Bobbi Brown Telluride Palette Review, Swatches and Quick Look Tutorial

Bobbi Brown released her Telluride palette in the middle of the summer, and it is really amazing for the transition to fall! The colors are warm and cozy, but not too dark. There's just the right amount of shimmer, and I've totally fallen for it! It's limited edition, but you can still buy it at Sephora, Bobbi Brown, or Nordstrom.

Top 10 Tuesday: My Favorite Neutral Eye Shadow Palettes

I love a good eye shadow palette, and if the shadows are neutral, then I love it even more! Here's a peek at the neutral shadow palettes that I'm obsessing over right now. And really, is it any surprise that the first 3 are from Bobbi Brown, given my recent obsession? I didn't think so!

1. Bobbi Brown Greige Eye Palette: The newest one from Bobbi, this really is full of the perfect taupey-grey beige colors. Both matte and shimmer. Read my full Greige Eye Palette review and swatches, buy the palette from Bobbi Brown or Nordstrom.

2. Bobbi Brown Secret to Standout Eyes: This was the special palette from the Nordies Anniversary sale, but you can buy it still, just at a slightly higher price now. It's taken up permanent residence on my vanity counter, it is pointless to put it away! I'm hoping Bobbi releases Oyster as a shadow single, I'll probably hit pan in the next month or so. Here is my Secret to Standout Eyes review, you can buy the palette from Bobbi Brown or Nordstrom.

3. Bobbi Brown Shimmering Sands Eye Palette: Check out my full Shimmering Sands Palette Review and Swatches, you can buy the palette still from Bobbi Brown or Sephora.

4. Too Faced Boudoir Eyes: This is one of my old stand bys, I'm on my 2nd palette. Yes, I repurchased a palette. That is love people. Read my Too Faced Boudoir Eyes review, you can buy it from Too Faced or Sephora.

5. Urban Decay Naked: How could you have a neutral palette list without this palette? You can't. It's a classic and it works for everyone. It is definitely worth the steep price! Buy it from Urban Decay, Sephora or Nordstrom.

6. Urban Decay Naked Basics: This palette is filled with the neutral mattes that go perfectly with the Naked palette, and there's a #2 version to go with Naked2 (I have both, but prefer this version). Definitely get it if you find you are hitting pan on the neutral mattes you need to create looks and you're hitting pan! Buy it from Urban Decay, Sephora or Nordstrom.

7. Urban Decay Naked2: I think this palette is likely the most universally useful/flattering of the 3 Naked Palettes. Buy it from Urban Decay, Sephora or Nordstrom.

8. Urban Decay Naked3: This isn't for everyone, the rose-gold leaning of this palette is definitely easier for some to pull off than others. But, it's the Naked palette I reach for the most! Buy it from Urban Decay, Sephora or Nordstrom.

9. MAC Nordstrom Naturals Eyeshadow Palette: There are slightly different versions of this palette, but this one is my favorite. It has MAC shadows like Satin Taupe, Carbon and All That Glitters. For an amazing price! I use mine frequently. I have pictures taken, I'll try to get a full review up soon! Buy it from Nordstrom.

10. Stila Eyes Are the Window Shadow Palette in Soul: I have this in Soul and Spirit, and I use them a lot! I use Soul a little more frequently, that's why I've featured it here. Check out my Stila Eyes are the Window Shadow Palette Review and Swatches, you can buy it at Sephora, ULTA or Nordstrom.

Bobbi Brown's New Greige Eye Shadow Palette Review and Swatches: Buy It!

I Bought It Affiliate Links

Bobbi Brown Greige Eye Shadow Palette

Hello, my name is Christine, and I am a Bobbi Brown Addict. I can not help it, I have a sudden, overwhelming urge to buy. all. the. Bobbi. Brown. I must have it!!

The Telluride collection recently came out (and, yes, I have some of it, I need to edit my pictures to write about it), but the Greige palette is where it's at. OMG. Yes, if you like Bobbi Brown, you need this palette (and The Secret to Standout Eyes, which is a great companion palette. They work very well together).

