Your Best Face: A Great Scrub and Concentrates

Aging, Eye Cream, Moisturizer, Skin Care, Your Best Face
Today is the last day of recapping Your Best Face's products, yes a company that I love. Again, they feature Spin Traps, super high powered anti-oxidants that will help you prevent aging. I haven't mentioned it in my previous posts, but this is a company that you really need to follow on Twitter and Fan on Facebook. They have a ton of specials and I swear that they run at least one amazing contest a day on Twitter. (I try to retweet them from my Twitter feed, but I'm sure I miss a lot. Just follow them directly so you can win some great skin care.)

Today we'll go over a few more products, so read on to find out about the last few items in the line.

Your Best Face: Eye and Lip Creams

Your Best Face, Eye Cream, Anti-Aging, Skin Care, Spin Traps, antioxidants
Yesterday I covered 5 different products in the Your Best Face lineup, and today we'll go over four more. As a quick refresher, I'm going over the products at reader request, though this is one of my favorite anti-aging skin care companies.

In discussing starting an anti-aging skin care routine, I've mentioned that I do have an active ingredient check list (you'll see it after each product mentioned below), and I try to include each category in my routine. I think a sunscreen is a must for every day, and that sunscreen should be broad spectrum UVA/UVB with a SPF of 15 at a bare minimum, 30 is better. Once you have that down, you should start adding in other ingredients shown to help fight aging and increase cell turnover and collagen production. That means exfoliation (whether physical or chemical, I prefer chemical for more even and predictable results but that isn't possible during pregnancy), as well as adding in peptides and anti-oxidants (more preventative, they haven't been shown conclusively in clinical studies to reverse wrinkles). I like to add in a concentrated retinoid product after that, so you can add it in slowly as your skin tolerates (for me that means every other night usually).

So, that's my quick and dirty anti-aging routine philosophy. If you want more in depth than that or bigger guns to help fight the wrinkles, I strongly recommend going to a dermatologist. Chances are your insurance will cover it anyways (Hello??? Skin cancer check? I need to do this, probably in the next few months once I get this new mommy thing down), and you'll hopefully be surprised at what a derm tells you to do. I doubt they'll immediately try to sell you on crazy peels and lasers, they aren't a medi-spa. I'd expect a gentle cleanser, good moisturizer, the kind of sunscreen I mentioned above and help fighting aging after that (likely including the prescription strength retinoid).

After all of that rambling, I'll point out that I really like the Your Best Face products because they include Spin Traps (very powerful anti-oxidants), often include peptides and you can find cool perks like Nylon-12, which helps absorb oil for those of us with combination skin. So, they're a great option to include in that routine I mentioned above, where you can add in the retinoid every other night and such. My skin also seems to like them a lot, never a break out and my skin is nice and glowy.

Read out to find out more about today's products.

Your Best Face: Spin Traps to the Rescue!

Your Best Face: Spin Traps, anti-aging skin care, antioxidants
One of my favorite skin care brands is Your Best Face. They have a fairly wide range of products that are primarily focused around anti-oxidants, in particular Spin Traps. Spin Traps are among the most powerful anti-oxidants known, so if you are going to be including anti-oxidants as your primary anti-aging category, this is a good way to go. Note that very few companies use spin traps, but Your Best Face is one of them, hence my love.

Recently I had a Delurking Post in which I asked readers to comment about who they are (I'm curious! Who are these people that care what I think about lip gloss and eye cream??) and one of the commenters "The fake kind of doctor" said that she was interested in YBF's Prep scrub that I had brought up, but was waiting to order until I discussed some of their other products again.

Since I have pretty much their entire line sitting here, I thought a series of 3 posts in which I go over what is in each product and how I like it would be exactly what she needed. So, this is day #1. If products you're interested in aren't covered then just be patient, the next 2 days will have pretty much the exact same post as well.

Time for a (Quick) Deep Cleaning... Neutrogena and Your Best Face to the Rescue

Do you ever feel like no matter what you do, things are just a little bit... lackluster? Like your styling products are weighing your hair down more than usual, your skin isn't as glowy as it should be after that moisturizer or your pores are about to be filled to capacity? I have definitely been feeling like that lately. I'm sure the fact that I'm now about 6 1/2 weeks away from delivery (and hence, seem to need help even getting up from the sofa), doesn't really help the whole "not feeling quite like myself" situation.

Even though today was a work day, and hence I was a bit pushed for time in the shower, I decided to take matters a step further than usual and spend a whopping 2 extra minutes in the shower today and the difference was well worth the time. Read on to see what I did.

Your Best Face? Actually, yes!

Your Best Face Skin care review
Your Best Face is a relatively simple anti-aging collection They have only 4 products, containing incredible ingredients that really do help with aging. I've been using them for the last 3 weeks or so and have seen great results!

The real basis of these products in the ingredients. This is one of only a very small number of skin care products on the market containing spin traps. Huh? Yes, Spin Traps.

