OPI I Brake for Manicures
Thursday, October 13, 2011OPI Road House Blues
Thursday, September 29, 2011When I received the OPI Touring America collection in the mail, I brought it in to work to share with my friends. (I swear these ladies were just as obsessed with nail polish and makeup as me before I got my hands on them. Now we all just feed into our obsessions together.)
They were all really excited to see the OPI fall collection about 10 days before release. What I found amusing was that all but 1 of them chose to do a manicure in this shade. This was the closest color pic I could take, it isn't *quite* this dark. In real life, the blue is slightly bluer, maybe 1/2 shade lighter than in this picture. Even this non-blue nail polish girl loves it!

Wednesday, September 21, 2011Nicole's It's Not Me it's Blue
Sunday, September 18, 2011I brought this color in to work the day after I got it in the mail. 2 friends immediately used it for manicures. In person it sometimes looks a little purple or a little bit more silver, depending upon the light.
3 coats to opaque, it is a little harder than a creme to remove due to the shimmer. Please ignore the ding on my index finger, I may have bumped it while still wet....

I bought Silver Shatter myself, Skull & Glossbones was a sample.

Saturday, May 14, 2011I'm not usually a big fan of the Jelly finish, so I had avoided the OPI Texas collection. However, on a recent trip to ULTA (with my new friend, Amanda, who is a reader! Hi Amanda!) I finally saw the polishes in person. I'm a big, giant sucker for the pink/purple tones in this range, so I had to pick it up.
While OPI called this a Sorbet finish, really it is a jelly finish. If calling it Jelly is a bit confusing, run over to check out my friend Michelle's explanation over at All Lacquered Up, since she recently tried out Big Hair, Big Nails from the same collection.
My big complaint with any jelly polish is the number of coats needed to avoid an uneven finish and visible nail line. I'm wearing 3 coats here, and I had enough coverage to make me happy. I took this picture on day #5 of my manicure and you can see that I had very minimal tip wear and no chips! I had been working in the ICU for 3 days as well during that period, so there are absolutely no wear issues with the sorbet finish.

OPI Skull and Glossbones
Tuesday, May 10, 2011Skull & Glossbones was definitely one of my most coveted colors from OPI's Pirates of the Caribbean collection, and I'm pleased to say it didn't disappoint!
This light grey only needed 2 coats to opaque and it applied like butter. Like buttah! It really reminds me of concrete and on my light coloring there is a little bit of green that comes out of the color.

OPI Spark de Triumphe Nail Polish with Navy Shatter
Wednesday, May 04, 2011OPI Spark de Triumphe Nail Polish with White Shatter
Tuesday, May 03, 2011OPI Spark de Triumphe Nail Polish
Monday, May 02, 2011OPI has been on an amazing roll. I can't believe how amazing their recent polishes have been. They were great before but now I want everything they release and then a back up bottle or two!
Spark de Triumphe is part of their collaboration with Serena Williams, and this is an obvious nod to the French Open. It comes in a duo pack with White Shatter as well (I'll share the two together tomorrow). Here I've shown how it looks with different numbers of layers (1-4 layers). Spark de Triumphe has a clear base and different shapes of small glitter. The glitter looks primarily gold here, but really it is more of a champagne color with some silver/gold leaning depending on the ambient light. It would work great as a sparkle top coat with 1 coat or in a more opaque finish with 3 coats (I didn't feel a 4th coat offered much other than thicker polish).
Spark de Triumphe is amazing under shatter. Check back tomorrow to see it with white!

Saturday, March 26, 2011
More information (and maybe a slightly closer look at the direction these shades will be taking) has been been released about the Fall OPI collection. Alas, no reds. I'm sure they'll make you red lovers happy with their holiday collections!
• Color to Diner For: I’ll take the rosy-red with a side of “awesome.”
• Honk if You Love OPI: Don’t let this gorgeous dark grape pass you by.
• I Brake for Manicures: This gorgeous eggplant-plum has our full attention.
• Uh-oh Roll Down the Window: You’re gonna wanna pull over for this “unexpected” olive green.
• Suzi Takes the Wheel: Buckle up—she’s not stopping until she gets to gray!
• I Eat Mainely Lobster: We “clawed” through crowds to catch this coral for you.
• Get in the Expresso Lane: An amped-up dark brown that’ll never letcha down!
• French Quarter for Your Thoughts: Want beads? Then show us your sexy gray nails!
• Are We There Yet?: Don’t make me reach back there and take that perfect melon shade!
• Road House Blues: In this case…R&B stands for “Really Blue.”
• A-taupe the Space Needle: You’ll climb to new heights with this creamy-rich taupe.
• My Address is "Hollywood": We put this pretty rose-pink on the map.
I have to admit, the fact that they are so dark makes me really interested in this collection. I'm a big sucker for dark nail colors and I know I won't be able to resist most of this collection. Do you have your eye on any of these colors in particular?

OPI Releases: Serena's French Open and Shatters!
Tuesday, March 22, 2011
Yet more information about upcoming OPI collections that I will need to purchase.
Some images arrived in my inbox today from the next installment of the OPI and Serena Williams. This mini-collection will be available in May 2011 in time for the French Open. It includes the Red and White Shatters, but check out the other colors! I definitely need them both.
• Rally Pretty Pink: Shimmering sunset-pink, to be paired with Red Shatter
• Spark de Triomphe: Silver glitter, to be paired with White Shatter
From the OPI Facebook page, today this image was released showing an entire collection of shatters! To be released this May, Black, White, Red, Blue, Turquoise, & Navy are included. This means you'll have a second chance to pick up shatters you may have missed, though note that the silver shatter seen with Pirates of the Caribbean isn't included.

OPI's Nice Stems!
Saturday, March 19, 2011This summer OPI is releasing a collection of 4 limited edition pinks that I think will have 3 perfect pedi colors and a shimmer coat to die for!
The color descriptions from OPI:
Play the Peonies: We’d put our money on this lovely soft-pink.
Come to Poppy: Surrender to shine with this shimmering coral-pink.
Be a Dahlia Won’t You?: Give the gift of fabulous fuchsia—to yourself!
I Lily Love You: Fall head over heels with this light pink sparkle.
You can't tell from this picture, but Suzi says this about I Lilly Love You, "I Lily Love You is a glitter coat that can be layered over any of the other three shades to add a bright sparkle; or, it can be worn on its own for a subtle tint of pink with strands of glitter.”
Nice Stems! will be available in June
