My Favorite Waterproof Makeup for Summer

Product Sent for Review I bought it myself

The Best Water Resistant Cosmetics

It's almost beach and pool time again around my parts, which means that it's time to find some waterproof alternatives. Yes, I could go without makeup when planning to get wet. But.... sometimes a girl wants to look decent around the neighbors when she's running through the sprinklers with her toddler. And obviously... weddings. I definitely need good waterproof mascara for a wedding!

I wasn't able to pick just one favorite waterproof product, so I thought that I would share all of the ones I've had success with over the last year or two.

Most Effective Water Proof Makeup

Anastasia Lash Genius: This stuff really is genius. It lets you waterproof any mascara. And it really works.

CoverGirl LashBlast Fusion Waterproof: In case you want a more traditional waterproof mascara, the CoverGirl ones are my favorite. They're all great really, but my fave is the Fusion which gives both length and volume.

Stay All Day Waterproof Liquid Eye Liner: I still don't have a full post about this liner (though I mention it more in that Best of Stila post I just linked). I've probably repurchased it about 5 times.

Smashbox Limitless Waterproof Liner: There are other waterproof eye liner pencils out there, but this is the one that seems to be the most waterproof when I test them out. I also like that it has a sharpener in the cap, which is great for travel! I also like the pencil liners from Make Up For Ever, which can smudge slightly if you wear them swimming. The MUFE ones do apply more easily and come in a variety of colors. I'd probably use MUFE for a wedding, but go Smashbox for water submersion.

Lancome Effacernes Waterproof Protective Undereye Concealer: Kind of amazing, but there is a waterproof concealer. It holds up quite well unless you're swimming, in which case it does ok until you start rubbing. It's not great, but this is my favorite I need to look awake waterproofer for a wedding.

Julia's Lip Tint: Obviously the most waterproof lippie is a lip tint, and right now I'm obsessing over the Julia's Lip Tint. I just got the Hot Chick Pink and it is amazing! I also like the L'Oreal Colour Caresse Wet Shine Stain, though that is a little less buildable.

Make Up For Ever Aqua Shadow: I'm a fan of shadow pencils for saving time, and this is a great one. The color is vivid, it lasts all day and is definitely waterproof.

What have I missed? Let me know what your favorite waterproof makeup products are!

  6. I don't get info on Anastasia any more (I hate PR changes), so haven't heard of this product, but definitely have to check it out!

  7. With as much MUFE as I own I'm shocked I don't have any shadow crayons - you've opened my eyes (and probably my wallet too). The Julia lip tints are fabulous sounding.

  8. Hi! I was wondering if you could show us how you use the Anastasia Lash Genius to waterproof any mascara. And if it true that waterproof mascaras are a pain to remove? Thanks!
P.S: Love your blog and this article! :)

You can read more about the Lash Genius here:

Basically just apply it like a regular mascara over everything else. It works soooo well!
