Lippie Love: BareMinerals Wild One Gloss

Bare Minerals, bareminerals, lip gloss, wild one, swatch
This lip gloss came from my BareMinerals Bare Luxury Set, which is still available on QVC the last time I checked. While I loved a lot of items in this set, the lippies were my fave!

Wild One is a light pinky peach with gold shimmer, but on the lip it gives just a bare hint of color. It feels hydrating and isn't sticky, it is perfect for a "nude lip" look.

MAC Narcissus: A Bit Bolder Lippie

This gloss is a bit more pigmented than most, and the color is definitely bold. I kinda love it.

Lippie Love: L'Oreal Infallible Plumping in Pumped Red

I've had this gloss in my sample box for a long time. I'm pretty sure L'Oreal gave it to me when I attending a blogging event in NYC about...2 years ago? When I pulled it out a few weeks ago I was in search of more reds. But, this red seems much more wearable than many other reds. I think it is partly because it is a gloss (it is a tad translucent so my own lips shine through), but the color is a bit pinker than I had expected once applied. It is a plumping gloss, though I didn't have any of the burning/unpleasant sensations that are typical of a plumping product. It does make my thin lips look bigger as well. All around this gloss is a success!

Lippie Love: Lip Savvy Love Game

This color was much softer than I had expected once applied. It feels hydrating, though it is a little bit sticky. I didn't mind because this stuff seriously tastes amazing! It's sweet and a bit fruity. I can't really describe it any better than that. I had a hard time not eating it off my lips!

The gloss includes anti-oxidants to help fight aging and a ton of ingredients such as hyaluronic acid, to add moisture and plump things up a bit.

Lippie Love: Revlon Super Lustrous Gloss in Peach Crystal

This gloss comes in pot and like the Pink Crystal I featured earlier, it looks somewhat neon/scary in the package. But on the lip it is just a faint color with a small amount of shimmer (which I couldn't get to pick up, but it is very subtle). The gloss isn't sticky and it takes like a jolly rancher.

Lippie Love: Clinique Black Honey

Clinique Black Honey, Almost Lipstick, Lip Gloss, Review, Swatch
Last year I was really excited to find Clinique Black Honey Lipgloss. It then lived in my pocket or purse for a good 3 months.

This fall, Clinique has released a little collection inspired by this iconic shade. I was sent a fun sample of the dual ended lippie. This is perfect, now I can carry around both the Almost Lipstick and lipgloss together! I'm wearing them layered in this pic. I haven't headed out to my local Clinique counter yet, but I'm hoping to get there soon to check out the blush and eye shadow quad.

Lippie Love: Napoleon Perdis Lady in Red Lip Gloss

Napoleon Perdis Lady in Red Lip Gloss, swatch picture, review
This gloss from Napoleon Perdis is super, super pigmented. This is one layer, and it looks like a lipstick. It lasted about 4-5 hours (with some coffee and lunch in there) and it even wore off evenly rather than in patchy bunches. Love that! It doesn't feel sticky either.

New Feature: Lippie Love

Fall is all about lipstick. It really feels like this year more than ever, dark lips are everywhere. Red, plum, berry... you name it, it is out there on lips. I'm usually a lip gloss girl, but I'm really feeling more color on my lips this season.

I have to admit, I initially planned to do this as a daily feature for a month. But, my new camera lens was late, I'm not sure I want a lipstick every day, and I have more colors to feature than an entire month! So, I'll be featuring a great lip color nearly every day for quite a while. It might be a lipstick, it might be a gloss...

You get the idea.

L'Oreal Paris Colour Riche le Gloss: Seriously Amazing Lip Gloss

L'Oreal Paris Colour Riche le Gloss: Seriously Amazing Lip Gloss, review
Have you seen the new L'Oreal lip glosses yet? Love. Serious love. Amazing. I picked up one at CVS the other day, and the display was so pretty I had to really stop myself from buying a few more. Or six. In the end I only bought one (#164, Nude Illusion, pictured above, which is for some reason called Nude Touch on the L'Oreal website), but I think it is a universally flattering shade and if you're in the mood for a new lip gloss, this is the gloss and color to get.

