Too Faced Milk Chocolate Soleil Bronzer: Perfect For Us Pale Girls

Product Sent for Review
Too Faced Milk Chocolate Soleil Bronzer Review
I'm pretty sure I'm not the only pale girl out there with this issue. You hunt all over the place for the right bronzer. You want one that isn't orange, has a matte finish, and won't make you look dirty. A natural glow or just the right color for subtle contouring is the goal.

Except, it doesn't exist.

You can get the first two, but it seems like that last one is hard for us super pale girls. A bronzer that works on someone with a darker complexion is always too pigmented for a pale girl, and while you can use a bigger brush for a lighter effect, sometimes you want your application to be more precise.

I have finally found the perfect bronzer shade, and it's great for us pale girls. It's Milk Chocolate Soliel, the lighter sister of Too Faced's Chocolate Soliel Bronzer. It is just the right shade of brown, isn't orange, there's no shimmer and best of all, it isn't too dark for me! A heavy hand won't have people telling me to wipe the dirt off of my face.

Quick and Easy Intense Eye Look in Under 5 Minutes

Product Sent for Review I Bought It Myself

NARS Eye Paint Quick Eye Tutorial

When I shared the new NARS Eye Paints, I promised an eye look. And I have to admit, that I keep grabbing them and using Tatar and Snake Eyes as liners for a light eye. I can't help it, the look is so pretty! But, I finally had time to play with Tatar for a dark smoky eye. The look is pretty dramatic and works best for going out rather than everyday.

Quick Eye Look With NARS Tatar

To start this look, I used a nylon brush to apply NARS Tatar all over my entire lid, up to the crease. I then gently patted the edges with my fingertip to blend/feather the product. I next used my go-to crease color, Wet 'n Wild Nutty, which went into my crease. I blended it down a little bit onto the Tatar and then above.

I used Too Faced's Perfect Liner in Perfect Black and Better than False Lashes to finish off the look.

Quick Smoky Eye With NARS Tatar

The "complete" pictures were taken about 8 hours after I did the look. You can see that the Eye Paint held up pretty well with minimal creasing! Perfect for a night out.

Soft Purple for Everyday Eye Look

Product Sent for Review I Bought It Myself

easy purple eye shadow

I keep promising more quick eye looks, and I fully admit that I've had some photography issues. I painted my bathroom blue, so a lot of looks had no really usable pics. So.... I'm still experimenting. Luckily I have a few looks that worked! I'll share the second look in a few days, but today I'm sharing a look I wore last week while at home with my toddler. This look took only a few minutes.

Quick look with Too Faced Loves Sephora Anniversary Palette

To create this look, I used the Too Faced Loves Sephora Anniversary Palette. First I used a light wash of Soho, a very pretty lilac all over my lid and a bit over the crease.

I then used Envy, a slightly darker purple, on about 2/3 of my eye. I gently patted it on, I just wanted a little added definition. Next, I used my go-to crease color, Wet 'n Wild Nutty, in the crease and a little in the outer V of my lid. I then lined both upper and lower lash lines with the Too Faced Perfect Liner in Perfect Black. When I love about this liner is that it is very pigmented and doesn't budge, but for the first few minutes after you apply it is pretty soft, so you can really smudge it easily! I put a little bit of Envy onto my Sonia Kashuk smudge brush (which I love for its stiffer bristles), and blended out the liner on top and bottom.

I finished it up with 2 coats of Better than Sex Mascara on the top lashes and a coat on the bottom lashes.

Purple eye look with Too Faced Loves Sephora Anniversary Palette

I wore this look with a soft lip (I'm pretty sure it was my Too Faced Honey Bear) and a soft blush.

Too Faced Loves Sephora 15 Years Of Beauty Palette
I'm a sucker for palettes, and the ones I seem to reach for the most often are all from Too Faced! This So Cal brand makes all of my favorite palettes, so I was really excited when they sent me their Too Faced Loves Sephora Anniversary Palette. It has 2 basic shadows that everyone needs, some fun colors, an amazing blush and some great matte bronzers that are just sun kissed enough without being orange. Not to mention that slot for a travel sized Shadow Insurance Primer.

So, basically this is the perfect palette to take with you anywhere. All you need is a great BB cream and a mascara, this palette and you should be good to go!

