Lippie Love: MAC Pink Popcorn Lipstick

 MAC Pink Popcorn Lipstick swatch
This is my favorite of the Reel Sexy lipsticks, and I was really surprised by it! I assumed it would be just another unwearable light purple lipstick. Instead, it is a bit translucent with a very pretty pink color. It went immediately onto my vanity after this picture!

This matte lipstick is really pigmented and would probably look amazing. On someone else. It just made me look much paler than I really am.

MAC's Reel Sexy Collection: Review and Swatches

MAC Reel Sexy Collection

MAC Reel Sexy Collection
MAC has just released a new collection. (Are you shocked? I'm not. After all, it has been a whole 2 weeks.) I thought that I'd change things up a little bit and actually post all of the swatch pics at one time! Wow!

I'm still taking pics of the lippies individually on my lips (I've been slowed down by them staining my lips a little bit), so you'll be seeing those over the next few days in Lippie Love posts.

MAC Extra Dimension Highlighter Review and Swatches

MAC Extra Dimension Highlighter review and swatch
Sooo pretty in the pan. But, are these super pretty (and pretty pigmented and shimmery metallic) highlighters actually wearable?
MAC Extra Dimension Highlighter review and swatch
Actually, they are wearable. If you want to use them as a highlighter you'll need a light hand, a pretty big brush, and want a bit more of an obvious shimmer in my opinion. It was a bit more "look at me, I have highlighter on" than I typically wear for every day use, though it would be great for going out or a special occasion. Just remember, giant fluffy brush, light application... otherwise I think you risk looking a bit too Jersey Shore.

I actually prefer these for other uses, such as eye shadow. I'm not certain that the pigments are correct for an eye shadow (and yes, pigments are different in eye shadows than in other powder cosmetics), but these are great for that use. They're pigmented enough, they blend well and they last for ages. You can apply them wet for extra intense color as well.

As an alternative, these would be great for Halloween. I'm just throwing it out there.

MAC Trés Cheek Blushes: Review and Swatches of Lovecloud, Peony Petal and Modern Mandarin

Review and Swatches of 3 new MAC Tres Cheek Limited Edition Blushes: Lovecloud, Peony Petal and Modern Mandarin

MAC has just released a new collection of limited edition blushes, and if you're in the market for a new blush I definitely recommend running down to your local counter to check them out.

Review and Swatches of 3 new MAC Tres Cheek Limited Edition Blushes: Lovecloud, Peony Petal and Modern Mandarin

They're well pigmented, though with varying your blush size and application it is really easy to get a more subtle look if you want. To me they're just... really pretty!

MAC Extra Dimension Eye Shadows: Review and Swatches

MAC Extra Dimension Eye Shadow Swatch Review
MAC has just released a collection of new products called Extra Dimension, with the theme of intense pigmentation in a liquid-powder formulation. I wasn't really sure what to think of the feel of it. I was expecting it to be similar to the powders that feel like water when applied (if you've used them you know what I mean), instead these just felt a bit... somehow smoother and more creamy while still a powder. Not exactly a liquid-powder to me, but not a normal MAC powder eye shadow either. The application is a little bit more smooth as well and the pigmentation level is pretty high, especially if applied when wet. The finishes are a shimmery metallic finish that is similar to a frost but not quite a frost. It's a bit hard to describe until you've seen it.

MAC Sheen Supreme Lipglasses

lippie love, mac sheen supreme lipglasses swatch and review
These recently released Sheen Supreme lipglasses from MAC are really pretty. I fully admit that I'm not a big fan of the packaging (they're in pens that need to be twisted to release the gloss), I'm really good at releasing way too much gloss. They are a bit stickier than the normal lipglasses as well. But the colors... oh so worth it!

MAC Chanman Shadow Duos: Pretty Colors from those Crazy Mineralize Shadows

mac chanman mineralize eye shadow duo review swatch
Yes, these have been out for a bit. But, I'm at the mercy of both the Michigan sun (which may or may not decide to show itself) in addition to a 13 month old who likes to skip naps. So, it took a while to get a good time to take pics.

I never really know what to make of these mineralize shadows. They're obviously so, so, so insanely pretty in the packaging. But, they can change a bit when applied depending on the blend of colors. That can be good or it can be bad, some of us like a lot of consistency.

Anyways, I am usually drawn to the lighter mineralize shadows, but this time around I was really (really) falling for some of the darker ones (OMG, the purple in Pink Union!). I've been reaching for these pretty often when doing my makeup.

MAC Sheen Supreme Lipstick Review and Swatches: Obsessed Doesn't Even Describe It

MAC Sheen Supreme Lipstick Review swatch
I'm sure that I'm not the only one that shies away from the MAC lippies that come in that little black tube above. These are usually matte and very pigmented. I find them super hard to wear, so once they've been swatched and photographed they are usually tossed right into my giveaway box.

That's definitely not going to happen with these!

