Milani Perfect Colour Lip Sticks Review and Swatches

Milani Perfect Lip Colour Lipstick Review and Swatches

I've been trying more Milani products, and I have to say that they've yet to disappoint me. These lipsticks are very well pigmented, the colors are pretty and I think they last for a long time (about 6-7 hours on me without reapplication). I didn't notice any flavor either, which is a big thing for me.

Milani Powder Eye Shadows: Giving MAC a Run For Their Money?

Milani Powder Eye Shadows Review and Swatches

I fully admit that I'm a bit of an eye shadow snob. I have a lot of eye shadow and most of it can't be purchased at a mass market store. And by most, I mean about 98% of what I have. So, when trying out eye shadows that you can pick up while restocking your cleaning supplies or picking up a prescription... I am biased.

But, these Milani eye shadows surprised me with how just... well, kinda amazing they are. The colors are beautiful and have depth. They're well pigmented. They blend easily. I used them over my usual eye primer (right now it's the NYX one in the pot) and it lasted all day long without any creasing or fading.

I was impressed! Read on to see how pretty all of the colors are.

Makeup Wars! The Battle of the Taupe Shadows: Wet 'N Wild Nutty For the Win!

I'm really, really excited about today's post! This is the first of what I hope will be many Makeup Wars posts!

What exactly does that mean?

A few weeks ago I was putting on a new shadow. I had picked it up randomly at Walmart, and I was really impressed with the color, how well it blended, etc. (More on that shadow in a bit.) And yes, I fully admit that while I was putting on my new taupe shadow, I was thinking about my friend, Pink Sith, and her love of Taupe. She has over 130 taupe posts on her blog. She is continually featuring ones that I can't have because they have been discontinued. And I swear that some day, I am going to visit her home and just play in the pretty taupe shadows.

Anyways, I was thinking of her love of taupe and wondering what her favorite drugstore taupe shadow is, and then my other blogger friends... Somehow I created a little group of bloggers (well, there are actually 19 of us) and every 2 weeks or so we'll be posting coordinated posts like this one. Today you'll see everyone's favorite taupe shadows, but we have other ideas and fun challenges in the works for the future! After the post below you'll be able to just click the arrow button to get to the next post or you can skip around to look at the other taupe shadows.

Nutty has somehow become one of my go-to shadows for my crease area. It is well pigmented but not too dark for my super pale skin, has some depth to it (meaning it isn't simply a flat matte blah thing) but it is very neutral and pairs really well with other shadows. A few swipes of Nutty in the crease (I go back and forth like a windshield wiper) and my eye makeup suddenly looks much more professional.

I thought I'd share my other 2 favorite drugstore taupes as well. It is really hard to say that I love any of them more or less than the others. These 3 shadows live on my counter top and they aren't likely to be moving any time soon!

Milani Illuminating Powder: Add A Little Glow For Less

Milani Illuminating Powder
As a super pale girl, who yes, has embraced the pale... I'm still slightly fighting the pale. I swear that I have "pale days" and I'm paler on those days and it is really easy to look a bit sickly. Maybe I didn't sleep quite right the night before, maybe I didn't pick quite the right eye shadow... you get the picture. For whatever reason, people will be asking me all day long if I feel ok.

To help combat the super pale days, I like to use a little extra color. Usually I use a MAC Beauty Powder or a Bobbi Brown Shimmer brick with a really big brush. I like powders with just a small amount of shimmer, a little pink or peach, and then I apply it the way I would a bronzer. So, a big brush, make a "3" on your face. So, the temple, outer cheek bone, and then jaw line. Then down the middle of my nose and on my chin. The point isn't to actually see the color, but something so subtle that it just makes me look more awake and, well, not sick.

Finally, there's a powder from a mass market brand that I can do this with! Read on to check out the Milani Illuminating Face Powders.

Milani Runway Eyes: Review and Swatches

Have you seen these new shadows from Milani? They're the latest additions to the Runway Eyes shadow collection from Milani. I fully admit to having seen the Runway Eyes previously and completely dismissing them. How good could they be? I was skeptical of the strange long and skinny shape of each shadow, they are actually elevated above the compact instead of imbedded in the compact, and I admit that I'm a shadow snob. I expect only too powdery and not well pigmented shadows to be available for a decent price. So I've passed on them.

Read on to see what these shadows look like in swatches and to hear why I'll be hunting down more of the collection.

This one wasn't very good with my light cool tone coloring. I did try to layer it over other things... it was a no go.

Milani Runway Lashes Review: Still Debating

Milani Runway Lashes Review
I have to admit that I'm still undecided about this mascara. Yes, it adds volume. Milani claims that it is long lasting (yup), smear-proof (that too), but non-clumping. This is my issue, since for me this mascara really was clump-city.

After applying, I had to spend quite a bit of time using my lash brush pulling things apart. Note, I skip that step on picture days since about 99.99% of women don't do this. I try to show how it will work for you. So, here are some clumps! This was actually a somewhat clump free day.

BUT.... once the clumps were gone, I did like this mascara. It adds some volume. It adds some length. It keeps the curl pretty much all day, about the 12 hour mark (this pic was at 14 hours) things do start to disappear. Until then, it looks pretty much the same as right after application. I'm just not too sure about the time I spent to keep things clump free. If you figure out the trick, let me know!

2 light coats to opaque, it is dry to the touch after just a few minutes but fully dry took about 15-20 minutes for me.

2 very light coats to opaque. This takes about 15-20 minutes to dry completely, though it's pretty dry to the touch after about 3 minutes or so.

In person this is an interesting color, red with some pink in it. It comes across a bit in the picture, but to appreciate this you really need to apply it.

Lippie Love: Milani's Haute Flash Lip Gloss, Full Coverage with Shimmer, review, swatch
Just look at these glosses.... sooo pretty, right? Even better, they promise full coverage, and for once that includes shimmer rather than a boring creme (is it just me or does every lip gloss with coverage only come in creme? Maybe I need to branch out more...)

Anyways, they are insanely pretty. Read on for swatches and to see what they look like on me.
