While I would love to have unlimited amounts of time each day to get ready, that just is not possible! Especially on days that I'll be with my daughters. At 4 years and 9 months old, they aren't understanding of mom's yearning for a few more minutes of "mommy time" in the morning! So, many weekend mornings I have to make the most of my 5 minutes.

I thought I would create a quick tutorial of one of my go-to 5 minute looks. This look actually takes me a little less than 5 minutes, and everything you need to recreate it yourself can be found at your local Sally Beauty!

Step 1: Correct Imperfections

I start with freshly washed and lightly moisturized skin. Since I have quite a bit of redness in my skin, I love to use a redness corrector as my first step. The green tone of this mint concealer is opposite of red on a color wheel, so they will cancel each other out. I apply the concealer directly to the areas of redness (you can see where on the left side of the picture above), and then gently blend it with a fingertip.

Next, I use concealer on areas that need coverage. I love the Femme Couture concealer because it is well pigmented but blends really, really easily! I place it in a triangle under my eye area and blend it out a bit to highlight the center of my face as well as cover up my circles. I even apply it directly to my lids to cover up visible blood vessels and prep my lids for shadow.

While I blended both my corrector and concealer lightly with a fingertip, I recommend using a blending sponge to get a perfect finish! I use the Face Secrets Blending Sponge, dampened slightly with water, and pounce it all over my face to leave behind a perfect, natural finish.




Step 2: Even Out Skin Tone and Set Makeup

Once I've concealed my major skin imperfections, I like to even out my skin tone a bit. Using a powder foundation allow me to also set my concealer in place, ensuring that it stays put all day long! I like to apply with a powder brush for a lighter, more natural application. I buff the powder in circles for a more natural finish.




Step 3: A Light Wash of Eyeshadow

I love the natural, mauve tones of this eye shadow quad! It works great to create a simple shadow look or to go much more in depth. When I'm short on time, the lower left shade in the quad is one of my favorites for a simple shadow wash. Using the larger end of the Face Secrets Duo Shadow Brush, I sweep this shade from my lash line up to the brow bone, but not on the brow bone itself. At the crease, I use the smaller end of the shadow brush to concentrate more of the same color in the crease, adding dimension to my lid.




Step 4: Emphasize Your Eyes With Liner

I love the added definition of eye liner, but I've found that it looks best on me when the look is imprecise and a bit smudged! I like the Palladio Retractable liner because it is a bit softer than other liners, making it easy to smudge into my lash line. I draw the liner right onto the base of my lashes, basically ignoring that my lashes are there. I move the lashes all over the place as I draw the liner, so I know that the liner is in between the lashes and right at their base. This gives me a thicker lash line look without taking a lot of time!

Next I use a smudge brush and run it over the liner, smudging it out a bit. I sometimes will dip the smudge brush into the darkest color of my shadow before smudging the liner as well.




Step 5: Lashes for Miles

What eye looks would be complete without mascara? A quick curl of the lashes, and then I apply 2 coats of the Lash Obsessed Mascara. It separates my lashes and keeps the curl all day long! I love the look of my lashes with this mascara, which doesn't seem to ever clump.




Step 6: Finishing Touches

Finally, I can finish the look! A light sweep of a peachy-pink blush onto the apples of my cheeks and towards my hairline adds much needed color. For my lips, I like to layer a "natural" tone and a little bit of a pink gloss for a much richer, more flattering nude lip color.
