Have you seen the new Too Faced Pretty Rebel palette yet? It's absolutely perfect for this fall! I'm starting to really want everything gold (goooooold!), and this palette has an amazing one. And yes, that pink, I've heard, is actually not as scary as it looks. I'll do a look and share it, but for now I'm sharing pics to prove to you that you need this palette.

The Favorite Eye Shadow Combos of Makeup Artist Elizabeth Moore

Nothing to Disclose

The Favorite Eye Shadow Combos of Makeup Artist Elizabeth Moore

MAC Cosmetics is one of the most color savvy brands on the market, and their eye shadow collection showcases just this. A beautiful combination of shadows is Crystal Avalanche (for giving the inner corner of each eye a twinkle), Vanilla (to add soft, sheer color beneath the brow bone), All That Glitters (for a sparkling wash of champagne color across the entire eyelid), Deep Damson (to shade the outer corners of the eyes with a rich burgundy) and Cork (to give a warm, brown shade and add dimension to the creases of each eye).

A Makeup Artist Picks her favorite neutral MAC shades for any eye
I also frequently look to Brule (pale ivory), Omega (cool taupe), Wedge (mid-tone brown) and Embark (warm, rich brown), all from MAC, to create softly highlighted and contoured eyes that don't look "made up". With these shades, all matte and soft satin textures, you can create sculpted eyes that look like you were born with that bone structure!

best mufe eye shadow colors
If you're feeling extra funky, pickup an assortment of colors from the incomparable Make Up For Ever. Vibrant purples can transfer easily from summer to fall. Matte Flesh is a strong matte shade that can highlight the brow bone or be used to diffuse and blend other bolder colors together. Press Lilac (a satin shade) across the eyelid and under the lash line for a strong color statement. Finish the look by blending Dark Purple (another matte choice) softly through the entire crease of the eye to bring depth and additional color to your application.

The best NARS and Kevyn Aucoin Eye Shadow Palettes
NARS is another line that is easily accessible to both the everyday makeup wearer and professional artist. My current favorite from this line is a trio of eyeshadows called Ramatuelle. One pallette contains a stunning array of colors - one metallic silver, a soft peach and an additional warm apricot shade. The colors are perfect to shade and line the eyes without having to fuss over various containers.

For a natural look that still brings dimension to the face, I always turn to Kevyn Aucoin's Essential Eyeshadow Set in Palette #1. It comes with five shades ranging from a bright, eggshell to a deep true brown. The various fleshtones allow for fresh looks to compliment the day or deep, chic eyes for a night on the town. Don't be afraid to use a tone similar to your skin shade just beneath the cheek bones to contour the face as well! Think outside the box with your makeup choices. If you like the way it looks, it's right for you!

CoverGirl's Flamed Out Collection Review and a Color Eye Tutorial

Product Sent for Review Sponsored Post

CoverGirl Flamed Out Collection Review, Swatches and Tutorial
I've been having a lot of fun with eye shadows the last couple of days, courtesy of CoverGirl and ULTA. They asked me if they could send me some of this summer's Flamed Out collection (have you seen it? I admit I've been drooling over the displays in stores for a bit now), I would review the products and put together a look. They'd even send me extras for a giveaway! How can a girl say no to that???

Flamed out is this summer's collection from CoverGirl. The colors are pretty bold, and they are "inspired by fire, the bold new flaming femme look takes your eyes from flames to ashes." The colors include red, pink, gray, gold, blue and green. Some of the colors are pretty bold for me, but I've been inspired over and over by blue and green eye looks recently, so I've been dying to try some of the colors!

When my products arrived, I only had a few shades (and none of the bright blue/green ones I wanted to try out), so I pretty much ran to ULTA the moment I opened my package. It's a good thing that I have an understanding husband! CoverGirl is Buy One get one 50% Off (until Friday, June 28th) including the Flamed Out Collection, and I admit that I bought a lot of the colors! I don't have every color (yes, I did manage to use some control), but I have almost all of them.