The new Sheen Supreme is different. This is a lipstick and lipglass hybrid, so instead of being super pigmented and matte, they're the opposite. They allow just a little bit of your lip to show through (I like this, it makes things much more wearable for my super pale complexion) and they are hydrating and shiny! You still get the color impact of a lipstick and they last for hours. I'm really in love.

MAC Shop and Drop Palette

mac shop and drop palette swatch review
I just found some swatch pics in my iPhoto from a few weeks ago that I never posted! Since the products are still in stores I'll be posting them over the next few days.

Sugar Snack: Matte Light Pink
Hypnotizing: Frosted Grey Mauve, this one is my favorite of the palette. I've found that it is surprisingly versatile and works with a lot of different shades.
Power Boosted: Violet, Veluxe Pearl
Shop & Drop: Deep Blue Satin, so dark that it really comes across as *almost* but not quite black. Great to use as a liner.

Shop MAC Kissable Lips- Woo Me and En-Chantee Review and Swatches

SHOP MAC Kissable Lips, review, swatch
I'm a big fan of MAC's Kissable Lips. Are they a gloss, or are they a lipstick? Really, they're a bit of both. They apply like a gloss, are well pigmented like a creamy lipstick, and they aren't sticky at all. They feel hydrating like a balm. They last for hours like a lipstick. Really, they're the best of both world.
Both of these shades are from the Shop MAC collection, and they're amazing! I've been using them non-stop, and I know they're going to be favorites for years. Woo Me is just a tad darker than my own lips and is a neutral that just works for my skin. En-Chantee is very pretty, though can become a bit too pink with a lot of layers. If I stick 1-2 layers I get a very pretty light pink that is perfect for spring.

Do you prefer gloss or lipstick? I've found myself reaching more and more for these hybrid products.

MAC Viva Glam Nicki and Ricki

mac viva glam nicki minaj, ricki martin, lip stick, swatch, review
If you've been around... oh, any media outlet recently you've learned that Nicki Minaj and Ricki Martin are the newest celebs with a Viva Glam lippie to help fund HIV/AIDS research. (I saw them on ABC a few times last week, I bet Ricki's cheeks hurt from smiling so much)

Nicki's Viva Glam lippie is described as a "bright yellow pink" with a satin finish. I think it makes more sense to think of it as a pink-coral color. I had a really hard time capturing the color of this lippie, it does seem to change quite a bit depending on the lighting (so I guess I had many accurate, though varied, pics of it)

The satin finish was actually rather matte on me, this lippie doesn't like to apply easily. I had the best results when really pre-hydrating with Ricki's lip conditioner first. Once it is on, I really love this color. It's a fun alternative to pink and I think I'll be wearing it quite a bit this spring.

mac viva glam nicki minaj, ricki martin, lip stick, swatch, review
Ricki Martin has a lip conditioner being released at the same time as Nicki's lipstick. It's a semi-matte, conditioning balm. It does have a very mild sweet/vanilla flavor that I don't notice after a few minutes. I found that it works great a few minutes before lippies, especially dry ones like Nicki's Viva Glam. A great staple if you want to support the cause!

MAC Tendertone Lip Balm from Cook MAC: Scary in the Pot, much?

Whoa, holy brightness Batman! Yes, that is a super, crazy bright orange lip balm. I pulled it out and all I could say was "what were you thinking MAC?"

Luckily, it turns out that that when applied these balms are much more wearable. I haven't had sun *quite* good enough to pick up on what it looks like on the lip, but hopefully I'll have that soon. You can see in these swatches that the bright orange is really a very pretty peach, the red is more of a warm berry/pomegranate tone and the frosty looking thing is actually a very pretty shimmer in a neutral color.

MAC Studio Fix Mascara Review

This little plastic molded brush has really surprised me. I have to admit that I was a bit shocked when I first pulled it out of the tube. "Really? This little thing?" The brush is short and just... small. The entire thing is molded out of the plastic and the bristles are a bit further apart that I would normally like. I thought it was the perfect set up for either: A) not accentuating my lashes at all. Or B) Clump City. Or most likely, C) All of the above.

It turns out that the right answer is actually D) Neither of the above.

The little brush seems to do a great job of finding every tiny little eye lash and getting mascara on it. The little ones down near your lash line that most wands either miss or just clump in with the bigger ones? Yeah. Got those. This makes your lashes look nice and lush.

Studio Fix also does a good job of not making you look like Tammy Faye Baker with the clumps, though it is a bit hard to keep the lashes from sticking together towards the end of the lashes. I normally just pull these apart using a metal eye lash comb, easy peasy. But, since most people skip this step I do as well on mascara photo days, blah blah blah. So, you can see them there. But! Only the tiny bits of the tips were doing this, it would take about 2 seconds to pull them apart. This mascara is quite a bit better if you take that 1 tiny little step.

The mascara does a good job of holding all day long. Notice that I still have the good volume at the base of my lashes and they are still nicely curled. All in all, I'd recommend this one.

MAC Fresh Honey Blush: A Little Pre-Spring Pick Me Up

So, it turns out that a very light sweep of this warm apricot shade over my t-zone and cheek bones is even better than bronzer to make me look awake and healthy.
Amazing!
