Pretty in Pink: Bobbi Brown Extra Lip Tint Review

I Bought It, Affiliate Links

Bobbi Brown Extra Lip Tint Review

Yes, it's yet another slightly tinted lip balm. You swipe it on, and it turns color on your lips. I have very similar lippies that I've featured here on the blog from Dior (their Addict Lip Glow, here at Sephora), It Cosmetics (Vitality Lip Flush at ULTA), and even ELF (Gotta Glow Lip Tint at ELF). I love this kind of lippie because you can carry it with you in your pocket, and just swipe it on when you need "something" on your lips. They feel hydrating, but offer enough color that you look like you have something on your lips. Which I need, without a bit of color I look a bit washed out.

What I like about this color is that it is a bit of a lighter pink than the others, it looks more like a lightly bitten lip than a pink lip balm. I've found that if I'm applying the others throughout the day, the pink becomes darker and more saturated, which isn't always the look that I want. The Bobbi Brown just stays faintly pink, no matter how many layers I've applied. I've found that the Bobbi Brown does get softer than the others when it's kept in a jean pocket, so if you're going to carry it around with you like that, you'll need to be careful with it. I try to keep it in the pocket of my white coat at work, or in a sweater or hoodie pocket if I'm at home.

I've just purchased my second pink Extra Lip Tint. I carry it around so much that sometimes I can't find it, now I have 2 on rotation so I can always find it. I'll probably try the Melon color next, which looks a bit peach in tone.

Gloss and Cuticle Oil in One: Dr. Dana Lips & Tips

Product Sent for Review

Dr. Dana Lips & Tips

I know I'm not the only one out there that sadly neglects their cuticles. I have the best intentions, I slather lotion all over my hands and pay extra attention to my cuticles, but that doesn't seem to be quite enough. If I'm washing my hands a lot (like at work), or I am in a dry environment such as an airplane, I really need more moisture for my cuticles. Otherwise they become dry and will suddenly just sprout little tags of dry skin. I swear I can get off of a plane and my perfect cuticles will suddenly look like I've ignored them for weeks!

Dr. Dana just released this double ended wand, a super hydrating lipgloss and a cuticle gel-oil hybrid. The idea is that you're already bringing you lipgloss with you, having a cuticle product readily available means you're more likely to use it! Click through to see what I thought!

Color Wars: My Favorite Shade of Pink

Product Sent for Review, I Bought It, Affiliate Links

Color Wars: My Favorite Shade of Pink
Beauty products all mentioned and linked below. Also pictured, Celine Vertical Tote (closest online is this larger Celine Horizontal Tote, or for less from Kate Spade, lighter pink at Etsy), and Ferragamo Verina Ballet Flats (mine are an old color, you can buy them in blush from Bloomingdale's)

I have a thing for hot pink. I buy a lot of this color. I have shirts, dresses, shoes, bags, makeup... you name it. This is my color. I'm obsessed! Today for Makeup Wars we're showcasing some of our favorite colors, and I couldn't resist showcasing some of my favorite hot pink or fuchsia items. I had a really hard time paring down this list, sorry it's so long!

Yves Saint Laurent Rouge Volupté Shine in Pink in Devotion and Fuchsia Stiletto

Yves Saint Laurent Rouge Volupté Shine Oil-In-Stick Lipstick
Get it at Sephora, Nordstrom

Is it a lipstick or a lip balm? I'm in love with this lip formulation, I probably own about 10 of them. I have them stashed in all of my makeup bags, in my desk at work, I carry them in my pocket... you get the idea. My favorites are the bright pinks, 6 Pink in Devotion (#1) and 50 Fuchsia Stiletto (#2).

Lipsense

Lipsense
Yes, Lipsense. I've gotten emails from individual reps, but I won't work with reps from MLM firms for various reasons I won't get into here. But, I've heard about it from so many friends, that it lasts all day, etc. I've bought a few colors, and then a few more... I think it is safe to say that I've drunk the koolaid and love it! I'll post a full review soon. I buy mine from Lauren, the sister of a friend. She ships fast and is super friendly.

My favorites are A Kiss for a Cause (#1), Fuscia (#2), Purple Reign (#3).

Nars Hot Pink Lips

NARS
Lately, NARS has just been amazing for me. Their new products are amazing, the shades so super pretty, I just want everything. All of the NARS, I want it all!

First, they just added new shades to their Velvet Matte Lip Pencil collection (get it from NARS, or Sephora), which is a well pigmented lipstick that I love. It's super easy to draw on to your lips, stays put for hours, and has a matte finish without being super drying. The hot pinks are Let's Go Crazy (#1) and 413 BLKR (#2).

