Jergens Wet Skin Moisturizer Review

Have you seen this lotion yet? It's an in shower lotion, and it will completely shake up your post shower hydrating routine. Really, it will!

When you shower, the outer layers of your skin absorb water and plump up. Most dermatologists recommend applying moisturizer within 3 minutes of your shower to take advantage of this, you can seal in that extra water, really making your skin hydrated! But, if you wait too long, that water will evaporate. And it can take more water with it. Leaving your skin drier than before your shower, not good!

So, since time is essential when it comes to sealing in the extra moisture, shouldn't it make sense that you could really hydrate your skin by moisturizing while your skin is wet? Yes. Yes it does!

So, that's what this moisturizer does. I have to admit, I've had this moisturizer for a decent part of the summer, and it took a while to get used to using it. I typically dry off in my shower, and then immediately apply lotion while still in the shower. I've found if I leave the lotion in the shower with me, it warms up in the water (love that in the winter) and I have no excuse for not applying or waiting too long! I usually use either Cetaphil lotion or H2O+ Grapefruit Bergamot Moisturizing Body Balm when I want to pamper myself a bit. When I get out of the shower I then throw on a robe and go about drying my hair and such while the lotion sinks in to my skin. This routine works and doesn't really take more than a minute or so to slather on the lotion.

To use the Jergens Wet Skin Moisturizer, it does take me longer. After shutting off the shower, I run my hands over my body quickly to push most of the water off my skin. Then I apply the moisturizer to my wet skin, I use a little more than a quarter size amount on each leg and about the same amount of my arms and torso. I do rub it around a bit, and it seems to sink in or melt or something, I don't really know how to describe it! I can no longer see the lotion on my skin. Then I grab my towel and lightly pat myself mostly dry. Then I put on my robe and go dry my hair.

The Jergens routine does take me longer than my usual moisturizer, though I guess they include the "sinking in" time to get you at 1/2 the time of regular moisturizer? This isn't something that matters for me, because I don't immediately get dressed after my shower. Despite not fully drying myself, it only takes a minute or two for my skin to finish air drying, and then there isn't anything left to sink into my skin with the Wet Skin Moisturizer.

With the Wet Skin Moisturizer, my skin is just soft and moisturized. And it stays that way for at least a day. Right now it is perfect for the summer, it's been really hot and I love not having to reapply any lotion that could feel heavy on my skin.

I'm not sure that I will continue using it into the colder months, my master bathroom can be pretty cold in the winter and standing in the shower to apply this product (and then not really drying off afterwards) doesn't sound appealing. But, if I'm super dry it might be nice to do this under a more traditional moisturizer? I'll probably experiment with layering it in the winter!

So, yes, I do like it. It definitely makes my skin feel soft and it lasts a long time. For me, it's an extra minute or two after my shower, but I've been using it more and more recently with the hot weather.

  1. Does this make the shower slippery? If not then I need this!
We have had a pretty mild summer here in Texas so far, but now hitting a major heatwave. The idea of this product, sounds like an easy way foe moisturizing.
