PixiGlow FOTD: How to Get the Tinker Bell Look

pixiglow FOTD
Yesterday I shared with you my review and swatches of the PixiGlow Collection. I couldn't resist sharing my first face of the day (FOTD) with the products!

Read on to see what I used.

Face
First, I prepped my face with a light moisturizer, on this day it was my beloved Kiehl's Ultra Facial SPF 15 since I'm testing a night moisturizer but not a daytime one.

Once it absorbed I was able to start applying my foundation, which was Laura Mercier's Oil Free Suprême Foundation. (It's coming out in April, watch for a review later this week.) I apply first with my fingers to the center of my face and working outwards, with the coverage tapering as I leave my t-zone. I semi-blend it with my fingers and then use my Beauty Blender sponge to really blend it in seamlessly.

I apply my concealer next (I'm not sure what I used this day, I think it was Estée Lauder Double Wear). I use my fingers to put a small amount under my eyes, around my nose and on any blemishes. Pat just a little to get it where you want it, but don't blend it in! I always over blend and then end up removing it. I got this tip from a MaskCara video tutorial, simply pat until it is in the right spot, and then when you apply your powder and buff the powder, that will blend in your concealer. It works much better!

Then, I finally applied my powder. I'm currently using a pressed powder from Maybelline, but it seems to be a bit too obvious in person, I don't think it is finely ground enough. I need to pick up something else. I apply in my t-zone and over the concealer, then use a kabuki brush to blend and buff it all in place.

Eyes
I'm a big fan of using a primer, and lately that's been a NYX lid primer that comes in a pot. While it isn't quite as long lasting as Urban Decay's version, it is easier to use, does a better job of covering up my lid vessels and is way cheaper.

Next I used the shadows from the palette above. I applied the lid color up and into my crease, then the lighter color above that and up onto my brow bone. Finally I used a pointed brush to apply the darker color into my crease. I then blended it all very slightly until there weren't really harsh lines.

I next used the liner along my upper lash line. I like to really push the liner down in between my lashes and then I line a second time just above the lash roots. I use a liner brush to help blend it together. I did a light line just outside of my waterline on the lower lid for extra definition.

I curled my lashes and used the Milani Runway Lashes mascara to finish off my eyes.

Lips
I applied a light layer of the Magic Tink Tint on my lips. Once applied it darkened very quickly to the pretty pink you see here!

Cheeks and Highlighting
Blush is always my last step since I seem to over do it unless my eyes and lips are already completed. I blended all 3 of the blushes in the palette together and applied mostly to the apples of my cheeks with a brush.

I used the Pixi Dust as a highlighter along my nose, the inner corner, brow bone and upper cheek bone. It is a powder, so just tap the wand were you want it and then blend with fingertips. In person it is pretty subtle (and it doesn't even show up in the pics), very pretty!

This collection is available at Target and the Pixi website.