Velvet Lip Glide is a well pigmented, shiny but not glossy, lip gloss. My favorite is Danceteria (#3, buy it at Sephora or NARS).

Chanel Hot Pink Lips

Chanel Rouge Double Intensité
Buy it at Chanel or Nordstrom

I really love the long lasting formula of Chanel's Double Intensité, read my full review here. I have quite a few of these colors now, and my favorites seem to be the bright pinks. Shocking Pink (#1) is pretty bright, I reserve that for when I really need a statement lip. Bright Raspberry (#2) looks more red in these images, but it definitely has a lot of pink in it. I've found that it works for pretty much any occasion, and it works for everyone, all skin tones.

Favorite hot pink blushes

Blush
I love pink blush, and I've found that the prettiest flush comes from a bright pink. As scary as it looks in the palette, with a big, fluffy brush this is the color that looks best on me!

NARSissist Unfiltered Cheek Palette (from Sephora or NARS) has a lot of pretty colors, though I mostly stick to the pinks in the top row.

Bobbi Brown in Pale Pink (at Sephora, Nordstrom or Bobbi Brown) has been my go-to color for a long time. I'm shocked that I haven't hit pan yet, it appears to be the never ending blush. So pretty!

beautyblender

BeautyBlender
Buy it from Sephora or Nordstrom

Do I even need to talk about this? If you don't own one, you need one. I always buy the sets that come with cleanser, often with more than one sponge. It works out in the end that the cleanser is free. Yes, these really are worth it, I pounce them on my skin when they are slightly damp, it blends foundation and concealer perfectly.

favorite hot pink nail polishes

Nail Polish

I recently went through my thousands of nail polishes and gave them away to friends. What I found was amazing. I had about 200 bright pink or fuchsia shades. All nearly identical. At least I'm consistent? In reality, there are only about 4 that I actually wear (almost all of the others have found new homes already), and these are my favorites. I wear pretty much only one of these shades on my toes year round, and I'll wear the same color on my nails a lot during the summer.

1. Morgan Taylor Prettier in Pink, at Amazon
2. China Glaze Fuchsia Fanatic, at Amazon
3. Chanel Desirio
4. Chanel Pulsion

Bite Beauty The Perfect Bite Set Review and Swatches

I've heard a lot of love for Bite Beauty over the years. I admit that I tried their lippies a few years ago, but they arrived at my home in the middle of a ton of other stuff, and while I liked them, I also wasn't in a lipstick mood that year. I think I ended up giving them away to a friend.

Fast forward a few years, and I hear about this brand all the time. All. The. Time. And guess what? I actually use actual lipstick now. Not every day (I still love tinted balm, lip stain and glosses), but I do wear it! When I spotted this set of 4 lipsticks over at Sephora, I knew it was time to try Bite Beauty again.

These lipsticks are very moisturizing, and the colors apply very smoothly. All four are pretty long lasting, about 3-4 hours or until a major meal. I can sip on coffee without an issue. Because this is a gift set, they picked pretty universally flattering lipsticks to include. They aren't full sized, closer to 60% of a full sized lipstick. This makes them great for travel, trying out something new or just carrying around in my pocket all day.

After trying out this quad, I think I likely will try out a few more shades. I've been looking for a deeper magenta, and it looks like Sangria will be my next purchase.

My Latest Pink Obsession: Vaseline Lip Therapy in Pink Bubbly

My Latest Pink Obsession: Vaseline Lip Therapy in Pink Bubbly

I've been in serious need of some good lip hydration. I think it's all of the time I've been spending in the pool, but I've been feeling dried out! This limited edition Vaseline Lip Therapy is my new latest obsession. It has the same non-sticky hydration that my lips really need, but it also has a very pretty rosé color and smells (and even tastes like roses). It's a very faint color on its own, or you can layer it over any other lippies.

You can only find this at Walgreens.

Comment on this post letting me know how you like it for a chance to win a $25 Walgreens gift card and a FREE Vaseline Pink Bubbly lip tin. (Rules here, enter until June 30!)

Long Lasting Lipstick That Really Lasts: Yes, It's Chanel

I Bought It, Affiliate Links

Chanel Rouge Double Intensité Lip Stain Review and SwatchesChanel Rouge Double Intensité Lip Stain Review and Swatches

As much as I love a great looking lippie, when I'm at work I am super low maintenance. I want to put on a lippie in the morning, and not think about it until that night. At the most I want to be able to grab something out of my pocket and swipe it on (while walking down the hall, so no mirror) and have it look decent without spending much time on it.

So, you can imagine that I'm pretty much left with stains, long wearing lipsticks and lip balm. Lippies that take intricate work to look great, such as a pigmented lipstick or even many tinted balms, aren't a great choice for me.

