True story: just yesterday I was in the doctor’s office, and while the nurse asked questions about my medical history she exclaimed, “Your skin is flawless!” I thanked her for the compliment, but explained that my makeup truly deserved the praise. Her sweet reply was that my makeup was surely just the frosting on the cake. This reminded me of a sitcom I recently watched. A couple had volunteered to bake a cake for a fundraiser, but naturally things somehow went horribly wrong during the baking process. With no time left to bake a new cake, they instead decided to put frosting on an old box, bid on their own fake cake at the event, and no one would be the wiser. The cake looked delicious… but underneath it all it was still an old box.
In case you haven’t gotten it by now, my skin is the old box covered in delicious frosting!
I’m thrilled to be here today to share my quick and easy Summer morning routine with other women who demand a 15 minute morning regimen.
Firstly, during the summer sunscreen is essential! I’m loving 1. Revision Skincare Multi-Protection SPF 50. This product gives my skin the moisture it needs and wears so well under makeup! Plus, it’s an SPF50! $48.
As a foundation, I’ve been loving 2. NARS Tinted Moisturizer. This tinted moisturizer delivers more coverage than any other formula I’ve ever tried, but is still light enough to look like you don’t even have anything on! $42.
3. Bobbi Brown Corrector is a MIRACLE for dark under eye circles, and also conceals redness and hyperpigmentation better than any other concealer I’ve ever used. $22.
4. MAC Extra Dimension Skinfinish in Superb has been my bronzer of choice. This bronze shade isn’t too dark for my ultra-pale skin, and the finish looks youthful and dewy, but is devoid of glitter and shimmer. $29.
I know it’s not the “new kid” on the block, but my favorite eye palette for 2012 is still 5. Make Up For Ever La Boheme Eye Shadow Palette from their Spring collection. The palette is a succinct 6 shades (the only six I really need) with two tried-and-true neutrals, a peach, teal, green and lavender. The colors are vivid and the frosty finish is eye opening! $39.
Lately I’ve been having a ton of fun with colorful eye makeup. I’ve been pairing 6. Urban Decay Bourbon ($19) on the top lash line with 7. Make Up For Ever Khol Pencil in 10K ($17) on the lower lash line.
On the lips, I’ve been heavily biased toward dark neutral shades, like 8. NARS Bilbao ($24). I love 9. MAC Pro Longwear Lipcreme as well, and am wearing Love Long Distance in my headshot ($17).
Jennifer Sesta is a full-time Mom of two boys, and the editor of four blogs including Raging Rouge, a blog filled with beauty reviews, product launch information and makeup swatches.
I love her picks!
ReplyDeleteI have been using the Bobbie Brown Corrector for at least a year now, under my concealer, but I am still having problems with my under eye darkness showing through. I guess there is just no help for me, and this problem. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the feature, Christine! I LOVED pulling this together!
ReplyDeleteGreat line up of products Jen, I love the Mac Extra Dimension Skin Finish:)
ReplyDeleteHi C-K! Maybe the trouble is how you are applying the Corrector? Try to keep the product thicker in the areas needing more coverage. Patting it on gently helps. This is what I do on the hyperpigmentation and rosacea on my cheeks.
ReplyDeleteI'm going to have to try that Bobby Brown corrector - I have terrible circles under my eyes
ReplyDeleteI swear by both the Bobbi Brown Corrector, and ANY of the MAC Skinfinish product lineup. Those are superb products, in my experience!
