Glowy Enough? Laura Mercier Candleglow Luminizing Palette Review and Swatches

I'm a sucker for anything that makes me look glowy. I want to look like I'm lit from within. Especially on days that I got almost no sleep the night before and I don't look great (spoiler: I got about 4 hours of sleep the night before I took these pics. So don't harp on my undereye bags, they are much better looking in the pics than they were before I put on makeup!)

I've been really, really yearning for the Laura Mercier Candleglow Luminizing Palette since I first saw it a few months ago. I would visit it on the Sephora website on occasion. It moved in and out of my cart. It took me a long time to actually purchase in part because of the less than stellar reviews on their site.



This isn't a very big palette but they've squeezed quite a bit in there.

4 shadows:
• Glow: light yellow lavender with shimmer
• Spark: light pink with shimmer
• Light: light yellow
• Twinkle: gold

2 Highlighting powders:
• Radiance: light peach
• Glimmer: light bronze



Left to Right: Glow, Spark, Light, Twinkle, Radiance, Glimmer

Once they're swatched, you can see that it's basically impossible to tell Glow, Spark and Light apart unless you're really looking. Twinkle is definitely a bit more gold. Once on the eye they do catch the light but don't look sparkly, just glowy. It looks a bit odd to use them alone, so I combine them with other shadows. A light patting with a bigger fluff brush just to the center of my lid is very pretty, as is a more concentrated application to the inner corner of my eye. I did find that the shadows were very powdery, they make a mess on the palette. It doesn't seem to cause a problem once the shadow is applied, I don't really have any issues with fall out.

The 2 highlighting powders are pretty pigmented, I can use them as a lighter blush when I apply with a smaller blush brush. They're also great for all over your face when used with a bigger brush. These are also powdery, but somehow it doesn't matter as much as it does for the shadows. I think because the brushes are looser they make less mess, not as much powder gets all over the palette.




Here's a quick look wearing the palette! I have Spark all over my lid up to my brow bone, MAC Satin Taupe in my crease. I blended the Radiance and Glimmer highlighting powders together and lightly applied to my t-zone and forehead. I then used a smaller brush to blend the 2 together and apply to my cheeks as a blush.



The extra bit of glow did help me look a bit more awake, and I have been using the palette to add a little extra glow every now and then when I'm feeling less than stellar.
