MAC Fresh Honey Blush: A Little Pre-Spring Pick Me Up

So, it turns out that a very light sweep of this warm apricot shade over my t-zone and cheek bones is even better than bronzer to make me look awake and healthy.
Amazing!

MAC Naturally Mineralize Skinfinish

I think that those of us with really pale complexions have a harder time finding products than most "normal" people realize. By normal, I mean those with more average amounts of pigment. Those of us at the dark and light end of the spectrum have a really hard time.

Which is why I want to hoard these Mineralize Skinfinishes. Soooo pretty. And amazing for my pale skin.

I've gone over these a few times so you can see the pretty shimmer and the shades. It is easy to make them sheer (use a big brush to apply all over) or more opaque (a smaller brush to use as a blush). Love them!

Napoleon Perdis Blush Patrol: Really, a Burgundy for The Pale Set

Napoleon Perdis Blush Patrol, review, swatch
This is a much darker blush than I thought I'd ever be using. I'm very pale and using a blush that is darker than a mid tone pink (with a big fluffy brush) is asking to look like a clown.

Somehow, that isn't the case with this blush. I think it must be that there is enough gold and white mixed in, but this blush has been really great on my skin tone. I've found myself reaching for it over and over. It took me forever to take pics of it. I couldn't keep it in my "typical" photo area. I was continually hunting it down each morning!

The blush is suprisingly light, really it is more of a rose color. The gold adds a little faint shimmer, really it just barely catches the light and that's it. I think this blush would work for pretty much any skin tone.

MAC Semi-Precious Blushes

The Semi-Precious collection has 3 blushes and they really are beautiful. They're more matte than most mineralized skin products (maybe it's just me, but I seem to think of them as having shimmer in everything). The MAC website states that these have subtle shimmer, but to my eyes I only pick that up in bright sunlight. The colors are well pigmented, but easy to use with a light hand and build to more coverage.

Pressed Amber: Nude, Beige, Brown

MAC Quite Cute Blushes

MAC Quite Cute Blushes, review, swatches
While the same size as a normal MAC blush, these new blushes from the Quite Cute collection are a bit different. They have the cute heart in the center, which you can see below really only adds a little depth to the blush, doesn't really change the overall color too much. As well, since these are mineralize blushes rather than plain blushes, they seem to be the baked powders that need less powder per use and last longer.

Giggly: Light pink with pearly plum heart
Sakura: Lavender with pearly magenta heart

In these swatches, #1 and #4 are the main color and the heart mixed together, #2 and #5 is the main color and #3 and #6 are the colors of the hearts alone. You can see that they blend together well and despite being purple in the pan there is a lot of pink there.

Tarte Amazonian Clay 12-Hour Blush

Tarte Amazonian Clay 12-Hour Blush, Sephora,
Have you seen Tarte's new Amazonian Clay blushes? Sure, they have all these reasons they include the clay in products (something about helping minimize oil or hydrating based on your skin's needs). What I know is that I love their new Amazonian clay products. The colors are always amazing and the products just make me look... pretty.

These blushes are much more pigmented than other blushes, so a little will go a long way. With a big brush I get a nice wash of color, creating a really pretty glow. They would pair up really well with Tarte's cheek stains as well for even more glowing. I've found that these blushes last pretty much all day.

Available in 8 shades:
• Amused: bright pink
• Blissful: warm peach
• Blushing bride: plummy rose
• Dollface: light pink
• Exposed: nude
• Flush: deep berry
• Natural Beauty: red
• Tipsy: coral

Available only at Sephora and Sephora.com

MAC Wonder Woman Blushes

MAC Wonder Woman Blushes, swatches, review
I have to admit that a big box of MAC Wonder Woman arrived at my home almost 2 weeks ago and I completely ignored it until a few days ago. Ok, I may have had a reason to be distracted (it arrived right after I got home from the hospital with my new daughter), but now that I've actually opened the box and played with the colors I have to admit that I'm impressed. The collection is much more wearable than one would expect.

As well, I love the WW inspired packaging. Where MAC used to just slap on a Hello Kitty sticker and call it done, they've gone above and beyond with this packaging! The compacts above are a great example. The compact is definitely inspired by WW and it is well thought out, the compact clicks closed which I love and who can resist the gold band around the outside?

Read on to see what I thought of the blushes.

MAC's Mickey Contractor Blushes

MAC Mickey Contractor Blushes swatches

While Sur isn't exactly a great option for my pale skin, I can only imagine how many people are picking up Gana to use as a highlighter. I think this would be perfect on a huge range of skin tones.

Sur - Dirty rosie brown (Satin)

Make Up For Ever's HD Microfinish Cream Blush

Make Up For Ever's HD Microfinish Cream Blush
I'm a big fan of cream blushes already. Why? Generally if well blended, a cream blush can create the perfect glowing blush that looks natural and lasts for hours. This blush does that and does it better than other cream blushes that I've tried. Because it has this microfinish, the blending seems to result in a more natural glow than other cream blushes. I've used it under my foundation for a glowing look or over foundation for a natural blush look.

The blush is very pigmented, so you only need a very small amount to create the look you want. I did find that the pump is touchy, and you need to be very careful because it is easy to dispense a lot more blush than you need. I applied the smallest amount out that I could on to the back of my hand and then from there used my finger tips to apply it to my cheek. You'll need to work fairly quickly because the blush seems to set after about a minute. It will last all day easily!

Benefit's Powder Blush Review

I recently wanted to try out a blush shade paler than my usual Nars Orgasm blush, which has been my everyday blush for about 3 years. So, in my recent Benefit haul, I picked up one of their peach powder blushes. I got my shade from the Buh-Buy section, so hurry if you want to get this blush too!

Overall, I do have to say that this blush is pretty nice. Mine is a very pretty pale peach, which is pretty natural looking on my pale skin. It's nicely pigmented, and I don't need to use too much blush each time. It blends easily, and it goes really well with my light matte bronzer, which I've been using for months, since Elke's Post about this Summer's Bronzer. However, I'm not sure that Benefit plans to have this blush around much longer as there are few shades available on-line.

Dior Diorshow Powder Blush

I recently had a chance to try out this new blush by Dior. While it looks daunting at first (especially since it looks like it would just create big circles on your cheeks, ala Bozo the clown), it is actually very user friendly. When you pull the top off (don't unscrew it! You will access the powder below, and this is messy. Believe me, I know)- you will find the powder puff. When patted on skin, the powder is released. My only concern is that when used, the powder tends to fly out, getting messy and making application very messy. However, the powder is very subtle, with a small hint of color and pretty much any of the shades will work on any skin tone. This is a great product for the upcoming spring!