I've been using one lippie over and over for the last few months, and I thought since we're sharing our favorite long lasting makeup today for Makeup Wars that it was a great time to finally post about this lipstick. The Chanel Rouge Double Intensité Ultra Wear Lip Color. Yes, it's a huge splurge. But it is so worth it!

Tips for Statement Lippies You Need to Know

Red and Pink lipstick application tipsRed and Pink lipstick application tips

This spring, more than ever before, my look is all about my lips. I'm wearing red and bright pink lip sticks and glosses more than ever before! It's a look that I've avoided in the past, opting for more subtle colors. I have thin lips, and calling too much attention to them hasn't been comfortable for me.

But, I've discovered that rocking a statement lip color really is dependent upon how you prepare your lips and then apply the lippie. Read on for some of my best tips!

Quick Change Lipstick: Quick and Easy Weekend Looks with Burt's Bees

Product Sent for Review, Sponsored Post

quick look with Burt's Bees BB Cream and Lipstick

So, yes, I've been kind of obsessing over the new Burt's Bees BB Cream and lipsticks. But, there's a reason for it! Both of these products are amazing, and they outperform many higher priced items that I use. When I'm reaching for a drugstore lipstick over a higher priced luxe version (of nearly identical colors), then that drugstore lippie must be something special. And it really is.

Finally, this is a drugstore BB Cream I can recommend. After my last drugstore BB Cream was discontinued last year, I tried a lot of others, but didn't like any of them enough to recommend them. They were all kind of... meh. Not really worth featuring on the blog. This BB Cream has light to medium coverage, it blends beautifully and looks great all day long. That's exactly what I look for in a summer BB Cream!

I thought I'd share what my Saturday looked like with Burt's Bees. Yes, I was running from event to event, and changing up my lipstick was all I did to change up my look. It was all that I needed to do!

Review and Swatches: YSL Rouge Volupte Shine Lippies Exclusive to Nordstroms

YSL Rouge Volupte Shine Tinted Lip Balm Review and Swatch

There's one makeup product that I will consistently splurge on, and that's a lippie. You really can get a much better lip product if you're willing to spend more money. One of my favorite formulas has always been the Yves Saint Laurent Rouge Volupte Shine Tinted Balms. They're super hydrating, wear for a few hours, and have just the right amount of tint. The colors have always been amazing, they seem to last forever (I've haven't come close to finishing one yet despite a ton of use), and there's obviously something very luxe and satisfying about clicking one of these heavy, metallic YSL lippie tubes closed.

Recently I lost one of my favorite shades (only for about a day, I found it later), and in the middle of my freak out (which was also related to going on vacation a few days later, I needed that lippie to go with me on vacation), I looked on the Nordstrom website to order a replacement. Where I discovered that YSL had released a bunch of new lip colors that are exclusive to Nordstrom, and I needed some. Yes.

Great Red Lippies for Valentine's Day

I Bought It Affiliate Links

Best long lasting red lipsticks or lip stains

If you're going to wear a great red lipstick, lip stain or lip gloss, then Valentine's Day is the best day to do it!

But, with a red lippie, the look is highly dependent upon having perfect application. Which means you can't just slick some more on while running around doing errands or at work. I actually need to use a mirror! So, I look for formulations that will last longer. While not all of these options are technically "long wearing", they all last at least 4-5 hours on me.

And yes, I do own all of these. I've picked great reds that are pretty true, with a bit of a blue in the red to help make your teeth look white and to be pretty flattering.

Lippie Fall Update: Going Darker With Burt's Bees

Burt's Bees Fall Lippies Burt's Bees Fall Lippies

Now that it is really fall (at least, it seems like it is? I bought pumpkins...) I'm craving darker lippies. I want something that isn't pink or peach, that shows up a little bit more from a distance. Traditionally, the fall is all about red and berry lips with jewel tones elsewhere. While I really love that look, I've found that it can be hard to keep a red lip looking perfect while you're out and about with 2 kids under the age of 4.

Dior Lip Glow: My Perfect Pink

Dior Lip Glow Review

Dior Lip Glow. Wow, it just sounds decadent, doesn't it?

I heard about this balm for a long time before I finally purchased it in a post-partum splurging on myself sleep deprived haze.

Seriously, the best lippie splurge ever. Ever.

Dior Lip Glow: My Perfect Pink

See that? It's that perfect for me pink. Yup. Love it.

Dior Lip Glow Review

There are actually 2 different shades of Dior Lip Glow. I just recently bought the Coral shade, but the pink is definitely my favorite. They are basically clear when you apply them, but then deepen with a little bit of time. They feel hydrating, have some nice shine and last for a couple of hours. Because they're super translucent, it's easy to just apply while on the go. They don't need to be perfect.

