You may have seen my recent post over on Instagram, with my excitement over ULTA's The Glowing Skin Event! For me, this is perfect timing. I seem to make a skincare related resolution. Washing my face every night, adding serums to my skin care routine, masking weekly... I've made (and broken) every single one of those resolutions!
I'm actually doing pretty well with most of those things now (well, maybe I only mask every 2 weeks), but I am making a new skin care resolution/change in 2016. I'm going to pay more attention to "other" skin care, things that aren't my main treatment products of moisturizers, serums and eye creams. Meaning, I'll be making sure that my facial cleansers have added benefits besides clean skin. I'm going to be better about using a nice scrub on my body and more diligent about applying my moisturizer to my body (I admit I pretty much only apply it to my legs straight out of the shower). I think that paying a bit more attention to these small details will have great results in 2016!
ULTA's Glowing Skin Event is going on all month.
Special Features of this Event:
• ULTA is introducing one of my favorite skincare line, First Aid Beauty (see all my First Aid Beauty Skincare reviews) to their stores!
• Get a free skincare consultation! Every Thursday (4-6 PM) one-on-one skin care consultations are available from a licensed skin therapist in the stores
• Dermalogica Skin Treatments are 30% off (from 1/3-1/30)
And obviously, there are some amazing deals. You can see the schedule above, each of those days the featured product is 50% off, so this is the perfect time to splurge on a product or stock up on old favorites. I've tried quite a few of these items in the past, and some I'll be reviewing in the next few weeks (a few days before they go on sale so you have time to purchase). The circled items are ones that I'll be reviewing in advance here on the blog, but I've featured many of the others! StriVectin SD Advanced (see my review of StriVectin SD Advanced) is one of my favorite anti-aging treatments to recommend. Bliss Body Butter has long been one of my "splurge" intense moisturizers. Juice Beauty's Stem Cellular Cream is a great night cream, and I've used both Dermalogica's Double Cleanse routine and Murad's Environmental Shield Essential-C Cleanser with great results!
DermaDoctor KP Duty Review
This skincare duo is one that I've used myself, and recommend to friends and family, but somehow it has never made it to the blog beyond a few mentions! These products are cult favorites for a reason. If you want softer skin or are struggling with Keratosis Pilaris (those red bumps on upper arms), then you need this duo!
DermaDoctor's KP Duty products both have Glycolic Acid, an Alpha-Hydroxy Acid, to help increase cell turnover for softer skin with more even tone and texture. They'll do a great job of giving you softer skin over time without causing irritation.
Here's a closer look at the scrub. The scrub feels pretty gritty, there are larger and sharper pieces of grit in it than you would want to use on your face, but they feel really great on the body! I only need a small amount of the scrub. Gently rub the scrub around in circles on your skin. The goal isn't red and irritated skin, instead you want smooth and fresh skin. The scrub feels a bit like lotion otherwise, it has very little smell and isn't sticky or oily. It rinses off easily with just a little water. While there isn't a residue, once I've patted dry my skin does feel softer and like I've just moisturized.
The lotion is a bit thicker than other lotions. I recommend only a small amount once or twice a day, you don't need to be reapplying a glycolic lotion every time you wash your hands! I've been using it on my elbows and hands for a few weeks now, and my skin is much softer. I've also noticed that my hands look more evenly colored (which makes me feel old if I am noticing that!) The lotion doesn't have much smell either, and it isn't greasy at all. It sinks into my skin quickly and just leaves it soft.
I love to recommend this duo for those that suffer from Keratosis Pilaris (red bumps on their upper arms). I don't have KP, but I love this duo for areas that are often a bit rougher, such as my elbows, and even just spots I want extra soft like my legs.