Bobbi Brown Greige Eye Shadow Palette

Just a quick glance at the shadows and you can see why I love this palette so much. It's classic Bobbi Brown. This is a smallish compact, the outside is a faux navy leather, and the inside is very sleek, and it includes a large mirror on the inside. It closes with a nice metallic click, and I don't worry that it would accidentally open when I travel with it. Note, I wouldn't necessarily carry it open in a big tote, but it would be just fine in a makeup bag to carry around every where.

Bobbi Brown Greige Eye Shadow Palette

The shadows are swatched over Too Faced Shadow Insurance Primer, pictures in indirect natural sunlight.

You can see that they are pretty average in pigmentation for Bobbi Brown shadows, which is less than other department store brands like MAC. (Which, I have to say, are sometimes so pigmented that I do think they can be hard to use.)

To get the most out of these shadows, I actually layer 2 shadow primers. I start with a shadow primer base, usually my NYX Eye Shadow Base because it provides coverage and hides any visible blood vessels. Then I pat a light layer of e.l.f. Essential Glitter Primer on to my mobile lid, which is where I want my pigment to be the most... well, pigmented. It does take about 1 extra minute for the 2nd primer, but the results are well worth it! I can then layer on my shadows. The shadow lasts all day, looking perfect the entire time.

Bobbi Brown Greige Eye Shadow Palette Quick Look

Here's a peek at how I looked a few days ago using the palette. This is a very simple look, I have Greystone on my mobile lid, Brown Haze in my crease and Ivory above that on the brow bone. I lined my eyes with Bobbi Brown Perfectly Defined Gel Eyeliner in Chocolate Truffle and finished with Bobbi Brown Smokey Eye Mascara.

You can buy the Bobbi Brown Greige Eye Shadow Palette from Bobbi Brown, Macy's, Bloomingdale's, Nordstrom, or Neiman Marcus.

Bobbi Brown Shimmering Sands

Bobbi Brown's Shimmering Sands Palette has been out for a while (and I've had it for quite a while), and I debated about even putting the pictures up since it seems to be almost gone. But, a friend asked me about it at work last week, so here are my pictures of it!

Fall 2011: Bobbi Brown's Tortoise Collection

Fall 2011: Bobbi Brown's Tortoise Collection
I'm finally not melting every time I step outside and the end of summer sales have started. Which means I'm finally in the mood to talk about Fall's new makeup! Bobbi Brown is the master of neutral and just "pretty" in my opinion, and her fall Tortoise collection is my favorite so far. The collection was inspired by Bobbi's pair of tortoise shell frames.

Fall 2011: Bobbi Brown's Tortoise Collection
As usual, for me the stars of the show are definitely the eye shadow palettes. They are limited edition and a bit pricy at $60 a pop, but with the amazing neutrals found in each, I'm choosing to focus on the price per shadow. Which is $8.50. Rationalization? Yes, but it works!

Bronze Tortoise Shell Eye Palette
The Bronze palette is a collection of warm neutral makeup for medium to darker skin tones.

The shadows (from Left to Right, Top to Bottom):
• Banana: Buttery Cream
• Olive Sparkle: Golden Green
• Gold Nugget Sparkle: Yellow Gold
• Bronze: True Bronze
• Tiger's Eye Metallic: Golden Copper
• Copper Cocoa Shimmer Wash: Light Chocolate Brown
• Espresso: Dark Chocolate Brown
• Amber Shimmer Wash: Pink Bronze

Sand Tortoise Shell Eye Palette
Warm neutrals for those of us with lighter skin tones. I'm a pretty cool toned girl, but this palette looks like it would still work for me.

The shadows (from Left to Right, Top to Bottom):
• Ivory: Creamy White
• Terracotta: Warm Golden Nude
• Hot Stone: Medium Brown
• Desert Sand Metallic: Golden Beige
• Antique Rose: Warm Pink Nude
• Sandy Rose Metallic: Brown Bronze
• Black Chocolate: Black Brown
• Gold Bar Sparkle: Pale Gold

The Shadows I'm using over and over... Bobbi Brown's Peony & Python Palette

Bobbi Brown's Peony & Python Palette, Swatch
Recently I showed you Bobbi Brown's Peony & Python Collection. Since that post I've received a palette (click the image above to enlarge the pic) to try out, and I have to say that I want to use it all the time!