Too Faced No Makeup Makeup: Many Face Products in 1 Compact

Too Faced No Makeup Makeup Review and Swatches
If you head over to Pinterest and look around for about 2 minutes you'll see that there are a million and one pins about highlighting and contouring your face a'la Kim K. Seriously, it's like 1984 all over again. (And yes, even I am guilty of doing the face contouring post.)

I'm a little over the face contouring (except for the nose contouring, it does help!), I'm kind of excited for summer and the more traditional use of bronzer to give a sunkissed look with a little shimmer highlight here and there. Too Faced recently sent me their No Makeup Makeup palette. This handy palette has everything you need to create a pretty look (outside of the eye makeup and lippie).

7 Must Have Items from Too Faced

7 Must Have Items from Too Faced via @15minbeauty
Today is the birthday of one of my favorite brands! Happy 15th Birthday Too Faced!

To celebrate, I moved up a Too Faced post I had planned for... tomorrow. Odd twist of fate, that one! Yes, I am a big Too Faced fan, their products are among my daily staples (that eye primer, the neutral eye collections, the pinky lippie that is my lips but better and I take with me everywhere). If you haven't tried them out yet, now is the time!

1. Shadow Insurance: Yes, the eye primer that is everywhere. I think most girls are either a UDPP fan or a TFSI fan, and while I like both I have to say that TFSI is a bit more versatile. Because it feels a little tacky once it sets up, it really is idea for use with loose eye shadows. It also lasts all day without creasing or fading.

2. La Creme Color Drenched Lip Cream (in Honey Bear): I take this color with me everywhere. Everywhere. It is in my purse, it gets carried around in my pocket, it gets transferred to my white coat pocket at the hospital... you get the picture. I should probably buy a back up. Or 5. (See my review of Too Faced Honey Bear)

3. Air-Buffed BB Creme Complete Coverage Makeup: A cream that applies with an included brush, this BB Cream has buildable coverage and I love to use it around my nose, but over a more traditional BB cream, for a bit of very natural added coverage. (See my review of Air-Buffed BB Cream)

4. Boudoir Eyes Shadow Collection: It was a hard decision to pick between Naked Eyes and Boudoir Eyes, though I'm reaching for Boudoir a little more the last few weeks. Super versatile, this palette can create a neutral eye for work or a sultry eye for a night out. (See my review of Too Faced Boudoir Eyes)

5. Endless Summer 16+ Hour Long-Wear Bronzer: Yes, a bronzer that lasts all day, isn't orange, but is just golden enough.

6. Lip Injection Advanced Plumping System: This is the only plumping gloss that makes a difference in my thin lips, though I admit I don't use it often because the tingling can be a bit strong for me (though if I used it more I'd probably get used to it and that would no longer matter).

7. Natural Eye Neutral Eye Shadow Collection: Another palette that I frequently use to create a look for work, it's a bit warmer and a bit more shimmery than the Naked & Boudoir palettes. (See my review of Too Faced Natural Eye Palette)

Too Faced Natural Eye: One of My Go-To Eye Palettes for Work

Too Faced Natural Eye Palette Review
This week I'm continuing my Too Faced "week" (loosely used, it will be a few more days!) and today I'm showcasing one of my real "go-to" eye shadow palettes. On days that I don't really want to think about it, I will frequently grab this palette to create a pretty but neutral and professional look.

Too Faced Natural Eye Palette Swatch
The only issue I have with these shades is that Nude Beach is pretty... glittery? It's not really glitter, it's more like powder that's about the size of glitter but only a bit shimmery. Regardless, it has a lot of fallout, so I tend to use that color sparingly. I have noticed that it mixes well with Silk Teddy, so I'll often dip my brush into both pans and use them together.

Too Faced Natural Eye, How to Get the Look
When using this palette, I end up with this eye look about 90% of the time. Here I've used Silk Teddy all over my lid, up over my crease and into the contour area a little. I then applied Push Up in the crease and to about the point where the Silk Teddy ends in the contour, and in a little V almost over the outer 1/3 of the lid. I blend all of the shadows very lightly.

Here I've used a brown smudgy liner (this is Stila Oscar Fish), which I've pushed into the lash line and then smudged into the shadow. I finish by curling, curling and still curling my lashes and then applying mascara (more about how I apply mascara).

Too Faced Air Buffed BB Cream Review: Lightweight and Natural Looking?

