I am a complete and total sucker for holiday palettes. If you look in my vanity drawer at home, you'll find a huge selection of holiday palettes, and this year already seems to have even better palettes than in the past! I've already splurged on the Tarte palettes from their site and Sephora, and I'm trying really hard to not buy the one from ULTA as well, but... we'll see!
Of the palettes I've bought so far, this one is the one I've been reaching for most often. Read on to learn more about it and see swatches of each of the shadows!
The packaging for this palette is really pretty! I love the outside, it's a cloth and very vibrant. The sides are gold and very shiny. It is very well put together and feels high quality. The only thing I'm not a fan of is the actual size of this palette. It's about 2 1/2 inches deep, and feels very large. I'm tempted to take a sharp object to it, and physically remove the shadows I'm using and put them in a much smaller magnetic palette.
Off to the right is a big open area (which can be closed with a plastic lid) with 3 products:
• Rainforest of the Sea So Fine Micro Liner in Black
• Tarteist glossy lip paint in Ovbi (warm nude)
• Tartiest lash paint mascara in Black
They're in a little plastic packaging tray in the picture here, but that can be easily removed so there's a big open area to store a lot of products.
So far, these products are working out very well for me! I think that the liner is very well pigmented, and I love how skinny the point is. It is very easy to get a thin line of liner right at the lash line. The lip gloss has some pigmentation, but allows my lips to show through. It isn't sticky, but I do need to reapply every 2-3 hours. The mascara does a good job of adding length to my lashes, but not enough volume for my taste (I'm very into lots of volume). I've been layering it over other mascaras and it works great to help separate my lashes and doesn't smudge or flake.
Also included in the palette are:
• 24 limited edition shadows
• Blush
• Highlighter
• 2 Bronzers
There are 24 different shadows, and overall I did think they were well pigmented. I have swatched them over primer here, and I have no issues getting good pigmentation on my lids. They last all day on me, and I had no issues with fading, creasing or fall out. In the palette they are a bit powdery, but not any more than other shadows. Overall, I'm pretty impressed and thinking I need to use more Tarte products because of this palette!
Note that the reviews on Sephora are very mixed. There are some that said they don't like the pigmentation level of these shadows at all, and the shadows faded quickly. I honestly wonder if there was a batch issue? My own experience with this palette was very different than those comments.
The face side of the palette has:
• Amazonian Clay Blush in Moment (coral)
• Amazonian Clay Highlighter in Authentic (champagne)
• Amazonian Clay Bronzer in Unique (shimmer), Provacative (matte contour)
I've been using all of these products, though I admit I use Provacative a lot more than Unique, as it is a lighter color bronzer and works better for my pale skin. They're all well pigmented and seem to be the same as my normal Tarte products that I purchased as singles.
If you're going to buy 1 palette for the holiday season, this one is my favorite! I'll share a few other palettes in the next week or so!
You can buy this palette only at Sephora
