New Mommy Beauty: At Home Hair Tips from Sarah Potempa

Mommy, New Mom, Beauty, Tricks, Hints, Time Savers
I previously shared some amazing (and really specific) hair styling tips from Sarah Potempa for while in the hospital, both in labor and immediately post-partum. She has some great tips for being at home with your newborn!

Sarah Potempa, Hair StylistSarah Potempa began her styling career at the age of fifteen in Chicago, Illinois. She later graduated from the Aveda Institute and she moved on to study business and creativity at NYU. After graduation she began assisting industry giants Recine, Danilo, and Ward. Her extensive experience as a freelance stylist includes editorial work for renowned magazines such as Vogue, Vanity Fair, Esquire, and W. She has worked with celebrities such as Ali Larter, Rose McGowan, Amy Smart, Julianne Moore, Shalom Harlow, Josh Hartnett, Jake Gyllenhall and Patrick Dempsey as well as advertising campaigns for Converse by John Varvatos, Tommy Hilfiger, Urban Outfitters, FHI Heat and MTV.

Not only is Sarah Aussie's Celebrity Stylist (go check out her must have products and amazing tips on the Aussie web site), but she's also a new mom to a son! I can't think of anyone more qualified to share these tips!

1.) Night Styling - A quick, easy way to style your hair with a newborn is to shower at night, towel dry hair, add Aussie's Aussome Volume Spray Gel and twist hair into 3-4 loose buns. This will create texture that you can wear in the morning--whether in a loose updo or if you have a short style that you can wear down.

2.) Daily style- When nursing your baby, it will be very important to keep your hair out of the way. A good tip is to create a smooth, stylish looking bun. The best way to do this is with a clean part. Using a tail comb, create a clean line. Apply Aussie's Mousse + Leave-In conditioner and comb hair into a ponytail. Secure with an elastic and then twist or braid hair into a bun and secure with flat hair pins--which can be softer than bobby pins.

3.)Color - You will definitely feel beautiful inside, but it is important to your sanity to stay looking great on the outside too! Schedule your color and cut appointment prior to having the baby for 3-4 weeks after the birth. This will give you a good reason to pamper yourself and let the grandparents have some time with the baby!
