Must Have Products: IT Cosmetics

Must have makeup from IT Cosmetics
IT Cosmetics was just named a finalist for the 2013 CEW Beauty Awards, they're up for Indie Beauty!

This is a brand that somewhat randomly popped up on to my radar about 18 months ago, and while they aren't exactly flashy, they have a lot of basic products that really just work really well! Some of their products do incorporate more "advanced" technology (they have a multiple use product and a lip stick that both change color once applied), though I've found that their more basic products are just amongst the best I've used.

1. Bye Bye Under Eye: This is one of my go-to under eye concealers! It's super pigmented, and while $24 sounds like a lot for concealer, just know that it lasts forever. Really, forever... If you buy it over on QVC for $5 more you can get it with a concealer brush. I'm definitely getting that one next! I currently wear "neutral medium", but it is a tad too dark, I'll be getting light when I repurchase. If I ever run out.

2. Hello Light Powder Illuminizer: This is a lightly golden illuminator and it just catches the light perfectly, without looking too shimmery or emphasizing any "imperfections" (**cough cough**). I can't believe I haven't reviewed it yet, I use it a few times a week. Definitely a great buy! (Also, for a few bucks more over on QVC you can get the Radiance Brush too. You need that.)

3. Vitality Lip Flush Butter: Another product I have to review. There are 3, I have them all and can't figure out which is my favorite. They have color, but it is a bit more translucent than a lipstick while being more pigmented than the other lip butters out there right now. All 3 shades are very universal, you pretty much can't go wrong.

4. Brow Power: This is my new favorite brow product! It easily displaced the Anastasia I was using before. This comes in a twist pencil, so there's no sharpening, it's super easy to just quickly pencil in my brows and then run the brush end over my brows. It sticks around all day and is enough color without being "too much". It seems to only come in 1 universal shade, and it works really well for my brown brows, I'm not sure about other shades.

5. Brushes: OMG, the brushes. I want them all (except I want to take the 2 headed ones and make them all singles. How does one store those except laying down??) the bristles are soft, I love the shapes and sizes, and they seem pick up just the right amount of product.

Sleep in a Pencil: IT Cosmetics Wakes You Up!

hello bright eyes review
I would like to meet the woman who gets 8 restful hours of sleep each night. I’m here to tell you that woman does NOT exist! *And if she did, I would be tempted to murder her in one of those glorious 8 hours of sleep.

So, instead I will tell you about a new product by IT Cosmetics. The brands innovative formulas and focus on anti-aging has unknowingly enlisted me as their #1 fan. Jamie Kerns-Lima, the founder and creator of the brand is my hero!

IT’s newest product, Hello Bright Eyes Silk Anti-Aging Waterproof Brightener Duo ($24) is proving to be another fabulous addition to the line. The pencils are like little beams of light–one matte for the waterline and one pearlized for the inner corners. This problem-solving duo works to brighten up the eye area giving you the appearance of 8 hours of restful sleep. Yeah–it totally fools people like that!

These little fireflies are packed with skin-loving ingredients. Both revitalizing shades have hydrolyzed collagen, silk proteins, and Vitamins C & E for youthful looking peepers. The micro-illuminating pigments of light cause eyes to appear more bright and awake, lips to appear fuller and blur away fine lines and wrinkles!

As always IT Cosmetics keeps all the bad stuff away for us–no parabens, fragrance, phthalates, sulfates, and hypoallergenic and noncomedogenic for even the most sensitive eyes.

I really like the shade of these pencils–they are not bright white so they don’t announce “Hey I’m trying to look like I got a good nights sleep even though I haven’t since 1987,” or a fake flesh color that says “Yes, my skin is naturally the sick-peach shade of a Flesh crayon!” These are a combination of champagne/beigey/white gold that wake up tired eyes in a natural way.

Hello Bright Eyes do not skip, tug or otherwise annoy me. They are smooth and creamy and do what they are intended to do. I did have to reapply the matte one on my waterline midday. Be aware though that I have bad allergies and my eyes water frequently–you mileage may vary. I use them in the traditional way–the matte on the waterline and the pearl on the inner corners of the eye. By no means feel confined to these two ways. The matte shade works great on the brow bone to give your eyes a lift and the pearl also works well for making your lips look fuller.

Bottom Line: If you are in need of a bit of brightening, these are the perfect solution for waking up your face, eyes and whatever else is asleep!

Cindy is the amazing woman behind Prime Beauty, a beauty blog for women over 40 and in the prime of their lives! She has a laid back approach that I love, and her age appropriate (but not old!) tips are amazing. I can't even tell you how many times I've recommended her blog to friends and family.

Concealer Series: It Cosmetics Bye Bye Undereye Concealer

I fully admit to being a tad bit burnt out on testing new concealers for a while, hence they went away for a few weeks. Then I got a package of goodies from a brand new to me, It Cosmetics. This amazing concealer was included (as well as a ton of other stuff that I loved), and I can't stop reaching for it!

The formula includes Vitamins A, C and E, which act as anti-oxidants as well as Vitamin K to help fight under-eye circles. It says that the formula is also waterproof, though I did not test this out.

Consistency: It comes in a tube, but is a bit thicker than most concealers packaged this way.
Blendability: Very blendable, but it does set up in about 30 seconds so work fast!
Buildable coverage: Yes
Feeling on skin: Lightweight
Wear: 10-12 hours
Problems with wear: Caking when too much is used. 1-2 coats and I avoid this issue
Shades Available: 4 shades, I used Light.
