New Feature: Lippie Love

Fall is all about lipstick. It really feels like this year more than ever, dark lips are everywhere. Red, plum, berry... you name it, it is out there on lips. I'm usually a lip gloss girl, but I'm really feeling more color on my lips this season.

I have to admit, I initially planned to do this as a daily feature for a month. But, my new camera lens was late, I'm not sure I want a lipstick every day, and I have more colors to feature than an entire month! So, I'll be featuring a great lip color nearly every day for quite a while. It might be a lipstick, it might be a gloss...

You get the idea.

Currently Obsessing Over: Estée Lauder Pure Color Posh Petal Palette

Estée Lauder Pure Color Posh Petal Palette, review, swatch
Recently Estée Lauder released a collection of Pure Color Eye Shadows created by Tom Pecheux, Creative Makeup Director for Estée Lauder. The palettes really made their debut at the Fall 2010 Derek Lam show, but I believe the addition of the duos was new in August. As well, 56 additional shades were introduced. Regardless, they sent out a few samples and I fell hard for the 5 shadow palette that they sent me.

The shadows in these palettes are amazing. There are 5 different finishes: matte, satin, shimmer, metallic and frost. Your eye will not scream "Look at me! I'm wearing a frost!" This isn't that ugly 70's frost we all think of when we hear frost. Instead, the finishes are all subtle differences in texture. Perfect to mix and match for different day and night looks.

The shadows are now available in duos, which are really easy for a simple look. I personally prefer the 5 shadow palettes, which are great for slightly mixing things up.

"These palettes are my babies. They create so many looks for women from daytime to a naughty nighttime date and give you the option to play with your look.
-Tom Pecheux

Makeup Thursdays

So, I'm not really sure what to say about my makeup posts, since things are just so varied. I like to post about products I've found and love, even if I haven't bought them yet. If I have a product I think swatch pics are really helpful. Taking swatch pics can actually be very time consuming, I'll often take 100+ pics to get a good representation of a shade. I'm currently practicing my makeup pics (I have a new lens for my dSLR coming to help), so hopefully I'll be posting more images of eye looks and I'm planning a big lipstick series soon. I'm not really a makeup tutorial girl.

Let me know if there's something in particular you'd like me to cover!

Affordable Air Brushed Foundation? Aero Minerale Might Be Just The Thing...

Aero Minerale Foundation
I fully admit that a perfect air brushed look appeals to me. However I don't have a few hundred laying around to dump on a Temptu, and the more expensive spray on foundations don't come light enough for my skin (I'm looking at you, Dior). And let's face it, $62 is still a lot more than I want to spend on a foundation.

Anyways, Classified Cosmetics makes a line of aerosol makeup, which I've heard pretty good things about. They've just released a lower priced version, Aero Minerale. Aero Minerale will be available on their website, at 52 Walmarts across the country (mine is not one of them unfortunately) and on Walmart.com. Which means you won't need to take out a second mortgage to afford air brushed makeup!

Read on to see if it works.

Changes and New Features

Yup, things have been a bit quiet around here lately. I promise that I'm not ignoring the blog, rather I'm doing a lot of behind the scenes stuff with my limited blogging time.

1) So, there's been a big reorganization in my office, which I'm still not done with. I had products everywhere and things that needed to be tested or have already been tested were all jumbled. It was confusing. Things are better now, though I'm not done.

2) During my reorganization, I realized that I've really been putting off writing about a lot on skin care products. Which has always been my favorite category. The issue is that these products just take more time to write about, which is hard when I'm spending a lot of time with my little one. (Total aside- she isn't so little! She's just hit 7 months and is so tall I just ordered her the next step up in car seats. I can't believe it!)

So, to help remedy the ignoring of entire areas of beauty products, I've decided to start a little schedule. You'll see it off to the right side of the page, and while those images won't take you anywhere now you'll find that eventually you'll get to all Monday posts, etc.

This coming week I'll address each day's topic in a little post and ask for feedback about how I cover certain items. As well, I'll likely be posting mostly once a day (in the past I've posted as much as 2-3 times a day), but on days that I do post more than once the "bonus" post will never be of the same category as the main post. As well, there are definitely some categories that aren't in the days of the week above. Like nails. I love me some nail polish. I'll be posting mani pics a few days a week, just kind of randomly.

3) I couldn't resist and revamped the graphics a little for fall. See, the girl is now wearing a trench! And a berry colored lippie!