Too Faced Airbrushed BB Cream Review
I have a confession to make. Lately, I've been wearing too much foundation. Really, I think the issue is that I'm wearing my regular "fuller" coverage foundation, some powder and blush, but since it is finally getting a tad warmer (or I'm wishfully thinking it is, since it is now April), that same coverage feels much too heavy. So, I've been on the look out for ways to keep the flawless look of fuller coverage, but with a lighter look/feel.

I had super high hopes for this BB Cream. Somehow the fact that it was a solid BB cream, instead of a lotion, made it reach epic proportions in my mind. Did it fulfill those epic expectations? No, but I was ready to have the BB Cream erasing any and all signs of under eye circles, rosacea and creating the perfect smoky eye all in 1 step.

What it does do is create a natural appearing finish that can easily range from light to medium coverage (even up to full if you layer it on) that does a good job of evening out my skin tone without looking heavy. The compact comes with a nice little brush for applying the foundation. I used this brush at first, but quickly swapped over to using a larger brush (my Urban Decay Optical Blur) since I had an easier time making my coverage uniform with the larger brush (the little one is great for travel though, I'm going to stick it in my makeup bag for my purse). I rub the brush around in the compact and then buff onto my face. For areas that I need more coverage, I go over them twice or I'll use a finger and pat on a little product and then buff with the brush. Resist the urge to just apply this BB Cream with your fingers, the results are definitely splotchy and obvious, using a brush is key!

I did find that staying power can be a bit of an issue with this cream. It looks decent at the end of the work day, but a few hours later (around the 10-11 hour mark) things start to get patchy and disappear. So, for a longer day you'll need to touch up.

What have you swapped to for spring? Let me know if you've found anything good!

Too Faced Honey Bear: My Current Favorite Neutral Lippie

Too Faced Honey Bear
You know how NARS Orgasm blush is that perfect peachy-pink that works on pretty much everyone? (But I fully admit that many of the companion products are too light and frosty to work for many people. Like that lip gloss.)

Anyways, this is the Orgasm of lip sticks (pun intended? Not intended?)

Too Faced Honey Bear Lippie
Too Faced claims that Honey Bear is a "toasted mauve" lipstick, but I honestly don't even know what that would look like. It's pretty much the perfect neutral lippie for me. What do you think? What's your perfect neutral?

Too Faced Sweetheart Beads Review: Perfect Highlighter in Little Hearts?

Too Faced Sweetheart Beads Review
First, I probably should admit that these beads are so cute that they could pretty much do anything, good or bad, and I'd still want to open the little cardboard container and peek at them all the time. Look! Little hearts!

These beads come in cute and flattering colors like pink, a light golden shade, tan... the idea is that when blended together they create a great finish with a "lit-from-within radiance" and a hint of shimmer.

In truth.... there's a lot of frost and shimmer in here. Like, a lot. Even a light dusting around my face is too much, it seems to catch in strange places on my skin and give me wrinkles that I didn't know I had (and really, I can't see otherwise, so I am choosing to believe they are fake wrinkles. Not there.) There wasn't really any color visible, but the issue was the shimmer/frostiness.

So, I've been using the beads as a highlighter. A smallish blush brush works great with the container, then I can apply to my cheekbones, around my eyes a little, my chin and down the middle of my nose. Very light is all you need, and then I have a barely visible shimmer, no color is visible, but it is just the perfect amount to catch the light.

So, all over cute Sweetheart Beads = probably bad for anyone over 30. (Which yes, is definitely me.) But, cute Sweetheart Beads as a very subtle highlight, yes that works!

Too Faced Boudoir Eye Palette Review

Product Sent for Review Affiliate Links

 photo boudoir-eyes-review.jpg
Yesterday I shared the new Too Faced Summer Eyes Palette, but they had another recent addition to their amazing eye palette family, the Boudoir palette.

I know what you're thinking.... Wait... don't I already own that palette? Actually, I'm on my second one?? (Wait, I might be the only one that is wondering that last question. And yes, I'm on my second one.)
Boudoir and Naked Eye Palettes Comparison
So, yes, the Boudoir and Naked Eye Palettes by Too Faced are pretty similar. To the point that they have many of the same shades. I've put unique shades to each palette in italics below.

