Favorite Concealers

It's my turn to share a beauty collection with the rest of The Beauty Spotlight Team, and today in honor of my lack of sleep, I'm selecting my concealers. It is a bit scary how many concealers I own, I really didn't realize the true number (pretty close to 30) until putting together this post!

So, after much debate, here are my 10 favorites. Mostly super highly pigmented, because that's how I roll. (And you would too if you were 7 months pregnant, had a 3 year old and also got phone calls all night long from work.)

My Favorite Under Eye Concealers

1. Urban Decay 24/7 Concealer Pencil: Check out my review. This is really pigmented, creamy and you just need to draw it on and blend. It covers anything you would ever need covered.

2. IT Cosmetics Bye Bye Under Eye: Check out my review. Also very pigmented, but this concealer is a bit thick, so I usually mix it into other products or dilute it with a bit of eye cream. It won't crease after using it all day long and covers up everything!

3. Make Up For Ever Full Cover Concealer: Check out my review. Super easy to blend and it comes in a ton of shades, I liked this one so much that it delayed finishing my concealer review series a few years ago! I just wanted to use Full Cover every day.

4. Smashbox High Definition Concealer: I haven't reviewed this one yet, I bought it about 2 months ago and I've found it to be very similar to the MUFE Full Cover, but slightly more pigmented.

5. Laura Mercier High Coverage Concealer: Check out my review. Also very pigmented, lots of different depth and tone options, it blends really easily as well.

6. Smashbox Camera Ready BB Cream Eyes: Another concealer that I bought a few months ago and still need to review, this one is a bit lighter in coverage (I'd consider it a 6 or 7 on a scale up to 10), but it is so hydrating that it is also like an eye cream. It is really great on days that I haven't gotten much sleep and have bigger bags under my eyes, it will not sink into any little areas.

7. Amazing Cosmetics Amazing Concealer: I keep mentioning this concealer but I don't have a full post devoted to it! I've bought it 4 times now, and yes, it really is worth that high price tag. I think it is a little less pigmented than the IT Cosmetics, but easier to blend in seamlessly.

8. CoverGirl TruBlend Fixstick Concealer: I know I have a review around here somewhere, I just can't find it! This is pretty similar to the Urban Decay concealer stick, but a little less pigmented. It blends in flawlessly with just a few pats of your finger, which I love! It is great for using to contour.

9. Dermablend Quick Fix Concealer: Really easy to use, this stick is very pigmented and won't budge.

10. NYX Dark Circle Concealer: This has a little bit of a peach leaning, so it helps color correct under eye circles while covering them up!

What are your favorite concealers? I'm always looking for a new one!

  1. Great post Christine! As a girl of English, Scottish, and French Canadian descent, I can totally relate to the dark circle thing! :D I even have a first grade picture of me taken at school with dark circles! HA HA But seriously they have gotten much better. The concealer I am using now is Este Lauder Double Wear concealer. I wasn't so sure about it at first. It is a tad dryer than other concealers I have tried. but I tried it and loved it!!! it does not sink in any lines like I thought and you don't need that much, just pat it on. I use it with my Prescriptives All You Need For Eyes which I got as a sample. This feels so cool and good on my eyes and really has helped with my dark circles big time! :D I always seem to use too much so I extended the eye cream. (really looks like a gel), so I put it over my whole eye area and even put it over my eyebrows! Well, I have to tell you it really helped with the droopiness I had above my eyes and my brows even started to fill in. Really good I might add! :D Wow, this post is getting lengthy! HA HA

Bare Minerals Stroke of Light is another good one I used. I ran out and being it is a little pricey. I just started using the Este Lauder one I had. Funny how things seem to work out! I just recently purchased Tarte's Colored Clay CC in light/medium because it had a peachy tint too it and I have read about peachy colors being good for dark circles. It has all different color clays in it to help the skin. i always like that! i figured it was a good one to have in the arsenal, just in case! ;)

Anyway just wanted to let you know you are not alone in the concealer realm!!! :D Now see what you did getting me started on makeup. Just look at this long post!!! :D :D :D

  3. I, honest to goodness, cannot look into the mirror and identify the color under my eyes. Depending on the day, I can see even more than one color, as least I think I do. I am currently using a peach toned cream under eye concealer. It's okay, if I lost it tomorrow I wouldn't be sad. It's a thick cream in a jar, much like the NYX and it seems to want to bead up with my eye cream. Is it possible for there to be more than one color under the eye?

  4. Why hello, superwoman! :-D I'm actually in the process of searching for a new concealer right now, so this post came at a very good time! ^_^

I think the one that stands out to me from this list is the Urban Decay pencil, partly because it's one of the few brands here that I can get a hold of relatively easily (yay for living at the bottom of the Earth, heh!), and partly because no-one has to try very hard to recommend Urban Decay to me anyway... ;-)

I don't have much to suggest, partly because I've only ever used one concealer before, a Lancome one that is fine for undereyes (I suppose) but doesn't cover much and is much too peachy for blemishes. It does have excellent hold, however, and the tube lasts approximately forever (which is why I've only tried one!) :-D

  7. MUFE's concealers are one of the best! Surprised NARS Radiant Creamy Concealer isn't here :) Thanks for the comprehensive list!

  9. I'm using Maybelline for now and thinking about buying Dior if I find it here, but would like to try some others also and that's a great list to start with:)

  10. Kryola-Professional Make Up, Supracolor 576. Not only does it cover dark circles with ease, it eliminates redness and I use it to fill in expression lines. It is very dense, a little goes a long way. I have recently started dabbing a little of MAC gloss mixing medium under the eyes a few minutes before applying this product to reduce the dryness I sometimes feel in this area when wearing make up. It is a peachy colour, do not let this put you off, unless you have that very translucent blue, white skin. It is great on most other skin tones. Very reasonably priced.

  15. I have, but it isn't a good match for my skin so after trying it on I washed it off. I hear it's great, but they need more colors!

  16. i have about 30 concealers myself, the area under my eyes is sooo dark, and though I can cover it in the morning by mid morning I am reapplying, and again at least two more time during the day. I am at the point of giving up on finding anything, but I will try everything.also the skin under my eyes seems loose..I always appear tired no matter how much sleep I get, thanks for this, I will try them all if I have too

  17. The new Bare Minerals CC stick is a great starter for eyelids and under eye area. It's light coverage that also works as a primer. Then I use the Tarte waterproof stick concealer. It really covers purplish blue under eyes and redness/blemishes anywhere on my face.
