Tarte Amazonian Clay 12-Hour Blush

Tarte Amazonian Clay 12-Hour Blush, Sephora,
Have you seen Tarte's new Amazonian Clay blushes? Sure, they have all these reasons they include the clay in products (something about helping minimize oil or hydrating based on your skin's needs). What I know is that I love their new Amazonian clay products. The colors are always amazing and the products just make me look... pretty.

These blushes are much more pigmented than other blushes, so a little will go a long way. With a big brush I get a nice wash of color, creating a really pretty glow. They would pair up really well with Tarte's cheek stains as well for even more glowing. I've found that these blushes last pretty much all day.

Available in 8 shades:
• Amused: bright pink
• Blissful: warm peach
• Blushing bride: plummy rose
• Dollface: light pink
• Exposed: nude
• Flush: deep berry
• Natural Beauty: red
• Tipsy: coral

Available only at Sephora and Sephora.com

Lippmann's Spring 2011 Polishes

Have you seen the spring offerings yet from Deborah Lippmann? Traditionally a time for pastels, spring collections are usually a little.... blah? Boring? Both? Deborah does spice things up a little with some seriously glitter and a perfect option for "manikin hands". A little bit nude, a little bit pink... I think that color likely works for a lot of people. As well, no one does glitter like Lippmann. I confess to coveting all of her blingy shades!

I shared Yellow Brick Road a little bit ago, but it will be coming out on April 15th. Yellow promises to be the color of the summer. To make the shade a bit more wearable, look for a jelly finish (like this one) or a less neon shade.

The Shadows I'm using over and over... Bobbi Brown's Peony & Python Palette

Bobbi Brown's Peony & Python Palette, Swatch
Recently I showed you Bobbi Brown's Peony & Python Collection. Since that post I've received a palette (click the image above to enlarge the pic) to try out, and I have to say that I want to use it all the time!

I'm especially drawn to the grey in the upper left (click the picture to enlarge). I've been using that on my entire lid and then layering the light purple over it. Somehow this combination is both neutral and glowy on my lid. I shade my crease with the dark purple (very light, it's enough to shade but doesn't look like I've drawn a purple crayon on my lid). Finally I do a black eye liner and trace over it with the black shadow which I can easily smudge just a tad. Quick and easy even for this new mom!

I found that the shadows are pretty well pigmented, but it's still easy to get a subtle look with a larger brush. Like all Bobbi Brown shadows they blend easily, last all day and I have no issues with caking.

Chanel Pearl Drop Nail Polish

Chanel Pearl Drop Nail Polish, Spring 2011, Swatch
This nail polish really does look like the surface of a (real) pearl. There is amazing gold shimmer and shine (the gold is more pronounced in real life, this is the best that I could capture it), I think only Chanel could capture this in a nail polish. It is a bit deceiving in the bottle and images as I think this polish is actually warm toned, not the cool you would think a white polish is. As well, it is surprisingly opaque, I only needed 2 coats for full coverage.

Estée Lauder's Spring 2011 Lippies

Estee Lauder Spring 2011 Wild Violet Lip Gloss, Lip Stick, swatch
When I first saw Estée Lauder's Spring 2011 lippies, I have to admit that I was afraid. Not just a little afraid, but really afraid. What on earth were they thinking?? The crazy neon colors did not look flattering, I didn't think they would sell well, someone in the higher ups over there had gone crazy.

Of course, it turns out that they were smarter than me, the colors are actually very pretty and flattering. Read on to see what those shocking neon lip glosses really look like.

Estée Lauder Spring 2011: Wild Violet

Yet another spring collection that just seems really pretty to me.

The eye shadows especially appeal to me, though that is usually the case with Estée Lauder eye shadows. They've also created two new, limited edition shades of Pure Color EyeShadow in Untamed Violet and Sugar Cube.

Also included in this collection are four new, limited edition shades of Pure Color Long Lasting Lipstick in Wild Violet, Wild Coral, Wild Blossom and Wild Fire. As well, there are four Pure Color Gelées in Electric Cherry, Electric Violet, Electric Pink and Electric Coral. I have some of the lippies sitting here waiting to take swatch pictures, I promise I'll try to get to them soon!

Too Faced's Romantic Eye Palette

Too Faced's Romantic Eye Palette
Have you seen the new eye palette from Too Faced? As part of their Spring 2011 collection they will be releasing this new eye palette (click the image above to enlarge). I must admit that I've become somewhat obsessed with the Too Faced Naked Eye Kit. The kit never leaves my vanity top and I find myself reaching for it day after day. I think this Romantic Eye Palette is likely my next version of that, only less neutral.

Estée Lauder's Wild Storm

Estée Lauder Wild Storm, Nail Polish, Lacquer, Swatch, Spring 2010, Pure Color Nail Lacquer
Part of Estée Lauder's Wild Violet Collection (for Spring 2011, yes, already available, it seems too soon!), this nail polish is a pretty pewter color. The picture above is pretty representative of how it looks about 95% of the time, and while it seems to hint at some shimmer you really have to look really hard to see any at all, it is basically a creme. The color is very well pigmented, I got full coverage with 2 light coats or 1 heavy coat of polish. I usually get about 5 or 6 days of wear from an Estée Lauder, pretty good considering how much I usually put my nails through!

I do think that dark greys will be everywhere on nails this spring, of course spurred on by Black Pearl, which is sure to sell out soon. I bought Black Pearl a few days ago, I'll compare the two soon!

Derek Lam Spring/Summer 2011

Derek Lam Spring 2011 Beauty Look, Makeup
Derek Lam Spring 2011 Beauty Look, MakeupIf you're anything like me, you have a big collection of very pretty eye liners and eye shadows at home that you can't really wear everyday. That bright purple? The navy with silver shimmer? Can you really incorporate them into your every day life? Or, at least the part of your life where you do things like go out for dinner to CPK with your husband, maybe not the part where you are raking the leaves in your yard? Though, the navy idea would be really great for the season football tickets I now have for games in a very big, big college stadium that shall remain nameless.

Anyways, my whole point is that sometimes it can be hard to see ways to work these fun colors into our normal lives. Once you hit about 26, it seems like the approach to makeup changes. There's less color and sparkle. Why? Who wants to look like a teenie bopper or Vegas Showgirl when really you're a lawyer or stay at home mom? You want to be taken seriously. So, the makeup is less exciting and we forget how to incorporate color into our everyday lives. Unless it is taupe.

Well, Estée Lauder Creative Makeup Director Tom Pecheux is coming to our rescue with this look he created for the Derek Lam Spring/Summer 2011 runway. Yes, the color is rather bright, but think of how easily this can be adapted with any color! I'm picturing a navy, plum or even a dark gray-green. You could do this with almost any color, the point is that Tom is showing how to balance the rest of the face around the color. (Apparently the answer is a little color on the rest of the lid, perfect skin and light nude lips. I don't know about you but these pictures make me want to run to my nearest Estée counter and buy every face product Tom used. I also must have that lipstick when it comes out this spring!)

Read on to see what Tom used to create this look.

The Ultimate Fashion Forward Updo at Christian Siriano SS 2011, by Aveda!

It's definitely not surprising to me that Christian Siriano is the most successful designer to come out of the stress cooker that is Project Runway. I hate to make the obvious statement, but his designs are fierce, and I admit to really wishing I had places to wear his designs. And the money to afford them. But I digress.

Really, I wanted to share the amazing hair in by Aveda's lead stylist Antoinette Beenders in Christian's Spring 2011 show. True, this is not an updo that would work for every occasion. But, you have to admit that it looks amazing with Cristian's designs, and now I want to invent occasions to have this hair style.
