Makeup Thursdays
Thursday, September 01, 2011So, I'm not really sure what to say about my makeup posts, since things are just so varied. I like to post about products I've found and love, even if I haven't bought them yet. If I have a product I think swatch pics are really helpful. Taking swatch pics can actually be very time consuming, I'll often take 100+ pics to get a good representation of a shade. I'm currently practicing my makeup pics (I have a new lens for my dSLR coming to help), so hopefully I'll be posting more images of eye looks and I'm planning a big lipstick series soon. I'm not really a makeup tutorial girl.
Let me know if there's something in particular you'd like me to cover!

What I love most about your reviews, is the detail you go into for the product review. Like for all the series you've done (sunscreen, concealers, manicure) you give far more detail than another other beauty blogger. There are plenty of sites that only focus on swatches, and I don't miss it if you don't have any.
ReplyDeleteNot makeup related but I was curious if you've tried the new Cetaphil body wash?
A Cetaphil body wash?? I didn't know it was out! I'll pick it up soon to review, thanks!
ReplyDeleteI like swatch pics, but I feel like that's just kind of... not very creative? So, I want to include more types of makeup posts, but I'm not really into those crazy eye look tutorials. I think in person makeup like that looks a bit crazy. It really does. (I've heard that in real life even Christine from Temptalia doesn't do it, she's more of a natural look girl. But, I have to give her props, she definitely can break out the very intricate and detailed eye look!)
Also, about the super detailed posts: I sometimes feel like I over do it, my posts on average are way longer than most beauty bloggers. But I try to approach them like the reviews on other sites that I find helpful. If I'm going to buy something on Amazon or even just the Gap, I read the reviews for the detailed reviews. A person that mentions if the arm holes were a bit too big for them on a shirt... that little detail really helps me. When I read some other beauty blogs I sometimes wonder if the blogger even used a product, I can't always figure it out. I've seen the press releases that come with those products, sometimes all of the info is found there. It drives me crazy. So, I just include every detail of my experience with a product that I can, hoping that a little detail will help someone else. :D
The detail is definitely helpful! I think you have the best makeup reviews, hands down!
ReplyDeleteThanks so much Lindsey! :D I love knowing that people find my site helpful!
