New Fall Polishes by OPI: I Kinda Want them All?

OPI Nail Polish

I fully admit that I've fallen a little bit off of the nail polish wagon this summer. Things have been crazy hectic for me, and my large polish collection (and my cuticles) have been sorely neglected! I'm finding inspiration in the colors that OPI is releasing for Fall/Winter. This collection is coming out on August 8th!

NLG13: Berlin There Done That
NLG14: Danke-Shiny Red
NLG15: Deutsch You Want Me Baby?
NLG16: Don’t Pretzel My Buttons
NLG17: Don’t Talk Bach to Me
NLG18: Every Month is Oktoberfest
NLG19: German-icure by OPI
NLG20: My Very First Knockwurst
NLG21: Nein! Nein! Nein! OK Fine!
NLG22: Schnapps Out of It!
NLG23: Suzi & the 7 Düsseldorfs
NLG24: Unfor-greta-bly Blue

I find that the DS shades can sometimes be hard to find in stock (especially around me, is there some sort of extra glitter fetish in Ann Arbor that I don't know about?), but they're well worth the hunt! Perfect for a pretty accent nail or an entire blingy mani.
DS042: DS Indulgence, a radiant red-violet with a shimmering, golden finish.
DS043: DS Luxurious, a captivating coral-red with a golden glisten.

Finally, I know that I'm not alone in my love of Nicole, especially when they run store exclusive shades. They've had Walmart and Target exclusives before, and they are usually a bit more fashion forward and really just... fun?

NI401: Mer-Maid for Each Other
NI402: For Gold Times Sake
NI403: Iris My Case
NI404: Just Busta Mauve
NI405: If the Blue Fits…

So, which shades are calling your name? Do you need a new green or blue, or are you just needing a more neutral shade to offset your new (dark) fall lippie?

MAC Hey Sailor Nail Polishes: Vestral White and Touch of Red

MAC, Hey Sailor nail polish swatches and review. Vestral White and Touch of Red
I have to fully admit, that when I opened these polishes I loved them immediately just based on the packaging! I'm still all about stripes (I don't feel they're going away any time soon) and I fell in serious love with the bottles.

If only both of the polishes inside were so nice. Touch of Red is definitely the standout. It's a bright red creme that in some lights has a bit of extra pink in it, super pretty! It applied beautifully. I have on 3 light and even coats and the coverage was perfect.

I thought that perhaps Vestral White would be a good layering or nail art white polish. No dice. It is very bright white, and looks just like white out on your nails. (Remember doing that when you were a kid?) Unfortunately, I found that the coverage was pretty spotty and my polish was gloppy even after a bit of thinning out with nail polish thinner. Even with 4 thin coats I didn't have full coverage, and by then it was all so gross on my nail that I didn't even bother taking pictures. So, pass on the Vestral White!

Yes, lots of little tiny glitter! It's not really normal glitter, it almost acts like a foil, but not quite. It's hard to explain.

I love that there are quite a few colors involved in the polish rather than just a flat silver/grey color. This is 2 coats and it is really opaque. While it was a little harder to take off than a normal polish I thought it was easier than a typical glitter.

Butter London's Yummy Mummy Nail polish is a very pretty nude, though obviously it doesn't work with every skin tone.

I like that it has a very subtle shimmer to add dimension.

This is a great purple, though similar to OPI's LPAD and LPAM, it is so dark purple that in many lights it looks black.

2 coats to opaque.

Butter London's New Lippies: Lips to Match Your Tips

butter london swatch review nail polish
Butter London is one of those cult brands that is becoming more well known lately. I love their colors and they do wear very well. They've just released a line of glosses to match their best selling polishes, and I think they're a lot of fun! They're perfect for the matchy-matchy look that promises to be popular this spring.

These lippies are well pigmented and feel hydrating with minimal stickiness. They smell (and taste) a bit floral with some melon thrown in to the mix. It's a bit... odd? I don't notice after a few minutes, but the floral in a lippy just wasn't something I was expecting. They lasted a few hours on me without issues before starting to fade, which is pretty good considering how much I'm usually chatting or sipping on a drink.

The lip glosses apply with a sponge applicator (which does have a little angle on it). The gloss is a bit thicker than many other glosses, so the sponge is a much better applicator than a brush would be.

The shades aren't 100% faithfully reproduced, thank goodness! The main difference was the frosty shimmer in Yummy Mummy. That lippy is a creme.

Read on to see how the shades look on me.

3 light coats to opaque. In person the shimmer is a bit more subtle, though you can still see it. Over all it's really pretty.

This glitter is in a clear base once dry and it is amazing for layering. My favorite is definitely over My Pointe Exactly, though it works over a lot of different colors. All of these pics are just 1 layer of Pirouette My Whistle.

2 light coats to opaque, it is dry to the touch after just a few minutes but fully dry took about 15-20 minutes for me.

I think this polish would be better for layering over a similar pink creme, it took me 4 coats to reach this opacity, which is pretty much my limit. In person I still has some less than opaque areas.

I love the shimmer in this one. It's unexpected in what should be a boring pale pink creme.

China Glaze Fast Track

China Glaze Fast Track, swatch, review
This is an interesting color. It has really, very pretty shimmer. It has a semi-opaque base (it took me 4 thin coats to get it really opaque), but there's enough pigmentation there that you don't want to layer it over other colors. That base just shows up too much.

China Glaze Fast Track, swatch, review
I'll be using this in the future layered over an opaque similar color. Really, that shimmer is worth it!