I'm especially drawn to the grey in the upper left (click the picture to enlarge). I've been using that on my entire lid and then layering the light purple over it. Somehow this combination is both neutral and glowy on my lid. I shade my crease with the dark purple (very light, it's enough to shade but doesn't look like I've drawn a purple crayon on my lid). Finally I do a black eye liner and trace over it with the black shadow which I can easily smudge just a tad. Quick and easy even for this new mom!

I found that the shadows are pretty well pigmented, but it's still easy to get a subtle look with a larger brush. Like all Bobbi Brown shadows they blend easily, last all day and I have no issues with caking.

Bobbi Brown EXTRA Repair Serum

Bobbi Brown EXTRA Repair Serum
Have you heard about the new serum from Bobbi Brown? This promises to be one of winter's best hydrators, and if you're experiencing tightness or flaking this might be worth checking out. The formula includes Sodium Hyaluronate and Glycerin to help infuse your skin with moisture, as well as Wheat, Bran & Olive Extract Complexes to help your skin's natural barrier function (which might be a tad stretched right now). It even includes a few of my favorite anti-aging ingredient categories.

I haven't tried it out yet myself, but I couldn't resist mentioning it since so many readers have mentioned struggling with typical "winter skin".

Also contains: Caffeine (temporary tightening), Sodium Hyaluronate (a ton of hydration)

Oh my gosh! The Bobbi Brown Train Case

When I go to my local Cosmetic Company Outlet, I like to visit the Bobbi Brown Train Case. A big, leather expandable case, full of wonderful makeup storage, and it comes from the Queen of Makeup, Bobbi Brown.

Can you imagine the shock I felt yesterday when I opened a gift bag from my beloved nieces (ok, really from their mom)? Inside was the biggest of the cases that is available. It was for me. I was in shock for a bit, I honestly am not really sure what my reaction was, I'm not even sure that I gave my sister-in-law a hug after I opened it. But, I've already loaded it up with much of my makeup, and I feel much more organized! This kit will allow me to keep my stash under "control", meaning I'll force myself to give away items that don't fit in my drawer or the case. But the case is large... it will hold a lot of makeup...

New At Bobbi Brown- The Metallics and Best Sellers Palette!

When Bobbi Brown announced this fall's new collection the metallics, I thought that I would be able to hold off on buying this palette. As someone who's bought a huge number of Bobbi Brown palettes, shadows, etc. over the past year or so, I thought that I had enough Bobbi and I would try out some other brands. I might be wrong!

I visited the new Metallics today at Bloomingdale's at South Coast Plaza here in Orange County (we were trying escape the 100 degree heat!), and I love all of the colors! A lot of these shades were what I really expected from my Stonewashed Nudes, but even better! I swatched all of the palettes on my hand and even on my pale skin, all of the shades looked fantastic.

I think that my favorite might be (unexpectedly) the Velvet Plum palette (in this picture, that's the one on the bottom). The colors in the plum palette are more neutral than they appear in the picture, and they are all just the right balance between pigmented and sheer. Just 1 swipe with an eyeshadow brush and I deposited just the right amount of shadow. The dark color is a beauty, it is a dark smokey black with a purple lean and beautiful shimmer! I also really loved the Burnt Sugar (golder toned) palette, which also was fantastic on my skin. The Midnight Metallics (the blues) is perfect for this fall's blue smokey eye, and the Forest Metallics (the greens) were for me the least flattering, but I think would be perfect on my red headed, blue eyed sister (Nikki, are you listening?).

Hurry to pick up your palette today. These are limited edition, and the makeup artist, Shonda, informed me that she has already sold out of the Burnt Sugar palette in the week these have been out. She only has 2 Velvet Plums left, and has sold over half of her Midnight and Forest Palettes. All 4 are still available on Bobbi's website.
Bobbi Brown The Metallics

Also available now at a Bobbi Brown coounter near you, is the fantastic new palette, The Best Seller's Palette. While most companies will fill palettes with one or two great shades and then some so-so ones, this palettes is just filled with Bobbi's all time best sellers! If you're new to Bobbi, or you travel often, this palette is perfect for you!