I bought my pink Lip Glow about 4 months ago and have been using it almost every day. I've used about a third of it. That's a lot of balm!

Too Faced Melted Metal Metallic Lipstick Review

You may have read my Too Faced Melted Lipstick review. I wanted to love the products, but it wasn't a great fit for my lips (too drying) and the matte was difficult for me. It was a great idea in theory, but for me they were best used as lip stains. Not exactly what Too Faced had in mind.

A while ago they sent me their new Melted Metal Lipsticks, and I admit that I was rearranging my office, I was busy at work, tons of things were going on and I didn't get to them very quickly.

Oh, how I was missing out!

Too Faced Melted Metal Metallic Lipstick Review

Like the first Melted Lipsticks, there's a good array of shades, there will definitely be one or two that work with your coloring easily. For me, all but the darkest purple work great! The are a creamy liquid lipstick, not very sticky. Definitely thicker than a gloss. They are well pigmented, and with one or two swipes the application is done! I love that these are not matte, instead they are shiny. The bit of shimmer helps quite a bit as well. I'm much better off with the metallic versions than the regular ones.

Spring Is Here: Feeling Pink

Spring Is Here, Feeling Pink Burt's Bees Lippies

Spring is finally here! Well, kind of. It takes a while here in Michigan. But, there are finally flowers emerging from the ground and I ran errands without a down jacket. So, it must be a sign!

Now that it is warming up, I find myself craving pink. Pink, pink and more pink! One of the best ways to get a little fix, without making my rosacea look worse, is to use a little pink gloss or tinted balm, my favorites are from Burt's Bees. They offer just a hint of the pink, but offer a ton of hydration. Which I really need, because pink usually means a lot of wind in my area, and chapped lips are just a sign of the season. Luckily, these pink lip options all keep my lips nice and soft!

the best pink lip balms

My favorites are pictured above:
• Lip Shimmer in Grapefruit, Champagne, Strawberry, and Guava
• Lip Crayon in Carolina Coast
• Lip Shine in Wink, Whisper, and Blush
• Lip Gloss in Ocean Sunrise

What color are you craving this spring? You can probably find it in Burt's Bees Lip Shade Finder!

A Day in Lippies: How I Change On The Go

Product Sent for Review Sponsored Post

A Day in Lippies: How I Change On The Go

Burt's Bees has asked me to share how I change up my lippies throughout the day. When do I refresh? When do I change things up?

I have to be honest and say that I rarely wear the same lippie all day long. I usually have a collection in my jeans pocket (or white coat pocket if I'm working that day), and I use each product very specifically. I have an actual plan!

A Day in Lippies: How I Change On The Go

For me, it all starts with the most basic lip balm, the Burt's Bees Beeswax Lip Balm. I put it on as I apply lotion in the morning. It really moisturizes my lips while I dry and style my hair as well as apply makeup. It also seems to be an amazing primer under lip gloss! A light layer of this lip balm under any gloss will make the gloss last for hours (that's your pro lip tip of the day, just FYI). After that, I typically use a variety of pink and nude toned lippies. I've really found that this color combination works with my pale skin, making me look more awake! You can find colors that work for this with the Burt's Bees Shade Finder for their Lip Color Products.

Recently, I've been starting the day with applying the Lip Crayon once my makeup is complete. My favorite shade is the Carolina Coast seen here (swatch #1). It's a perfect mid-tone pink, and despite sipping on coffee all morning it should last until late morning.

As my lip crayon finally starts to wear off, I start reaching for products to reapply while on the go. If I'm at home that means I'm with my two girls, so I really need something fast and easy to apply. I've found that the Lip Shines offer just enough color and I can swipe them on without needing to worry about perfect application! Peachy (swatch #5) is the one I've been reaching for most often. I really love the neutral shade layered over the pinker tone of Carolina Coast.

If I'm at work, I often carry two products in my white coat pocket. First, a tinted lip balm (Honeysuckle, #2) to provide a little color. Just like before, I love to layer pink and more neutral, so I often pair it with Ocean Sunrise Lipgloss (#3). The lip balm base helps the lip gloss last a lot longer, and the combination of pink and neutral/tan works really well with my pale complexion.

Finally, I can't even tell you how many tubes of Champagne Lip Shimmer (#4) I own! It offers very little color, mostly it has just the right shimmer color for layering over any other lippie. I love to carry it with me for quick reapplication, particularly during the winter when I feel like my lips are dry.

Am I the only one that carries a big selection of lip products with them? What do you do?