I have a million and one pictures of the colors, a tutorial for the blue and green eye I created, and even a giveaway! Read on to see more!

Summer Beauty Challenge: Lorac Pro Palette Day to Night Eye Shadow Looks

Product Sent for Review

2 different eye shadow look tutorials using the lorac pro eye shadow palette, quick and easy!

So, remember recently when I shared with you what I would buy with $25 at ULTA? (Shopper Files) I wrote that post in preparation for this post. Oh yes, this is a long awaited post my friends!

The nice people over at Coupons.com gave some friends and I each $50 to spend at one of three on-line beauty stores. They were some of my favorite stores, ULTA, Sephora and Drugstore.com/Beauty.com. Our mission? Either create 2 looks or come up with some great dupes to share. Oh yes, and be sure to use one of the coupon codes, I used the ULTA Coupon Codes.

We had a lot of fun shopping, and you should have seen some of our Facebook messages showing what was in our carts! I fully admit that I went crazy and spent a lot of my own money over the $50. I got some great deals though at ULTA! I was so happy to finally pick up the LORAC Pro Palette (check out my Lorac PRO Palette Review & Swatches post). I also grabbed another L'Oreal Extra-Intense Liquid Pencil Eyeliner in black. I knew I'd be needing more black liner, and that's one that I haven't written about enough. I kind of love it.

Read on to see the 2 looks I created, find links to see what my friends did with their $50 and to enter a contest to win $300 to ULTA!

After So Long, It's Finally Mine! Lorac Pro Palette Review and Swatches

Lorac Pro Palette Review and Swatches
See that palette? That sooo lovely LORAC Pro Palette? With the pretty eye shadows? I've wanted to buy it since it was released. Which was a long time ago. But, I was a good girl and didn't buy it (I had a hard time justifying the cost when I own so much eye shadow already).

But, through a twist and turn of events, I had one sent to me by some nice people, that are not from LORAC. (It was the Coupons.com people. They sent me some moneys for ULTA to use with their ULTA coupon. They want me to post a few looks, that's coming up soon, but I had to share the pretty shadows first.)

See? Look at all of the pretty colors. Now you know why I have been pining after this palette!

Makeup Wars: Our Favorite Non-Powder Eye Shadows

Favorite Cream Eye Shadow: Mally Saddle Shimmer Swatch and Review
Today on Makeup Wars we've decided to showcase our favorite non-powder shadows. In the past, it seemed like if you wanted non-powder and a decent shadow, your only choice was pretty much a MAC Paint Pot... or.... well, nothing. There weren't really any cream shadows that were decently pigmented, easy to use and lasted for more than an hour or so. Suddenly, I swear they are everywhere. From the Clinique Chubby Eyes, to the drugstore Milani shadows and even the waterproof Make Up For Ever Aqua Shadows, it is really easy to find a great creamy shadow!

Today I've decided to show a product that I reach for pretty frequently, Mally Beauty's Saddle Shimmer. This Evercolor Stick comes in an automatic pen that is pretty thick with a rounded tip (and yes, it does look a bit phallic in that picture...) Since Mally sent it to me to play with, it has already been showcased in two Makeup Wars posts (travel beauty essentials and emerald eye look).

 photo mally-saddle-shimmer-swatch.jpg

What I like so much about this shadow is how easy it is to work with, but then how long it lasts and has the depth of a great powder shadow. I definitely prefer my cream shadows to be in a stick form (I keep buying ones in pots and they just sit there collecting dust), and I especially like when I don't have to sharpen them. Many other cream shadows that fall short in terms of pigmentation, but this one is very pigmented. You can see that even when it is patted with a finger to "blend" that it is still very pigmented. You have a few minutes to play with it, but afterwards it sets and you can't really move it.

