: Must Have Makeup Palettes post earlier this month.)

When Too Faced released their Rock n' Roll and Country Palettes this summer, I was convinced that I would be using Country much more often. Instead it's the Rock n' Roll palette that has taken up permanent residence on my vanity counter.

close look at Too Faced's Rock and Roll Eye Shadow Palette

There are 9 shades included in this palette, and 7 of them are brand new (I really am not sure which 2 are the oldies). Like other Too Faced palettes they're organized into "looks", though I usually don't use them in this way, I tend to skip around picking what I feel like for that day.

Swatch picture of Too Faced Rock n' Roll Eye Shadow Palette via 15minutebeauty.com

I've found that New Romantic is perfect for my entire lid. I like to use a little Glam Rock in my crease. Those 2 together are great as a neutral look. From there I'll sometimes add one of the darker colors at my lash line (usually over a black liner, I use a stiff angled brush to add just a bit of color), and sometimes New Wave will find its way into my inner corner or onto my brow bone.

This is a great palette, definitely check it out if you need some good neutrals and want a little fun color too!

Makeup Wars: Must Have Makeup Palettes

Makeup Wars: Must Have Makeup Palettes via 15MinuteBeauty.com

1. Stila Eyes Are the Window Shadow Palettes in Soul: I own 2 of these palettes, and I swear that I've taken pics and will eventually post them, but I really do love them. I bought them just before my birthday in August, and I use them 3 or 4 days a week! I know they got mixed reviews by other bloggers, but for me they're perfect. I'm a big fan of Stila's formula, I like having so many shimmery neutrals together, and the mirror is huge, which is really great for travel!

2. Too Faced Country Palette: I somehow haven't yet posted my pictures of the Country and Rock n Roll Palettes. I use both palettes together, the Country Palette seems to be difficult for me to use without New Romantic in the Rock n Roll palette.

3. Too Faced Boudoir Eyes Soft & Sexy Eye Shadow Collection (my Too Faced Boudoir Eyes Review): This is one of my default every day palettes. Birthday Suit is an amazing neutral for me, If I'm pressed for time I immediately reach for it and just do a simple wash of color over my entire lid.

4. Too Faced Rock n Roll Palette: I reach for this all the time! You can check out my review of the Too Faced Rock n Roll Palette here.

5. Urban Decay Naked2 Palette: This is my favorite of the 3 Naked Palettes. I think it is the most wearable by people of all skin tones.

6. Urban Decay Naked2 Basics: This is the newest Naked Basics, and it was created to really pair up with Naked2. I don't think you need both Basics palettes, so if you have Basics 1, then I'd skip it.

7. Too Faced Everything Nice Set: I'm always a sucker for the Too Faced Holiday sets and this is my favorite so far this year! Watch for a review soon!

8. Tarte Bon Voyage Collector's Set: This is the Tarte Sephora exclusive and it's pretty amazing! A lot of neutral shadows and fun extras that come in easy to travel with sizes.
