Simply Vera Makeup Line Review: A New Choice at Kohl's

Simply Vera Makeup Line Review

Vera Wang is mostly known for her super pricy line of wedding gowns (which, trust me, are well worth their price). Some people know about her lower priced line, available exclusively at Kohl's. The line includes shoes, women's clothing, even home items. But, it recently expanded to include beauty items. The line is produced by Beauty Bank, a division of Estée Lauder (they're also behind the Flirt line at Kohl's). This isn't really a lower priced Estée Lauder line, think of it as just another Estée Lauder line. The quality seemed to be the same to me, and the prices are pretty equivalent.

I was able to try out a pretty wide array of products from this line including a tinted moisturizer, lip line primer, eye shadows and lipsticks. Read on to see what I thought.

Simply Vera Wang tinted moisturizer review

Simply Vera Wang tinted moisturizer reviewI tried out the lightest color of tinted moisturizer, and at a NC20 this was a perfect match for me. If you're lighter than I am it will probably be a little bit dark for you. The coverage provided was a light-medium, not quite light, not quite medium... I still had to add in some concealer and the coverage seemed to fade over about a 6-8 hour period. It was pretty much gone at the 8 hour mark.

The moisturizer sinks in to my skin immediately and provides just enough moisture for my combination skin. Note that there is no UV coverage in this product.

Simply Vera Wang Smoothing Lip Primer Review

Simply Vera Wang Smoothing Lip Primer ReviewThe Smoothing Lip Primer isn't really a primer for your lips. Instead, this is meant to go around your lips to help prevent your lippie from bleeding. While using a regular lip liner can do this, it doesn't always work. Especially if you're getting a tad older or have ever been a smoker. (Lip puckering = bad. I have never smoked, but I've seen this on people and it simply isn't pretty.)

Anyways, this comes in a little tube with a very small opening, and you only need a very small amount. It's a white and slightly waxy feeling lotion, you simply take a very small amount and rub it on your skin around your lips. I don't have a big problem with feathering, though it does happen sometimes with dark red lips. (I guess I talk and drink too much?) I tried this out and the primer seemed to really live up to it's name! It kept my lippie from feathering and you couldn't tell that it was there. I'll be recommending this to a lot of people, this is a question I'm asked about pretty often!

Simply Vera Wang Eye Shadow Review Swatch

The eye shadows come in a very nice black case, it feels very sturdy. I love that there's a full mirror in the top as well. The shadows themselves are nicely pigmented, blend well and last all day without any issues. I thought that the duos I tried out were really very pretty combinations. I haven't used them on a day that is sunny enough for pictures yet, but hopefully that will happen soon and I'll post a few pictures!

Simply Vera Wang Pressed Powder Review

Simply Vera Wang Pressed Powder Review
Obviously I haven't really used the Pressed Powder as powder, it's so far off from my own skin tone. However, it is actually pretty perfect as a bronzer! It isn't too orange or brown, but is that perfect in between color. The powder is very finely milled and when I was playing around with it I noticed that it is easy to get almost medium coverage with the powder alone. When used as a bronzer it gives me a very pretty natural glow.

Simply Vera Wang Lipstick Review and Swatch

I think I was happiest with the lipsticks. I wasn't sure about either 710 or 712 in the tube. They just looked... frosty. On my arm they looked super pretty, but they were a little bit different once applied. They both have a touch of translucency, which lends them to many skin tones. The frost doesn't really come across on the lip, it looks like a faint shimmer. I found that the lipsticks lasted for roughly 4 hours before needing to be reapplied.

  2. Oh, that 710 lipstick looks perfect on you. I have the same coloring so I think that I will get one too. It is so hard to find a nude lipstick shade that looks good.

  5. It's not very budget friendly. One of those eye shadow duos is $19.50. But I imagine it would be a good buy with all those coupons kohl's sends out.