The 4 eyeshadows included in this palette are a few of my favorites: White (don't be afraid, it's very sheer and is perfect for an all over eye color when paired with the wheat, I also love to highlight with it), Wheat (see, you can use this with the white), Champagne Truffle Shimmer (not a lot of shimmer, but a lovely light tan color), and Espresso, which is perfect for lining the eye with.

The lip colors included in this palette are some of my favorites as well: Sandwash, Brownie (a long-time Bobbi classic), Rum Raisin, and Raspberry lip shimmer.

You will not be disappointed in the palette! I may return to Bloomingdale's sometime soon when I have a bit more time to have my makeup done by Shona (look for the African American girl with perfect skin if you go, she was super sweet even though I was trying to run away before I spent a lot of money, I going to switch to Bloomies from the Nordies BB counter because of her!), and I expect I'll pick up the Best Sellers Palette and my yearly new fall foundation then.

Bobbi Brown Long-Wear Gel Eyeliner

Bobbi Brown Long-Wear Gel Eyeliner
I literally worship Bobbi Brown. Say all you want about how basic her line is, only basic colors, blah blah blah. That's why I love her. She concentrates on what women need to be beautiful. Plus, her line is the only one that makes a foundation that actually matches my light complexion.

On a recent trip to the Bobbi Brown counter in the South Coast Plaza, I was looking for a new look for my eyes. I have big brown eyes that I have no idea how to put eyeshadow on. Literally. I try over and over, and I can never make anything look right. Plus, I have no time to get ready in the morning, so I needed a quick look that would look professional and last for my crazy hours at work. Lauren was there to help me, and she quickly showed me a quick look using only 2 eyeshadow colors that even I can't mess up.

Then when it was time for eyeliner, she suggested the gel eyeliner. I have only ever used eyeliner pencil, so this eyeliner was a new experience for me. Applied with a small brush, the eyeliner gets worked into the base of the lashes. When applied thickly on its own, it looks like liquid eyeliner (not a look I have tried yet). But when a second line of dark eyeshadow is applied over it, it looks just like regular eyeliner. That stays put for my entire on-call work day without budging. That's 30 hours! Plus, the eyeliner comes in a huge range of colors, so there is sure to be a color for everyone. I bought the brush as well, which Lauren says is a shiny synthetic that will be less likely to dry out the pot of eyeliner.

Bobbi Brown Creamy Concealer Kit

Bobbi Brown Creamy Concealer Kit

I've talked about my crazy work hours and extreme lack of sleep before, so it should come as no surprise to you that I battle to "look awake" pretty much every day. I've tried everything, from heavy foundation to almost no foundation, I've done the Laura Mercier "Perfect Face" thing to more recently Bobbi Brown, and I have to say I think her look is the most natural.

Bobbi's concealers are different, in that rather than 1 step, there are actually 2 different concealers to apply. The first step is a corrector, which looks flesh toned but actually has quite a bit of pink in it. This step is meant for those with dark circles (like me), and the pink corrects that undertone back to normal. The second step is the actual concealer itself. It has a creamy texture, and is best applied using your fingers, which may be my favorite part since for one I don't need to feel guilty about my lack of an expensive brush! The concealer comes with powder underneath for setting it. My only complaint is that the little powder puff that comes with the concealer doesn't fit in this area, it stays in a little pouch. But, overall this is my favorite concealer for how awake it makes me look.

Bobbi Brown Bridal Face Palatte

Bobbi Brown Bridal Face Palatte

This new palette is a limited edition for this spring, and is meant to have everything needed for a "fresh and polished bridal look." Why wasn't this around back when I was getting married? This palette has a great, classic look all pulled together for the bargain price of only $50!

Colors included in the palette are: French Pink blush, Petal Shimmer Wash Eyeshadow and White Eye Shadow (actually a few translucent color, so don't let the fact that it is white scare you!), Smoke Eyeshadow (meant to be applied as an eyeliner), Tulle and Slopes Lip colors and Posey Shimmer Lip Gloss. The only things not included that might be needed for the look are lip liner and mascara.

I think that this look isn't only for the bride, but would also be a great look for any wedding guest, for work, travel or just a fresh spring makeup update. You can be sure this is on my list for my next trip to the mall!
