MAC's Reel Sexy Collection: Review and Swatches

MAC has just released a new collection. (Are you shocked? I'm not. After all, it has been a whole 2 weeks.) I thought that I'd change things up a little bit and actually post all of the swatch pics at one time! Wow!

I'm still taking pics of the lippies individually on my lips (I've been slowed down by them staining my lips a little bit), so you'll be seeing those over the next few days in Lippie Love posts.

MAC Sheen Supreme Lipglasses

These recently released Sheen Supreme lipglasses from MAC are really pretty. I fully admit that I'm not a big fan of the packaging (they're in pens that need to be twisted to release the gloss), I'm really good at releasing way too much gloss. They are a bit stickier than the normal lipglasses as well. But the colors... oh so worth it!

Butter London's Yummy Mummy Lippie. It's a very basic nude that works for me, though I do miss having some shimmer. I've been mixing in a little dot of pink gloss in the center of my lip to add dimension and the result is amazing!

Lippie Love: American Apparel's Lip Gloss

This post may actually be a little be...extraneous? Because, believe it or not, American Apparel actually posts swatch pictures on their website. For real. This is pretty amazing, I'd love it if other companies took the hint.

Beauty items at American Apparel typically are a bit of an after thought. You go for new leggings or t-shirts and that hot pink nail polish looks soooo cute. Or that tomato red lip gloss, it looks like a flattering way to incorporate the "tangerine tango" color that people can't stop talking about. I think that these glosses probably deserve to be actually on that shopping list.

This glosses aren't sticky, are a bit translucent so the colors are pretty flattering, and they taste a bit sweet. They do last for a few hours on me, and they would likely last quite a bit longer if I could go more than 10 minutes without need a drink of coffee or water.

Laura Mercier's Empty Palette and New Shades

Recently I shared Laura Mercier's Custom Portfolio, a new, limited edition item to help you keep everything you need, for every day or for travel, all at your fingertips. Laura also created some new shades, both limited edition and permanent collection, to fit into the included compacts.

Since my posting I've been able to try out a few of the new shades (and a 6 well compact) for myself! Read on to see pics and hear what I thought.

Lippie Love: Milani's Haute Flash Lip Gloss, Full Coverage with Shimmer

Just look at these glosses.... sooo pretty, right? Even better, they promise full coverage, and for once that includes shimmer rather than a boring creme (is it just me or does every lip gloss with coverage only come in creme? Maybe I need to branch out more...)

Anyways, they are insanely pretty. Read on for swatches and to see what they look like on me.

Shop MAC Kissable Lips- Woo Me and En-Chantee Review and Swatches

I'm a big fan of MAC's Kissable Lips. Are they a gloss, or are they a lipstick? Really, they're a bit of both. They apply like a gloss, are well pigmented like a creamy lipstick, and they aren't sticky at all. They feel hydrating like a balm. They last for hours like a lipstick. Really, they're the best of both world.

Both of these shades are from the Shop MAC collection, and they're amazing! I've been using them non-stop, and I know they're going to be favorites for years. Woo Me is just a tad darker than my own lips and is a neutral that just works for my skin. En-Chantee is very pretty, though can become a bit too pink with a lot of layers. If I stick 1-2 layers I get a very pretty light pink that is perfect for spring.

Do you prefer gloss or lipstick? I've found myself reaching more and more for these hybrid products.

Lippie Love: BareMinerals Dare Devil Gloss

This lip gloss came from my BareMinerals Bare Luxury Set, which is still available on QVC the last time I checked. While I loved a lot of items in this set, the lippies were my fave!

Dare Devil is a deep berry color that gives a great hint of a plum/dark red but isn't any where near as difficult to wear. Love it.

MAC Tendertone Lip Balm from Cook MAC: Scary in the Pot, much?

Whoa, holy brightness Batman! Yes, that is a super, crazy bright orange lip balm. I pulled it out and all I could say was "what were you thinking MAC?"

Luckily, it turns out that that when applied these balms are much more wearable. I haven't had sun *quite* good enough to pick up on what it looks like on the lip, but hopefully I'll have that soon. You can see in these swatches that the bright orange is really a very pretty peach, the red is more of a warm berry/pomegranate tone and the frosty looking thing is actually a very pretty shimmer in a neutral color.

Lippie Love: 3 Custom Color Vivacious Violet Gloss

Sooooo pretty!

I admit that I was a bit afraid of this gloss at first. It's definitely "vivacious" and very violet in the tube. Once applied it morphs a bit and becomes a bit more pink. It's surprisingly pigmented and very wearable. Not really noticeable at all in the pics, but there is some very pretty pink subtle shimmer, that probably contributes quite a bit to the wearability.
