L'Oreal Volume Shocking Mascara

L'Oreal Volume Shocking Mascara

This may be my holy grail of mascara. I'm on my third tube, and I'm not sure that I'll ever buy a different mascara again! This mascara delivers long, thick lashes that stay curled all day long, don't flake and get me a ton of compliments. But, it comes with a price- it is extremely difficult to apply.

There are 2 steps, the first is a white primer with a full, classic mascara brush with which to apply it. While this layer is still wet, I use the second layer, black mascara applied with a plastic comb. This step is very tricky, and usually clumps. It is important to start at the very base of the lash, move slowly and go over each area twice to ensure full coverage. Immediately after applying the mascara, I comb through my lashes with a metal eyelash comb from Sonia Kashuk. Be careful not to sneeze or touch your lashes for about 10 minutes after applying- it takes forever to dry. But, I can really say that this mascara is well worth the time and effort it takes to learn to apply it properly. It's going to take a lot to pry me away from this mascara!

  1. I'm a big fan of your blog and I love reading it! I'm also a huge mascara whore and I love mascara but I'm still on the hunt for the best one. After this entry, I went out an bought myself L'Oreal Volume Shocking Mascara (in waterproof because non-waterproof mascaras never hold my curl). I love it but a few problems:
    1) Sometimes you can still see the white stuff in the light so that my eyelashes don't look completely black
    2) It's ridiculously hard to remove! Even with make-up remover that claims to take off waterproof mascara! But maybe that's because I bought the waterproof version.

Regardless, it's still one of my favs but I'm still searching. Thanks for recommending it!

  3. I've never used the waterproof version actually. I'm a bit afraid of it, simply because it does take a lot of eye makeup remover to take this one off, I can't imagine getting the waterproof version off of my eye lashes!