Boudoir Eye Palette
In the Buff, Fuzzy Handcuffs, Voulez-Vous
Satin Sheets, Sugar Walls, Garter Belt
Birthday Suit, Lap Dance, French Tickler

Naked Eye Palette
In the Buff, Pillow Talk, Like a Virgin
Birthday Suit, Satin Sheets, Unmentionables
Pink Cheeks, Lap Dance, Stilleto

Too Faced Eye Shadows In the Buff, Fuzzy Handcuffs Voulez-Vous, swatch

Too Faced Eye Shadows Satin Sheets, Sugar Walls, Garter Belt, Birthday Suit, Lap Dance, French Tickler swatch

So, looking at the shadow swatches from the Boudoir Palette, I think you'll see it's definitely neutral, but easily a bit sultry. It includes one of my favorite shadows of all time (Birthday Suit. See how I've hit pan on it in the Naked Palette? That's the reason I'm on Naked Palette #2). But, I also really love a few of the other shades here. Lap Dance is amazing (it's in both), Sugar Walls and Garter Belt are super pretty together as a duo, and I think the change from Stilleto to French Tickler is a big upgrade. (I didn't really ever use the matte black of Stilleto. French Tickler is really nice to add over a black liner for some fun and depth.)

If I was going to pick one of the palettes I'd go with Boudoir, but I think enough of my staples appear in both palettes that I am really loving having the options of both.

Too Faced Boudoir Eye Look How To
When I'm really pinched for time, this is my go-to eye look (hence, the over use of Birthday Suit!) It is really fast, neutral and perfect for punching up with a fun eye liner if I'm not in the mood for black or brown.

Too Faced Summer Eyes Review and Swatches

Too Faced Summer Eyes Palette Review
I've decided to declare this week Too Faced week, in celebration of one of my favorite makeup companies, but somewhat neglected here on 15 Minute Beauty. Their Shadow Insurance eye primer is a staple for me. I reach for their Natural and Naked Eye Palettes several times a week and their 16 Hour Bronzer.... love it!

The new summer eyes palette is a great collection of colorful and neutral shades. I love the little pops of color and I've already started using them, which is definitely branching out for me!

Too Faced Summer Eyes Palette Swatches

 photo summertoofaced-eye-look.jpg
I fully admit that Coral Crush is a bit brighter than I usually wear (or maybe its just that I'm used to my "bright" colors being blue, purple or green?), but when combined with some of the neutral shades it was well within my comfort range.

Quick Look: Wednesday at Home

My daughter is starting to give up her morning naps. **sniffle, sniffle** True, at 18 months she's been working on this a while, but we've hit the point where 1 nap days are starting to number 2 nap days. Which also means that getting dressed in the morning is about to become a whole lot harder!

Today we got a morning nap (yeah!), so I took a few extra minutes to play around with some of my BFTE eye shadows. I wanted something pretty and neutral, but a little bit more special than just a quick wash of 1 color.

What I Used
1. L'Oreal Youth Code BB Cream: I'm just starting to use this BB cream, which I'm liking quite a bit so far. It isn't as much coverage as my Dr. Jart BB Creams, but it is more than most tinted moisturizers. The color is a great match for me as well.

2. Tweezerman Eye Lash Curler: I'm a bit of a late convert to the expensive eye lash curler thing (for years I didn't get it and just replaced my cheap ones from the drug store), but this thing is amazing. The curve is a bit different so it actually fits my eye (shocker, I know), and the harder rubber bumper on it means that rather than a bend I get a pretty curl.

3. MAC Mineralize Skinfinish in Blonde: I really love the very lightly pigmented powders that you can get from MAC, Bobbi Brown and Milani. I put a very light layer on my t-zone, temples and under my cheeks (basically, where a less pale person would put bronzer) and it makes me look much more awake and healthy! I use so little that you can't even see the color, but it definitely makes a difference.

4. CoverGirl Perfection Point Plus liner in black: I like that this liner is so fine and just needs to be twisted up for use. It smudges nicely right after application but seems to stay put very nicely afterwards.

5. L'Oreal MagicLumi Concealer: I just bought this and today I took off the wrapper. It appears to be the L'Oreal version of everyone YSL Eclat Touche Concealer. It's a light to medium coverage for a concealer and has a little bit of a peachy-pink tint to help cancel out under eye circles. I believe it has some light diffusion as well. It seemed to work pretty well, though it wasn't enough coverage for my visible vessel under my right eye (not a shocker, this is always a struggle for me). I'm now at hour 12 and it is still going strong. Hopefully this is a winner!

