Today for Makeup Wars we are sharing our favorite splurges and steals. I thought that rather than just showcasing a few items that are dupes, I would do something that a lot of readers have asked for via email lately, create a couple of complete makeup kits!
Here's a peek at how I would create these kits, I'm going for a fairly neutral look, but with a fun, bright pink lip. In real life, I use a combination of products from each of these price points. When applying, note that I apply products in the order that I've listed them here, and I usually require 2 color correctors (green for any redness, pink/peach for undereye circles), though I don't have a luxe version of the green. All of these products are ones that I have and use myself!

I'm dying to try the Covergirl palettes! They look gorgeoussss!
ReplyDeleteI would have never thought to group products like you did! Great idea!
ReplyDeleteAwesome post. Can I ask how you made those photo collages?
ReplyDeleteI love these type of posts! I really want to try the L'Oreal lip stains. I love the YSL gloss stains but I'm wondering how they both compare and if I could save some money by going the drugstore route.
ReplyDeleteA wonderful post! Which Urban Decay Afterglow blush do you use?
ReplyDeleteI'm partial to the "splurge" group ;) xx

I have tried nearly all the Splurge products and love them all. I am now gearing up to try the Luxury products. I enjoy trying luxurious products from time to time and like to determine if they were worth the splurge.
ReplyDeleteA great article.

@Anon I actually have all of the blushes, I use obsessed and score the most often.
ReplyDelete@Marleen I use photoshop :)
ReplyDelete@Rain I like both formulations. I've found that the YSL is definitely more pigmented and "staining", but I recommend both!
I was extremely disappointed with the covergirl nude roses. It lasted less than 2 hours with primer. I was home reading when I tested it and, later when I looked in the mirror, it literally looked as if I never had applied eyeshadow. I started to doubt my memory but the experience was repeated with various primers. This has never happened to me with any other eyeshadow.
ReplyDeleteI love reading these kinds of posts! I'd love to try the brow pencil and highlighter. Thanks for sharing.