Super fast eye makeup look with Mally Saddle Shimmer

This is how I usually wear the shadow (and I was a bit squinty, looking into my light set up for products, hence the strange crinkling under my inner eye...) This is a super fast eye look for the weekend, and I took these pics after wearing the shadow for about 10 hours of errands, toddler playing and work around the house. I think it's held up pretty well!

I've colored my entire lid up and into the crease with the Saddle Shimmer. I lightly patted it with my finger to blend the edges. I also very lightly lined my eyes with Stila Oscar Fish Smudge Stick and then a light layer of Fresh Supernova Mascara.

This look took about 2 minutes, I'm wearing tinted moisturizer and some lip balm. Everything is under 5 minutes- I promise!

Do you have any cream or stick eye shadows that you wear? Which have you had the best wear from?

Too Faced Natural Eye: One of My Go-To Eye Palettes for Work

Too Faced Natural Eye Palette Review
This week I'm continuing my Too Faced "week" (loosely used, it will be a few more days!) and today I'm showcasing one of my real "go-to" eye shadow palettes. On days that I don't really want to think about it, I will frequently grab this palette to create a pretty but neutral and professional look.

Too Faced Natural Eye Palette Swatch
The only issue I have with these shades is that Nude Beach is pretty... glittery? It's not really glitter, it's more like powder that's about the size of glitter but only a bit shimmery. Regardless, it has a lot of fallout, so I tend to use that color sparingly. I have noticed that it mixes well with Silk Teddy, so I'll often dip my brush into both pans and use them together.

Too Faced Natural Eye, How to Get the Look
When using this palette, I end up with this eye look about 90% of the time. Here I've used Silk Teddy all over my lid, up over my crease and into the contour area a little. I then applied Push Up in the crease and to about the point where the Silk Teddy ends in the contour, and in a little V almost over the outer 1/3 of the lid. I blend all of the shadows very lightly.

Here I've used a brown smudgy liner (this is Stila Oscar Fish), which I've pushed into the lash line and then smudged into the shadow. I finish by curling, curling and still curling my lashes and then applying mascara (more about how I apply mascara).

Too Faced Boudoir Eye Palette Review

Product Sent for Review Affiliate Links

 photo boudoir-eyes-review.jpg
Yesterday I shared the new Too Faced Summer Eyes Palette, but they had another recent addition to their amazing eye palette family, the Boudoir palette.

I know what you're thinking.... Wait... don't I already own that palette? Actually, I'm on my second one?? (Wait, I might be the only one that is wondering that last question. And yes, I'm on my second one.)
Boudoir and Naked Eye Palettes Comparison
So, yes, the Boudoir and Naked Eye Palettes by Too Faced are pretty similar. To the point that they have many of the same shades. I've put unique shades to each palette in italics below.

Boudoir Eye Palette
In the Buff, Fuzzy Handcuffs, Voulez-Vous
Satin Sheets, Sugar Walls, Garter Belt
Birthday Suit, Lap Dance, French Tickler

Naked Eye Palette
In the Buff, Pillow Talk, Like a Virgin
Birthday Suit, Satin Sheets, Unmentionables
Pink Cheeks, Lap Dance, Stilleto

Too Faced Eye Shadows In the Buff, Fuzzy Handcuffs Voulez-Vous, swatch

Too Faced Eye Shadows Satin Sheets, Sugar Walls, Garter Belt, Birthday Suit, Lap Dance, French Tickler swatch

So, looking at the shadow swatches from the Boudoir Palette, I think you'll see it's definitely neutral, but easily a bit sultry. It includes one of my favorite shadows of all time (Birthday Suit. See how I've hit pan on it in the Naked Palette? That's the reason I'm on Naked Palette #2). But, I also really love a few of the other shades here. Lap Dance is amazing (it's in both), Sugar Walls and Garter Belt are super pretty together as a duo, and I think the change from Stilleto to French Tickler is a big upgrade. (I didn't really ever use the matte black of Stilleto. French Tickler is really nice to add over a black liner for some fun and depth.)