What is a spin trap? Actually, it is a unique form of anti-oxidant. Rather than simply neutralizing the harmful free radicals, spin traps actually take away the extra "bad" electron, returning the oxygen to normal and therefore usable. The spin traps are also much stronger than many other anti-oxidants at hunting down and neutralizing the free radicals.

Many of these products also contain sodium hylauronate (aka- hyaluronic acid, holds a lot of water to itself on the surface of the skin therefore is great at hydrating and plumping the skin), Vitamins B & E (anti-oxidants) as well as several peptides to help with collagen creation.

Defend: Oil Control
I've been reaching for Defend every morning, which has a great anti-shine capability that I've yet to find in another product. While it is white and creamy with a fruity smell, it does sink in immediately. I feel like it is hydrating my skin, and it really leaves no residue behind. My skin is perfectly prepared for makeup, no greasiness in sight!

The oil fighting properties of this product are amazing! I've tried anti-shine products in the past from Clarins and OC Eight, which are remarkable for not working well despite their high price. This product work well all day, requiring no powder or blotting touch-ups!

Defend Ingredients:
Reverse osmosis water, ppg-5 ceteth-20, sodium hyaluronate, propylene glycol, nylon 12, spin trap (phenyl butyl nitrone), palmitoyl pentapeptide-3, micronized titanium dioxide, cetearyl olivate and sorbitan olivate, paraben du, vitamin e

Control: Extra Collagen Building
Control contains many of the same ingredients as Defend, but rather than having oil fighting abilities this product has extra peptides to help build collagen and firm the skin. This lotion is a light orange color, feels rich and creamy and smells almost like grapes to me. It does feel great on my skin, and it quickly dries to a semi-matte finish. Perfect for applying makeup over!

Control Ingredients:
reverse osmosis water, argireline (acetyl hexapeptide-3), cyclomethicone, ppg-5 ceteth-20, matrixyl 3000 (palmitoyl oligopeptide, palmitoyl tetrapeptide-3), c10-30 alkyl acrylate crosspolymer, dimethyl isosorbide, ascorbyl tetraisopalmitate, spin trap (phenyl butyl nitrone), jojoba, nylon 12, idebenone, triethanolamine, alpha lipoic acid, polysorbate 20, sodium hyaluronate, vitamin e, paraben du

Correct: Eye Cream
The eye cream contains 25% peptides (wow, that is a huge amount!), spin traps and other anti-oxidants such as Vitamins A and E galore! I like that it also contains caffeine, which helps to immediately firm the skin. This is a thicker white lotion with the same grape/fruity smell as the other products. It takes a minute or two longer to sink into my skin. But, the extra time is well worth it, since the firming from the caffeine really does help to firm my bags and tighten the area. This is a great eye cream!

Correct Ingredients:
reverse osmosis water, licorice root extract, snap-8 (acetyl glutamyl hexapeptide-3), pepha-timp (polypeptide), cucumber extract, simugel (C16H34), syn-ake (tripeptide), haloxyl (hydroxysuccinimide, chrysin, palmitoyl oligopeptide (and) palmitoyl tetrapeptide-3), nutmeg butter, matrixyl 3000 (palmitoyl oligopeptide, palmitoyl tetrapeptide-3), dimethyl isosorbide, alpha arbutin, cyclomethicone (and) dimethicone copolyol, ethyhexyl palmitate, spin trap (phenyl butyl nitrone), glycerine, l-proline, provitamin B5, raspberry seed extract, alpha lipoic acid, sepilift DPHP (palmitoyl-1, palmitoyloxy-4 proline), triglyceride, paraben du, sodium hyaluronate, caffeine, cetearyl isononanoate, ceteareth-20, cetearyl alcohol, glyceryl stearate, cetyl palmitate, ceteareth-12, vitamin e, BHT, olive leaf extract, vitamin a, violet leaf extract, oakmoss absolute

Restore: Skin Lightening
Restore combines the anti-aging effects of the other products with a skin lightening ingredient, alpha arbutin. This ingredient is made from Bearberry plant, and it acts on Tyrosinase, an enzyme important in the synthesis of melanin. As well, it acts on some of the intermediate products of melanin creation to decrease overall melanin production. So, while it does create immediate results (since it isn't directly breaking down the melanin), overtime you will see skin lightening effects.

This lotion has a bit more of a liquid consistency than the other products, is milky white and has that grape-fruity scent that I like. It sinks in quickly, dries quickly to a semi-matte finish (perfect for applying makeup over it) and provides just the right amount of moisture for my combination skin!

Restore Ingredients:
reverse osmosis water, alpha arbutin, c10-30 alkyl acrylate crosspolymer, sodium hyaluronate, ppg-5 ceteth-20, ascorbyl tetraisopalmitate, spin trap (phenyl butyl nitrone), provitamin B5, paraben du, triethanolamine, polysorbate 20, vitamin e
