Holiday Party Beauty Helpers: My Favorite Products To Get The Look
IMAXtree

Today for Makeup Wars we're sharing our favorite holiday party helpers. I thought that rather than sharing a look, I'd share different products of all price points that I've found to be helpful for getting my hair to have extra volume, giving my skin a little extra glow or the primer for perfect shadow all night long!

Holiday Party Beauty Helpers: My Favorite Products To Get The Look

Luxe

1. Oribe Supershine Moisturizing Cream
I recently switched salons, and my new salon carries Oribe and Kerastase! Those are my 2 favorite hair care splurge lines. So having the pros there to tell me to buy some more? That could be good (they tell me which are best for my hair) or bad (it makes me buy all the products). This was the first rec from my new stylist! It's a leave in treatment for dry hair that helps with blow drying, and even adds a little shimmery glow that just catches the light but isn't obnoxious. If your hair is very fine there's even a "light" version, Oribe Supershine Light.

2. RMS Beauty Living Luminizer
This highlighter is creamy and seems to work for pretty much every skin tone. And apparently it's the secret to Gisele's glow, she always wears it. I apply with my fingertips, a little tap to the inner corner of my eye, on the cheekbone, down the center of my nose and on the bow of my lip. If I'm really feeling it, I'll sometimes add a little to the center of my forehead and chin. The little jar seems to last forever, I use it at least 3-4 times a week and my jar, which is over a year old, isn't even half gone.

3. Chanel Rouge Allure Colour & Shine Lip Gloss in Supreme
Yes, this is a very expensive lip gloss. But, it is super pigmented, applies like a dream, and it is the perfect dark fuchsia shade for my difficult skin tone. I love the tube as well, it's a very heavy metal that pops open and closed.

Splurge

4. Redken Full Frame 07
This is my favorite overall volumizing mousse! I've been experimenting with every volumizing mousse I can get my hands on, and for pretty much every price point this is the winner. I just bought the Oribe though. We'll see if it can beat the Redken!

5. Redken Quick Tease 15
I like extra volume at my roots but really hate to tease my hair. So, I've tried almost every root volumizing product out there (similar to my hunt for the volumizing mousse) that can stand up to the weight of my hair. This one is almost perfect. I spray some on my roots on dry hair, and then it needs to dry. So, I put my hair up in giant velcro rollers and do my makeup. It definitely adds some great volume at the roots, but if I brush it out much then it will only last about 6-8 hours. Which is actually perfect for a night out.

6. Redken Guts 10
A volumizing foam that is great for also adding a bit of volume at the roots. When I want something that will help all day long, this is my go-to. You can read my Redken Guts 10 review.

7. Too Faced Better Than Sex Mascara
One of my favorite volumizing mascaras, the brush grabs every last little lash.

8. NARS Audacious Mascara
This is my current favorite mascara for layering over other mascaras. The brush has some longer bristles that are spaced further apart, which is just what you need when you're applying over a 2nd mascara. You can see how I layer two mascaras for longer and fuller lashes and how I pick mascaras to layer for more info.

Steal

9. L'Oreal Infallible Silkissime Eye Liner
Because sometimes a girl really wants a gold or silver liner, and these are my favorites. (Read my Infallible Silkissime Eye Liner review)

10. L'Oreal True Match Lumi Liquid Glow Illuminator
Another illuminator? Yes. I showcased all of the shades of this versatile highlighter in my Lumi Liquid Glow Illuminator review, but since I wrote that I actually gave the 2 darker shades to a friend (they worked better for her skin tone than mine), and have subsequently had multiple discussions about how amazing it is! She adds a few drops to her foundation to make it more luminous. I use it as a highlighter on specific areas of my face. And you could also add some to body lotion for an all over glow, perfect for going out!

11. e.l.f. Glitter Primer
One of my picks for the best products from ELF, this primer is a steal at $2! I buy it in huge quantities each time I order from ELF. It keeps shadow looking absolutely perfect all day and all night, even glittery shadows that are prone to fallout.

  1. I bought the RMS for a secret holiday gift but not for myself. That will change. I love your categories on here.
