Nexxus Hydralight Review: Why, Yes, My Hair Is Healthy

Nexxus Hydralight Review

For a few weeks now I've been using the Nexxus Hydralight collection. The Shampoo, Conditioner, Leave-In Conditioning Foam and Root Lift Mist. And I have to admit that while I haven't used Nexxus since high school, and it feels pretty 1980's, I'm really impressed. I think I've found my new go-to products for in between product testings.

This collection is geared towards those that want to hydrate their hair, but don't want to weigh down their hair and flatten it out. This is perfect for me! While I need to hydrate and help my hair recover from the record cold temperatures we had all winter in Michigan, I still want to have volume. This spring I'm craving volume, and anything that helps me get volume is very good.

Shampoo and Conditioner
They seem like most other shampoo and conditioner duos, but when I tried using the two styling products without them, the results just weren't the same. You need to start off with this set. The shampoo is clear and makes a nice rich lather. It isn't one of those shampoos that makes your hair squeak (which is good, that squeaking means you've stripped your hair of all natural oils). Instead it just feels like it gets everything clean, then rinses out easily. The conditioner is white and feels pretty lightweight, but when you rinse it out everything feels very soft and smooth.

Both products have the same scent, and I swear they smell a bit like a fruity iced tea to me. It took me a few days to figure out what the scent was, but that is definitely the best way I can describe them. It is soft and subtle, but I can smell it in my hair throughout the day when my hair moves around.

Leave-In Conditioning Foam
I think this is my favorite of the four products. It comes in a non-aerosol pump, just shake the bottle first. I use three pumps, I distribute it throughout my wet hair and then comb through with a wide tooth comb. It has the same scent as the shampoo and conditioner and is very lightweight, once you put it in you won't be able to feel it in your hair at all.

The foam does a great job of taming any static and fly aways, it adds some shine and I think it makes my hair a bit easier to dry out straight, it seems to look like I've actually spent some time with my flat iron. In reality, I touch my flat iron about once every 2 months. I think this product is a new daily must use product for me!

Root Lift Mist
This is the final step in the Hydralight collection, adding a little extra volume if you want it, where you want it. This isn't a miracle volume in a spray bottle product. You can't spray a little of the Root Lift at your hair and have huge hair that looks like you stepped out of the 1980's.

Root Lift will add a bit of volume to your hair, but really it makes it just look like you have more hair. I swear! I spray a bit at the crown of my head and instead of looking like my hair is bigger there, it looks like I have more hair there.

So, why is Hydralight going to be a staple in my routine? My hair looked pretty amazing. I had strangers stopping me in the cafeteria at work to tell me that my hair was so healthy and shiny. Really, that happened twice. My long bob is smoother, shinier and I haven't touched my flat iron.

FYI, if you've tried Hydralight and write a review on Facebook or Twitter using the hashtag #WMHydraLight you could be featured on Walmart.com!

  4. No, Other than silicones, I'm pretty bad with hair product ingredients. Sorry!

  5. Have you ever tried Wen hair products? I was thinking about trying them, but after reading your review might try nexxus

  6. I've tried Wen, but can't get past the first week. My hair looks AWFUL during it, so tangled and difficult to manage. I've heard it gets better later, but I just can't wait for my hair to look decent again for another 3 weeks or so!
