Get the Look: Kat Dennings' Straight Hair on Two Broke Girls

Kat Dennings' Straight Hair on Two Broke Girls
Celebrity Hairstylist Pixie Schwartz has been experimenting more with Kat Dennings' signature curls, she recently shared how she created this sleek style.

1. To style it straight, use White Sands The Cure 24/7, making sure to work evenly through damp hair. The leave in treatment helps to repair damaged hair fibers and make hair stronger, smoother, and shinier.

2. Blow dry, section by section until dry using a flat brush for a sleek look and then a round brush for more movement and bend at the ends to accentuate the long layers.

3. Finish with a flat iron & work through White Sands Orchids Oil for added brilliance and to tame flyaways.

Two Broke Girls with Amazing Hair: How to Get the Styles

How to get the look from Two Broke Girls Curly Hair
Have you seen that CBS show, 2 Broke Girls? I'm sure quite a few of you have, given it won the 2012 People's Choice Award for Favorite New TV Comedy. In truth, I hate this show. It's not amusing, too many stereotypes, etc. I won't even watch it on a plane.

But! I think the girls in the show have great hair. It makes me like them, and feel sorry for their predicament of being stuck on an annoying show that is doing well. So, when White Sands (the company that supplies their hair products) sent out directions on how to recreate the looks yourself, I knew I had to share. Remember, this is just hair.

1. Apply a curl enhancing medium hold mousse to damp hair at roots and work through to ends - diffusing without a product can create frizz.

2. Divide hair into sections and spray on Liquid Texture Firm Hold Thermal Styling Spray. Liquid texture will protect the hair from heat but also adds hold and shine!

3. Then, take a one-inch section and begin to curl by placing the iron 3-5 inches away from the scalp. Roll iron under and towards scalp - most of hair will be hanging out of curling iron when you begin this step. Be sure to alternate the direction of the curl as you work for a more organic feel.

4. Shake out hair and separate with fingers, applying a small amount of White Sands Orchids Oil to finish.

1. Preparation is key to a great blow out! Apply Liquid Texture Soft Hold Thermal Styling Spray to the hair and then divide combed hair into sections and secure with clips or ponytail holders.

2. Dry using a paddle or large Mason Pearson Brush. By slightly stretching the hair as you go you'll avoid ends that flip.

3. When hair is completely dry, apply a small amount of White Sands Orchids Oil to the ends.

4. Finish with a light spray of White Sands Infinity Hairspray.

New Mommy Beauty: Hair Tips from White Sands' Fernando Salas

Mommy, New Mom, Beauty, Tricks, Hints, Time Savers

Fernando Salas is the CEO & Creator of White Sands Hair care, a brand that I've had great luck with in the past. Fernando started as a hair dresser, and with his family built up the White Sands brand, creating amazing products that really do give the amazing results they promise. My favorite White Sands product is probably The Fix, which I use 3-4 times a week, creating shine and making my hair look healthier.

Fernando had some great tips about hair color during pregnancy and avoiding horrible roots!

For a mom who wants color or highlights, but has limited time to visit a salon: Opt for subtle highlights meaning few in number which will make your color last longer because this will not show re-growth. Have your stylist choose the tone of the highlights from the flex of your eyes. But, make sure your colorist does not bleach then tone, because the tone in the bleach will fade and you will be left with white hair. (Thus showing re-growth) Compliment your subtle highlights with White Sands Color Secure Shampoos and Conditioners to make your color last even longer at home.

We see a great number of women going through pregnancy and of course as new or experienced moms. There are some noticeable differences in the hair of these women at different phases of pregnancy and certainly post-partum.

Pregnant women typically experience increased hair growth (length and thickness) due to their bodily changes occurring during pregnancy and as a result of pre-natal vitamins. For women with normally thin or wimpy hair, this can be a real bonus (hair and nails like they have never had before!). We also often see hair texture change from curly to straight or vice versa. This can also be a bonus for some while a not so welcome change for others depending on what they are used to.

During pregnancy the condition of the hair tends to be pretty nice so we focus on keeping it trimmed and we don't hesitate to do color services. This is a question we receive quite often "can I color my hair during pregnancy"? The answer is of course you can. Today’s color products are so advanced and nothing we use on the hair for color will be absorbed into the skin so there is nothing to fear. Hair color can be a wonderful way to make a pregnant woman feel beautiful at a time when her body is changing so dramatically.

Fast and Easy Perfect Beachy Waves. Really.

asy waves, jen aniston, wavy hair, style, rollers, white sands velcro
What do these girls all have in common? The perfect easy beachy waves. I love, love, love this style. It works for casual every day things like going to the store, works for going out, and you can even take it to the red carpet. There's a reason it has been Jen Aniston's Go-To hair style for so many years.

But, it can be surprisingly hard to achieve. There are a ton of tutorials on how to do this on-line, most involve a curling iron, a rounded 1" flat iron (which is kinda cheating since you are using it as a curling iron), or braiding wet hair. My issue with most of these is that rather than creating waves, I'm creating curls (which look more like Giselle does above, when I'd prefer to look more like Jen or Kate). In the case of braiding the hair isn't usually wavy, I end up with uneven kinks.

So, how to get actual waves that come out perfect each time?
