New Mommy Beauty: Perfect Brows Make Looking Great Easy!

Mommy, New Mom, Beauty, Tricks, Hints, Time Savers

Malynda Vigliotti is the guru over at the Boom Boom Brow Bar in New York, a place you can be sure I'll be visiting next time I'm in the 212! Like me, she believes that if your brows look good it is easier to keep everything else looking good. So, investing a few minutes in your brows to keep them looking in shape means that any time you manage to spend on the rest of your look will look that much better.

Read on for some great quick brow tips from the Boom Boom Brow Bar!

For quick, great brows every day at home:
1. Trim your brows! Long brows that stand out or fall? They need a trim!
At home, brush brows upwards with a disposable mascara wand and trim excess hair slightly - not too short or it will make a hole. Brush the brows down and do the same.

2. Set Brows Brows that are unruly or stubbornly going the wrong way need to be set straight.
Trim carefully and set with Boom Boom's Brow-ssiere. Setting your unruly brows with brow gel makes them look neat and polished all day long and strong. It's clear, so it's foolproof and it won't ever flake, promise. It's actually conditioning - lovely!

Trouble Shooting
Too thin?
Step away from the tweezers and let them grow in for one whole month. I always tell everyone that if they suck it up for one month, they can rehab their brows. I know tweezing is an addiction and you will feel like a mess, but help is on the way. Boom Boom's Push-Up brow highlighting pencil to the rescue. It will conceal all the straggler's during the struggle. Most importantly, make a brow appointment for one month from your start date - it’s easier to stick with a plan if help is on the horizon.

Have a hole?
This can be due to over-tweezing and/or trimming too short. Simple solution - Boom Boom Brow Boostiers (comes in four colors). A brow powder is really easy to work with and very natural looking. A perfect angled brush helps fill in the holes in the nic of time. Just dab on the spot and go. Advice, don’t over-think it, just follow the line and fill in the hole. It's that simple.

Has anyone seen my arch?
The best brows have a slight arch. To find yours, hold the brush parallel to the outside edge of the colored part of your eye (the iris). Where the brush meets the brow is where the highest part of your brow should be. Assess the situation. Brush the brow upward and then out. See exactly where you are missing the hair and fill in with Boom Boom Boostier brow powder. Again, fill in the necessary spot, but do NOT create a new line, that's where things get funky.

There are three scenarios to be mindful of 1) Do they start too far out? 2) Did you tweeze them into rainbows thinking you would get a better brow? 3) Are they too short? Any one of these will lose your arch and we need to get it back. You'll need a professional consult.

Yikes, I over plucked!
You can start using castor oil on your brows every night to help speed up the growth process. It is one of the active ingredients in most brow and lash products, and hello, it's affordable. Latisse is known to work wonders as well. BUT above all, step away from the tweezers!

My brows are short
The space between your brows should be equal to, or a little wider than, your eyes. To find where your brow should go, take a long eye shadow brush or pencil and hold it parallel to the side of your nose. Where the brush meets your brow is where your brow should begin. To find the end of your brow, extend the brush diagonally from your nostril, following the outside edge of your eye toward the brow. Where the inside edge of the brush hits is where your brow should end.

My brows are asymmetrical
Good news is, everyone's are. No two are a like. So pick the one you love and try to get the other to cooperate by making it look proportional. You now have the tricks of the trade.
