I'm one of the estimated 16 million Americans with rosacea, and I can tell you that it isn't fun having persistent redness. In addition to visible capillaries and blemishes, I have persistent redness. While most rosacea sufferers will cover it up with makeup (77% of those with rosacea wear makeup compared to 53% of those without rosacea), there's another option. Mirvaso ® (brimonidine) topical gel, 0.33%* is a prescription drug that will combat persistent facial redness; you should talk to your doctor about whether it is right for you.
Mirvaso has created a website to provide skin care and rosacea redness information. I was a bit shocked to discover how many women with rosacea are covering up with makeup. Mirvaso is also holding an amazing sweepstakes for a chance to win a trip to the Emmy's!

Great and helpful information, Even though I am not struggling through this problem but some of my friends are facing this problem from long time.. I will suggest them to check their website and consult with the doctor :)
ReplyDeleteJust a question...a long time ago I had asked you about laser hair removal and you said you would never comment/post on your site about things that require a medical professional as you did not want your comments to be misconstrued as medical advise. As you can imagine, was surprised to see a sponsored post about a prescription medication. I was wondering what made you change your mind about this personal policy for your blog.
ReplyDeleteBig thumbs down to the sponsored post.
ReplyDeleteSo, there's a big distinction for me between mentioning a product and recommending to go use a product/service, especially from a specific place, when that product isn't "over the counter". Saying to go get laser hair removal from a specific location is medical advice in my mind, but saying that Mirvaso has a website with a cool contest, that's very different to me. Until the lawyers added the huge disclaimer, that's all this was, Mirvaso was mentioned but this was (is?) a post telling you to go read the derm tips (which I do think are helpful) and enter to win a cool trip.
ReplyDeleteThere were many, MANY phone calls and reviews with lawyers about disclaimers before I agreed to do these posts, with the understanding that if you actually read what I wrote (before it was altered by lawyers, it was a bit more obvious) that me telling you to go check out the derm's advice and enter the contest. Because that's a pretty cool prize. At no point do I tell you to try the medication or endorse it, I've never used Mirvaso (though I have friends that have, some are beauty bloggers too, so you might see it popping up in some blogs around the blogosphere). I'm telling you there are tips and a contest.
The unfortunate thing with having a blog this large is that there are costs involved with keeping the site running. I have ads, but to avoid being overwhelmed with ads on my site I do sponsored posts. 99% of the time, I do ones that I think are something I'd love to post anyways, like the hair tutorial I did the other day with Sally Beauty. This is the first time I really debated about participating in the sponsorship, because it feels less like organic content to me, but in the end I thought telling you about the tips and contest were fine. And because I follow FTC guidelines, I disclose that it was sponsored.
Trust me, many other bloggers you read do sponsored posts too, but they aren't disclosing as they should be. That hair tutorial I posted the other day with Sally Beauty? 5 other bloggers did it too. I don't know who all of them are, but I read one of the sites (she's very well known, I don't want to say more), and her post isn't disclosed at all. But, it has all of the same elements as mine, it was definitely part of the same sponsored series as mine. She just didn't bother to tell you they paid her for it.
edited because I lose grammar and spelling when hungry!
first off, i love this blog. secondly, i have rosacea (subtype 1) that is resistant to every prescription medication available currently. like everyone else, i was excited when i heard about mirvaso, but the rosacea forum i participate in discouraged me. most people who tried this product had very bad negative reactions. i feel it would be a disservice to not speak up and suggest that folks research this drug at roasaceagroup.org. this drug is still quite new, doctors who are prescribing it have not had much experience with it but rosaceans have. please, do yourselves a favor and read about this drug before deciding to try it. after reading about other people's experiences, i realized that i would never touch this stuff.
ReplyDeletei really do enjoy this blog. i do not mind sponsored posts when it is made clear to the reader, i realize that this too is work for you. i do want fellow rosaceans to be as informed as possible before considering mirvaso.
thanks,
cheryl