The gloss comes in a tube, though this one is a bit longer and thinner than most lip glosses, giving it a fresh and elegant feel. The gloss isn't sticky, tastes like vanilla and feels like lip balm going on. Seriously, this is not a joke. The formula includes Omega 3s, Vitamin E and Argan Oil, so the gloss is very hydrating. It doesn't last through meals, but it does stick around for my daily cup of coffee.

I think I'll be picking up a red or plum for fall next. This is holy grail worthy gloss.

Tinted Balms, Something I'm Loving This Summer

I've been pretty forthcoming about my lip gloss addiction in the past. Lately I'm trying to change things up a bit, and add some actual color to my lips. Such a revolution! A look with a little more than a faint hint of color or just shimmer on my lips! But, one of my requirements for this is that I need to be able to reapply while on the go, sans mirror. Which means I've made things a bit difficult on myself.

Enter the tinted balm. Most have a color associated with them, but it's about half as pigmented as a lipstick. So, with my own lips showing through, the color is more flattering, easier to apply and the formulas are generally more moisturizing than regular lipsticks. Perfect!

Here's a quick peek as some of my current favorites:
1. Fusion Beauty LipFusion Conditioning Stick in Berry
2. Fresh Sugar Lip Treatment in Plum
3. Fresh Sugar Lip Treatment in Honey
4. Tarte LipSurgence natural lip tint in Peaceful

I'm currently lusting after the Fresh Sugar in Rose and I might need all of the shades of the LipFusion, especially buff.

Not pictured are Tarte's 24/7 natural lip sheer which come with SPF 15. I'm a big fan of these as well, I just couldn't find any to include in the pic since they seem to be stashed around the house in various pockets, purses and likely some are at work in my white coat pocket as well. Thursday and Twilight are my favorite shades.

Some products here were samples, some I've purchased myself. All are difficult to locate at any given time since I keep carrying them with me everywhere and losing them. Oops!

Current Obsession: MAC Surf, Baby! Suntints

I have to admit that I'm carrying these 2 lipglosses with my everywhere right now. Light tint that flatters every skin tone... SPF 20... they do have a (very faint) sunscreen scent/taste, but definitely not as strong as most SPF lip products. Love.

MAC Quite Cute Lippies

MAC Quite Cute Lippies, lip stick, lip glass
I think that of the pastel shades included in the Quite Cute collection, it was the lippies that concerned me the most. Who would want to walk around with purple or minty green lips? Honestly? Not me. It turns out the colors are more flattering than I first thought.

Plushglasses
Although they looked very different from each other in the tube, it was quite hard to tell these two apart once swatched or applied. As usual, non-sticky, great shine and lasted about 2 hours without food or drink.

Bubble Tea: Creamy pale nude
Fashion Fanatic: Creamy pale pink
Girl ♥ Boy: Bright light blue pink
I ♥ U: Creamy mid-tone purple

Lipstick
While they appear to be fairly intense in this swatch, I actually went over each swipe 2-3 x to ensure that you could see the color. They were both more translucent, which would be more flattering. I think in real life you wouldn't wear each of these on their own, rather they would be layered under a gloss to add depth.

Playing Koi: Creamy white peach pink (satin)
Quite Cute: Creamy bright whitened lavender (cremesheen)
Saint Germain: Clean pastel pink (amplified)
Candy Yum-Yum: Matte neon pink (matte)
Play Time: Creamy intense violet (cremesheen)

I Might Have a Problem....

Lip Gloss Addiction
Recently I was in town and wanted to reapply lip gloss before getting out of the car. I reached over to my purse and starting digging around for the lip gloss I'd put in there right before leaving home (the Buxom one). But, as I started digging it became apparent that my purse was basically filled with lip glosses. It was insane, I was continually pulling out lip glosses. It might be possible that I have a little bit of a lippie addiction.

What was in there (left to right):
MAC Lip Gelée in Shift to Pink
YSL Baume D'ete in #6
MAC Lipglass in Naked Frost
MAC Lipstick in Mellow Mood
Become Age Resistant Lip Gloss in Berry
Fresh Lip Treatment in Plum
Buxom Big & Healthy Lip Polish in Samantha
MAC Lipstick in Brave New Bronze
Estée Lauder Pure Color Lip Gloss in Tempting Tearose
MAC Kissable Lipcolour in Woo Me
Burt's Bees Beeswax Lip Balm
Clinique Superbalm Moisturizing Gloss in Black Honey

That's a whopping 12 products for 2 lips. Wow.

