Recently I was in town and wanted to reapply lip gloss before getting out of the car. I reached over to my purse and starting digging around for the lip gloss I'd put in there right before leaving home (the Buxom one). But, as I started digging it became apparent that my purse was basically filled with lip glosses. It was insane, I was continually pulling out lip glosses. It might be possible that I have a little bit of a lippie addiction.
What was in there (left to right):

That's a whopping 12 products for 2 lips. Wow.
Some of these glosses I bought, some were samples I'm sure.
I totally feel your pain, lol. I may have even more than that....hides head in shame.
ReplyDeleteif it makes you feel any better, I have the same issue. I have taken 3-4 lipsticks or glosses to go out for one night in a small evening bag. yes it is a problem :)

ReplyDeleteLast time I cleaned out my purse, I counted 30 (no, that's not a typo) lip products.
ReplyDeleteI managed to strip that down to 8, but I think I've built it back up to at least 12 or 13 again.
Hahaha... you aren't alone. Decided to take up your "challenge" and see what's in my purse. It's an average day, although I know I sometimes have more.

1 lip moisturizer
2 tinted lip balms
4 glosses
1 lip glaze
1 olay regenerist lip balm
+ 1 emergency lip stain in side pocket of purse just in case make-up kit does not make it into purse.
Let's not even get into the mini-manicure I could pull off from my purse. You are in good company!
I have the same problem as you. After reading your post I decided to take a look in my purse and I found 3 lipsticks, 5 lip glosses, and 4 lip balms. I think you and I need to be in the same rehab.
ReplyDeleteI might have the same problem as you! Currently I think I only have two lip glosses in my purse, and about three lip balms, but I have lip glosses and Chapstick in every room of my house. Currently my desk has five lip products on it!

this is exactly what my purse looks like by Friday every week. I start with one or two, but add more each day until OMG LIPPIE-POCOLYPSE. :P
ReplyDeleteI realized later too that I had forgotten about my "emergency" pale pink MAC lip glass that is hidden in a pocket and I had pulled 2 lippies out even before I took this picture... so crazy! I'm happy that I'm not the only one with this problem though!

I really have no idea how I got followers. I've had my blog for about 4 years and I've just concentrated on writing about things that interest me and being a little different from other bloggers. I'm the only beauty blogging MD that I know, so I take that perspective quite often. People found my blog from there.
As for the products, suddenly PR reps started emailing me about 6 months in and now I literally get so many offers for products that I only say yes to about 5-10% off them, only the ones that interest me or I think my readers will want to know about. Not even all of those get featured. I just don't have room in my house for more stuff.
So, I guess my answer is concentrate on writing what you like, try to have a little bit of a niche to set yourself apart and both will find you.
I used to have a page with advice for new bloggers, I should rewrite it and post it again since people ask so often.
You mean we are not supposed to carry that many lip glosses in our purses?
ReplyDeleteI have the same problem... I'm trying to reduce the bulk of lip products by carrying a lipstick palette but I keep finding lip stuff everywhere: car, office drawer, coat pocket, bags I haven't used in a while ;)