6. MAC Cremesheen Gloss in Double Happiness: I pulled this out of a MAC shipment last night, and it was here on my counter begging to be used! This is a very pretty neutral shade that just amped up my natural lip color a tad. Very easy for anyone to wear.

7. L'Oreal Voluminous Mascara, Power Collagen in black: I confess that I'm not 100% sure about the name of this mascara, because my tube says something different than the tube on the L'Oreal site. It's part of the Voluminous line and was recently released (I bought mine about 6 weeks ago). I've found that it adds great volume and length that lasts all day, though I do sometimes need to do a little lash combing because of a few clumps.

8. Too Faced Shadow Insurance: I have a lot of different shadow primers, but at the suggestion of Phyrra, I use this one now under any loose shadows. It really, really outperforms some of my other choices (MUFE, Urban Decay and NYX), simply because it is very slightly tacky feeling, so it grabs onto the shadow to keep it on the lid.

9. BFtE Shadowin Dusty Rose:

10. MAC Pigment in Jigs & Jive: I got this in a MAC holiday set I don't even know how many years ago. I've never used it before, but I could never bear to give it away, it's so pretty! It worked well, though I confess I actually like the loose powders from BFtE and Fyrinnae more.

11. BFtE Shadow in Beautiful

12. BFtE Shadow in Sweet Nothings

13. L'Oreal Infallible Lacquer Liner in blackest black: I really like the gel/potted eye liners, but this is the first from a mass market brand that I've loved. It's every bit as good as the MAC and Bobbi Brown versions. Really.

So, the first steps of this look are a bit obvious. BB Cream to the face, concealer as needed. I used the Mineralfinish all over but also as a blush. I then prepped my lids with a very light layer of the Shadow Insurance and gave it a minute or two to set up. I then applied my shadows (look! I made you a chart to make up for not taking pics of each step), and my liners. I used the CoverGirl pencil along my lower lash line and the L'Oreal Lacquer Liner along the upper lash line, slightly thicker at the outer edge. Finally I curled my lashes, applied my mascara and swiped on some gloss!

I think my final look was pretty (and probably a bit more complicated than it needed to be), but I was happy with it. What do you think?

Coveting: Too Faced's Smoky Eye Palette

Too Faced's Smoky Eye Palette
I have to admit, that with all of the makeup I own, I find myself using a Too Faced eye shadow palette at least 3 or 4 times a week (I bought both the Naked and Romantic Eye palettes). And, while I'm not often a dark smoky eye girl, I'm tempted to pick up this palette too! I love Too Faced's shadows- they blend well, last all day and the colors always work for me. You can click the image above to get a better view of the shadows. What do you think? It looks worth checking out to me!

Too Faced's Glamour Gloss

Too Faced's Glamour Gloss, review
Have you tried out this lip gloss from Too Faced? I've found myself reaching for it quite a bit.

My gloss is in Pillow Talk, which is described by Too Faced as "Mauve Shimmer" which seems pretty far off to me. I think it's really more of a nude with a little bit of pink in it, and while there is shimmer it is very faint and no one else is ever going to notice it. I love that the gloss is so neutral and is a little bit more pigmented. It makes me look a bit more pulled together!

The gloss seems a little bit thicker than other glosses, and there is a minimal amount of stickiness (though it is there). It feels pretty hydrating and does seem to last for a few hours if left alone. I love that it is shiny but not slick looking as well.

Note that this gloss is a plumping gloss, though as usual I don't really notice much of a difference. There is a light cool tingle that lasts about 30-60 minutes after application. I find it pleasant and not at all painful.

An Eye Shadow Primer Confession

Eye shadow primer, urban decay primer potion, nars, too faced shadow insurance, holy grail
In the past, my holy grail eye shadow primer has always been Urban Decay's Primer Potion. In the past I've made half hearted attempts to find something better, cheaper, with packaging that doesn't waste most of the product... (Yes, UDPP is now available in a tube. Note that tube is huge and I have 3 backup wands in my stash right now. Yes, there was a good sale on-line for $4 each, don't look at me like that.)

Too Faced's Romantic Eye Palette

Too Faced's Romantic Eye Palette
Have you seen the new eye palette from Too Faced? As part of their Spring 2011 collection they will be releasing this new eye palette (click the image above to enlarge). I must admit that I've become somewhat obsessed with the Too Faced Naked Eye Kit. The kit never leaves my vanity top and I find myself reaching for it day after day. I think this Romantic Eye Palette is likely my next version of that, only less neutral.
