Once again, another Nordstrom Anniversary Sale post. Are you getting tired of these yet? I'm a bit obsessed with the sale as you can probably tell, I live in anticipation of the beauty exclusives! When deciding what to put in my cart of the first day of the presale, I immediately went for the MAC palettes, the Style Maven and Sophisticate. However, I had my eye on a few other palettes (like this Chanel palette, and the Laura Mercier palette, which I think is a repromote but I missed the first time around. Oh, and this huge option from Smashbox), but it was the Bobbi Brown Secret to Standout Eyes Set that finally made it into my cart through the checkout process.
You can't tell from the blog because I have a lot of products here waiting to review, but I've been on a bit of a Bobbi Brown kick lately. I've bought her Shimmering Sands Eye Palette, Telluride Eye Palette, a trio of the Long-Wear Cream Shadow Sticks, and the CC Cream. (I'm still figuring them out, hopefully there will be some review soon!)
So, even though the Bobbi Brown Secret to Standout Eyes Set looked amazing, I wasn't sure if I was doing too much Bobbi Brown? Ultimately, the set looked too good to pass up. I'm so glad I bought it! This is easily the best palette of the sale. This is going to be a staple for me, and it should be for you too!
I love that this is a set, with an included eye shadow (only) palette. That's what I prefer for my "everyday" life, a palette that I can use without worrying about getting shadow powder all over the lippie.
Included in the set is a full size pot of the Long-Wear Gel Eyeliner in Black Ink and a Mini Ultra Fine Eyeliner Brush to use with it. I already own the full size of this brush, and it is the one I always reach for when using pots of gel eyeliner. It gets the eyeliner down into the lash line well and leaves an even line, and then can be easily washed off. I've already put this mini version (which comes with a top) in my box of travel beauty items.
You also get a full size of the Smokey Eye Mascara, which is one of my favorites. It offers length and volume, but it is basically impossible to get this mascara to look clumpy.
But, obviously the real star of this set is the palette. It has a lot of great neutrals, and a few neutral shimmers thrown in for fun.
1. Cream (creamy beige): I swear it's there. It's just the same color as my skin.

4. Champagne Quartz Metallic (champagne pink)

9. Chocolate Bronze Sparkle (chocolate sparkle)
10. Moonstar Sparkle (warm pale silver)
11. Stonewash Shimmer Wash (silver mauve)
12. Rich Navy (deep royal blue)
So far I've only used this set for very neutral daytime looks, but there's great potential for more drama. What do you think?
