All Day Fresh: Dealing With The Summer

All Day Fresh: Dealing With The Summer

Now that the high heat and humidity of the summer have hit, I'm all about feeling like a normal, fresh person all day long. My goal is to avoid a mid-summer version of me with a super shiny t-zone, hair that's deflated and raccoon eyes from my melted makeup. I don't want to spend hours getting ready each morning, but I've found that with a few added products I can achieve my goal! Even better, I stay fresh all day long without needing to refresh throughout the day.

Dry Shampoo: On hot summer days I spray a little all over my hair every day, even if I've just washed my hair. It add volume while soaking up oil and sweat to help my hair looking great all day long. No more flat mid-day hair!

Shadow Base: The secret behind keeping your eye makeup in place all day long is primer. There are a lot of great ones available at every price point. Just swipe one on before you apply your shadow and it will look freshly applied all day long. I wear primer year round, but it seems especially important in the summer.

Waterproof Your Liner and Mascara: I like to waterproof my mascara and eye liner. I've found that in high heat and humidity, my normal smudge-proof liners and mascara just won't stay put. Swapping out to waterproof products means that my makeup still looks great after a long day out in the sun.

Mattifying Primer: I have combination skin, and in the summer it can be hard to keep the shine to a minimum. Rather than applying powder all day long, I've found that applying a mattifying primer under my foundation or BB cream is a much better option. Primer is very lightweight and dries clear, so I can't even tell that I'm wearing it. Just a small amount is enough to keep my t-zone shine free without needing to reapply powder all day long.

Super Strength Antiperspirant: I've just started using a "clinical strength" antiperspirant a few weeks ago, and I'm impressed! The increase in active ingredients has been keeping me bone dry every day. I went back to my previous antiperspirant for a few days to compare and I felt a bit damp, though I know I wasn't really sweating. The great news is that these products are available over the counter, so you don't need a prescription!