Some of these glosses I bought, some were samples I'm sure.

The Item You Need This Spring: A Bright Gloss!

Today's post is from my friend Henna, over at Canadian Beauty. I met Henna about 18 months ago at a blogging event in New York, and I felt an instant connection to her. She is smart and funny with just the right amount of sarcasm. We ran around SoHo and shopped (she even put up with me wanting to go to every Marc Jacobs store and barely buying a thing), and I really wish I could see her like this every year!

If you invest in just one item, let it be a brightly coloured lipgloss.

This spring, my go-to is Nars' Angelika Lip Gloss. This is a bright candy-floss coloured gloss that is sheer enough to work with pretty much anything. It's going to be a gentle addition of colour to your face, and will instantly make you look more awake and refreshed. It's also cool-toned so it's going to make your teeth look whiter! And since this is a gloss and not a lipstick, you can throw it in your purse and apply it without even looking into the mirror.

Be fabulous this Spring without even trying.

Too Faced's Glamour Gloss

Too Faced's Glamour Gloss, review
Have you tried out this lip gloss from Too Faced? I've found myself reaching for it quite a bit.

My gloss is in Pillow Talk, which is described by Too Faced as "Mauve Shimmer" which seems pretty far off to me. I think it's really more of a nude with a little bit of pink in it, and while there is shimmer it is very faint and no one else is ever going to notice it. I love that the gloss is so neutral and is a little bit more pigmented. It makes me look a bit more pulled together!

The gloss seems a little bit thicker than other glosses, and there is a minimal amount of stickiness (though it is there). It feels pretty hydrating and does seem to last for a few hours if left alone. I love that it is shiny but not slick looking as well.

Note that this gloss is a plumping gloss, though as usual I don't really notice much of a difference. There is a light cool tingle that lasts about 30-60 minutes after application. I find it pleasant and not at all painful.

Balm I'm Obsessing Over: Fresh Sugar Plum Lip Treatment

Fresh Sugar Plum Lip Treatment
I've seen this pop up on all sorts of "best of" lists and truly thought "Plum? Lip Treatment? What is that all about?" and then promptly forgot about the product. Well, it was included in one of the sets I received as a sample from Sephora over the Holidays (so, we have them to thank for this review), and I finally broke it out recently.

Estée Lauder's Spring 2011 Lippies

Estee Lauder Spring 2011 Wild Violet Lip Gloss, Lip Stick, swatch
When I first saw Estée Lauder's Spring 2011 lippies, I have to admit that I was afraid. Not just a little afraid, but really afraid. What on earth were they thinking?? The crazy neon colors did not look flattering, I didn't think they would sell well, someone in the higher ups over there had gone crazy.

Of course, it turns out that they were smarter than me, the colors are actually very pretty and flattering. Read on to see what those shocking neon lip glosses really look like.

MAC Cham Pale: The Lip Gelées

I'm in love with most of MAC's newest collection, Cham Pale. Why? Because the colors are perfect for pale girls like me. Little pops of color that aren't too much color, but keep us from looking washed out.

The Lip Gelées have been seen before, though not in these exact versions. In my experience, MAC's lip gelées tend to be a little bit shinier than the lip glasses, have more shimmer or glitter, and they tend to not last as long on the lip. In addition, I do find them to be quite a bit stickier than the lip glasses. For me, they work best layered over other lippies, such as over lipstick to add a little extra pop. In that manner I use less of the sticky gelée but get a great look.

Bubble Lounge is described as "sparkly pink peach" and Straight to the Head as "sparkly bronze brown." You can see that both are insanely full of shimmer, which made photographing them a bit of a challenge (even without using flash)! There is a bit of color to the base, and the glitter is tinted as well. Both work really well over lipstick, though be careful because if you use too much of the gelée it will look like you've dipped your lips into a ton of glitter.
