I Chopped It!

Big hair cut

Last weekend I went to a huge blogging conference, BlogHer. I'll have some recap eventually (I found a lot of cool things that I want to share that aren't beauty related), but the biggest thing, other than hanging out with a log ot my blogging friends, was that this happened. I suddenly chopped off my hair!

I fully admit that I was thinking about cutting off my hair. My regular readers might remember that last summer I completely fried my hair by skipping my heat protectant one day (OMG, never do that!), and my hair has grown enough that a shorter hair cut could finally get rid of the last bits of damage. Not to mention all of the great shorter hair cuts that were piling up in my hair inspiration Pinterest board....

Basically, most of the beauty bloggers were invited to an event for Mark Hill Hair, a really popular hair line in the UK that is launching at Walgreen's here in the US. We could get a braid or a blow out, which is what I had scheduled. When I showed up at 7:30 am with my friends, I wasn't anticipating what happened, and what you see above is about 1/3 of the hair that was on the floor.

Read on to see pics!

my Mark Hill hair cut
When I showed up that morning I had long hair, but when Jules, the Creative Director of the Mark Hill Salon saw me, he immediately started asking to cut my hair. Like, a lot. I kind of shocked myself when I said yes! I've always been a long hair girl and the only time my hair has been shorter than my shoulders I immediately started regrowing it.

In the pics here you can see me before the cut with Jules, during the cut with Jules (that's Mark in the mirror taking my picture) and at the end you can see the back of my hair. I think this shot shows my hair color the best, the other pics have washed it out a bit.

Since the haircut I've moved my part over to the side just a tad and I'm trying a little extra volume at the crown like Jules styled it.

Mark Hill Products

Obviously, Jules used Mark Hill's products on me. I'm still trying some out, but I do have to say that their heated velcro rollers are amazing and I'm buying them the moment they're available here in the US (apparently at the end of the year). As well, their whole MiracOILicious line smells absolutely amazing and works really well, so if your hair is at all dry or damaged it is worth checking out!

  10. The cut (and color) looks beautiful on you, but I'm curious - when I had something similar I ended up pushing it behind my ears because it kept falling in my face whenever I looked down at paperwork. This put an S bend in it that ruined the line of the cut. I'm wondering whether you have this issue and, if so, what you do about it.

  13. Anon- the cut seems to fall so I don't have to push it behind my ear. I'm not sure how Jules did that, I just put in a smoothing cream and an oil, dry my hair and that's it. No flat iron, no fussing or anything!