If I was going to pick one of the palettes I'd go with Boudoir, but I think enough of my staples appear in both palettes that I am really loving having the options of both.

Too Faced Boudoir Eye Look How To
When I'm really pinched for time, this is my go-to eye look (hence, the over use of Birthday Suit!) It is really fast, neutral and perfect for punching up with a fun eye liner if I'm not in the mood for black or brown.

Too Faced Summer Eyes Review and Swatches

Too Faced Summer Eyes Palette Review
I've decided to declare this week Too Faced week, in celebration of one of my favorite makeup companies, but somewhat neglected here on 15 Minute Beauty. Their Shadow Insurance eye primer is a staple for me. I reach for their Natural and Naked Eye Palettes several times a week and their 16 Hour Bronzer.... love it!

The new summer eyes palette is a great collection of colorful and neutral shades. I love the little pops of color and I've already started using them, which is definitely branching out for me!

Too Faced Summer Eyes Palette Swatches

 photo summertoofaced-eye-look.jpg
I fully admit that Coral Crush is a bit brighter than I usually wear (or maybe its just that I'm used to my "bright" colors being blue, purple or green?), but when combined with some of the neutral shades it was well within my comfort range.

Prom 2013: Must Haves for Creating a Sparkle and Glitter Eye

sparkle and glitter eye products
Prom season is all about the shimmer and shine. That is why glittery eyeshadows, shimmery blush and even glimmering bronzer are all great options. Makeup Artist Christy Ann shared her favorite products for creating a glittery-shimmery eye look!

1. When applying loose glitter to the eye make sure to prep the lid with Too Faced Shadow Insurance Glitter Glue

2. MAC Glitter: Reflects Pearl and Reflects Antique Gold are Christy's Personal Faves.

3. Urban Decay's Stardust Eyeshadow Collection

4. Urban Decay 24/7 Eye Pencils: In addition to the traditional black and brown you'll find fun colors with glitter and shimmer. Bright Blue and Teal were showing up all over the runway, a bright liner accent is a great way to incorporate this trend.

5. Urban Decay Eye Shadows: From left, Midnight Cowboy, Chopper, Creep (in the Naked palette), and GunMetal are Christy's go to shades.

Kim Porter Cosmetics: Pretty, Pretty Shadows!

Kim Porter Eye Shadow Review and swatch
You may have noticed that makeup artist Kim Porter has popped up on 15 Minute Beauty quite a bit lately. Kim and I first started talking over Twitter, then over email, and I have to admit, I'm a big fan! I think she has great (and approachable) beauty tips. Plus, she's just a super nice person.

Kim Porter Eye Shadow Review and swatch
Recently she posted a few pictures of new eye shadow shades on her Facebook Page, I couldn't resist! We emailed back and forth, I decided to put together 15 shadows to fit into a compact (without the usual inset, I had a really hard time paring down to 15 after looking at Kim's pictures of the shadows. I was emailing her while on vacation in Orlando, and I was so excited that a few days after I got home I'd have these pretty shadows to play with!

(Note, yes, Kim's shadows are from a private label makeup company, so you can get the same shadows from other brands and they'll be the same. I can't find them for less than $20 each on-line, Kim charges $8 each and they are pretty nice. Moving on now.)

I went mostly for pretty neutral colors that I could add in a little color every now and then, but I also couldn't resist a few fun options like French Navy.

The shadows are pretty pigmented and easy to blend, but only last about 6 hours or so without primer, though that's pretty normal for me since my lids can get oily. (Really, does anyone skip that step any more? There are so many great ones at every price point.) With primer the colors last all day.

After using the shadows for a few weeks, it's really hard to pick favorites! Crystal and Champagne Bubbles are great for my inner eye and brow bone. Wine Frost and Cafe Couture are just... beautiful. I love that Purple Night is purple but also, somehow, a bit neutral? How did that happen?

Kim Porter is giving away 2 of the shadows (Crystal and Cafe Couture) over on her blog! Go and enter now!
